“You couldn’t capture all these good looks anyway.” Hugo chuckled, trying to joke along. He didn’t really know why he’d thought going over to chat to Skye had been a good idea. They were in the same house, sure, but they weren’t exactly mates. But he’d heard about her mum, everyone had, and he’d figured that maybe she’d want a non-judgemental ear. Could he offer that? He could try.
“So… how are you?”
Skye smiled at him, happy to see that he was at least making an effort to pretend he didn’t know all about her mother’s problem. It didn’t matter that she was out of the house now, living with Ben. Families in the wizarding world cared so much about where people came from. Everyone would now see her as the girl with the drunkard mother.
“Oh, you know,” she shrugged, waving her hand nonchalantly as if to wave off his question. “I’m just trying to ignore half the population at this school. It’s been a really... fun week.”
