love how subtly and yet well written Lucanis having an issue with promises is. promises are just words, too flimsy, and he knows how breakable they are.

"don't promise me we'll get Zara."

"don't promise me you'll be here for me."

this is a man that lives on and by contracts, signed and sealed. a far more solid guarantee, at least in his mind. repeatedly asks you not to promise him things, shows that he understands and appreciates the sentiment - in his own way - but he doesn't want either of you tied to something so easily broken. he can't take the disappointment.

then Rook disappears. trapped. gone. and what do they ask Lucanis when they come back?

"promise me I'm really here."

and Lucanis not only promises, he swears it. because this is a promise he believes in, and one he fully intends to see kept.
