Another silly ass low effort phm comic bc I keep thinking of this post and just cracking up at the mirror pronouns also being another level of codependency. Rocky and his bestie.
there a lot of details of american macroculture that have caused what I'd describe as a reality fracturing mental reset when I learned about them. one was learning that children do literally swear their allegiance to the american flag every morning before school and that's not a quaint comedic exaggeration left over from the 1950s like rabbit ears on a TV. one was learning that Americans have to pay for ambulance transportation. one was learning that Americans are taught the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were tough brave necessities that made the world safer and not horrific war crimes on a footing with the nazi holocaust.
and one was learning that the cultural cachet of veggietales is completely unironic and a lot of you watched the parables of God from the bible and his son jesus christ the cgi vegetable for real real and thought it was good, no goofing, not a bit
most pathetic useless unreflective oblivious not even enjoying the fruits of their rapacious solipsism people on earth. at least do everyone the courtesy of shutting the fuck up.

You know, it's implied that the other humans could also reset; but Asgore, without his spirit broken, was strong enough that they fought him over and over until they each gave up.
It's also commonly speculated that the yellow soul was the last one before you.
Think about that. After all he's done, Asgore is trying desperately to remind himself why he's doing this, to hold himself together; and the thing that finally breaks his conviction is when one of the children, tears in his eyes, agrees with him. The child agrees completely that humanity's past actions are their own fault. Because hearing that, you can't help but understand how horrible all this is.
The soul is taken, of course. Yellow doesn't make it hard; he's already given in. But Asgore has lost that fighting spirit that overcame the determination of those before you.
Oh my god wait. What if Aqua's "Patience" was about dying over and over again to win battles?
Because Deltarune establishes her as brushing off pain easily as part of the game - if you attack her she gains mercy just like any ACT - so even if she kept losing to monsters she'd just want to come back and play again.
But it's also established in Aqua's team battle with Seth that, quite specifically, she CANNOT handle doing the same attack over and over.
She never even made it to Asgore's second turn, did she?
It wasn't any fun anymore. And then it was scary.
thinking more about aqua the pure unhingedness of her actions stopped specifically by repetition. might be a reflection of her exploring. way too many outcomes with resets. flowey syndrome but before flowey did it.

Hey so did anyone else notice that the shelter code asgore has is "0915199x" which seems to be a date, mm/dd/yy, 09-15-199x, with "199x" reflecting how years have been presented in utdr previously, like 201x in the opening of undertale or 202x in the unused graphics of Ralsei's manual, displaying a specific decade but not year, and "09-15" being September 15, the release day of Undertale.
Something I think is neat and really cute about fanfic is that there’s a personal version of each character in it? Like, each writer focuses on different traits and qualities and even though there can be a hundred fics with the same character, they’re really not exactly the same.
So even if you and I are writing a fic with the same characters, they can still be uniquely different despite having the same core and they’re each dear to us personally as our take on the person.
I don’t know, I just think it’s cute that each writer cherishes these characters in personal and unique ways.
