A few first-round character design sketches for a comic.
Character concept sketches
Some random face sketches, trying to get better at hair and expressions.
Having fun with ships. Next time I want to just focus on a few and really develop a distinct design language for the different factions in this world.
A character that I want to work on more. Maybe they need a sheath and a belt.
Some of my favorite sketches from a recent attempt to design some jesters. It's fun to just draw a few lines and see what kind of shape or figure comes to mind.
Every part of this was really fun to draw. And I learned a lot in the process! This is the kind of illustration I want to make more of.
hand study from photo reference. I want to get better at constructing hands from imagination, and doing these I notice I'm really relying on copying the proportions from reference rather than thinking about construction. So I'm going to focus more on that next.
TARSOID is a ship designed for extracting delicate and unstable plasma-crystalline materials which form in the upper atmospheres of gas giants. Basically, it grabs things with its hand. This was for chroma corps 2025 and I'm really excited to participate again this year. The second pic is the version that I completed for the daily prompt, and the first pic is after a few more days of work.
I really like how this illustration turned out. I think if I were to rework it, I would paint the face a bit differently to better highlight her features.
hello i'm going to share a lot of sketches and drawings here, and i would love it if you followed along as i try to put together a portfolio. i'm also trying to find other artists who like to share and talk about their process.
this is a work in progress with a few characters i draw sometimes as well as a couple of new ones. i think they play a lot of different genres, and they are all pretty good at singing, but the keys and bassist don't like to.
