"why are so many leftists disabled" maybe it's because disabled people don't really care for the "kill all disabled people" parties but who can say
the thing about Tangled is that this is a story geared towards little girls (even if it's "fun for the whole family," it's a disney princess movie, it's geared towards little girls), and it says, "here is a girl who is naive and doesn't know anything about the 'Real World' or how to navigate it safely and correctly. now pay close attention: the good guys are the ones who help her grow and explore new things while still respecting her own perspective and feelings, not making her feel stupid. the bad guys are the ones who tell her that she is too weak/immature/naive to do the things she wants to do, because she is fragile and needs protecting." and I watched this when I was nine years old and it resonated deep in a part of me that I couldn't articulate with words yet.
My Psych Nurse today: "Aren't you writing a book?"
Me: *lets go of a sigh made of lead* "Allegedly. But with life being the way it is, how the fuck am I supposed to have enough energy to make it through the day here in reality and THEN go open the book and drag myself though every fucking shitty thing that's ever happened to me?"
Psych Nurse: "Oh. Yeah."
"what if abusive parents.... are trying their best? are good people in bad situations? what if their children understood how hard it is to be a parent and to have to handle them? what if this shitty parent—get this, this is groundbreaking—is actually Sad and needs forgiveness?" — every fucking piece of media for some reason
xena gave us trans drag lesbianism as a treat
There are layers to this. Earlier in the episode, Xena discovers her secret while they're sharing a locker room. A woman she has got naked with turned out to be trans. It's the exact scenario terfs are always fear-mongering about, but Xena just shrugs it off.
Also, the kiss was a big deal not just because it was gay but because the trans actress was HIV positive. They wanted to show the world that you can't contract HIV just from kissing someone. Bear in mind, the AIDS crisis was still fresh on people's minds in the 90s.
Happy Pride.
Everything sucks and I'm angry and everyone continues to piss me off while I am angry and I am this close to deleting everything.
Thank you for the crumbs kings. x x
idk I can tell that some tumblrinas are not up on fat politics because I see a lot of people saying stuff like “it’s better to be a little fat than waste your life trying to be thin” or like “it’s chic to have a little belly” like okay but there are fat people who are “a lot fat” and have “a lot of belly” which everyone is weirdly silent on all the time. Like the fattest person on earth still deserves to exist in human society with joy and dignity regardless of how they got to that weight or how many health conditions they have as a result of their personal actions…that should be everyone’s baseline here I’m not really sure what’s complicated about it
additionally even if i was "a little" fat I DONT WANT TO BE CHIC I WANT MEDICAL CARE AND PLANE SEATS THAT FIT ME YOU DUMB FUCKS 😭 like ohhh you think curvy girls with a little belly are oh so hot? first of all if you saw the fat people i want to fuck you would kill yourselves but more importantly, there is genuine discrimination. people are getting hurt. people are dying. people are starving their children so they dont *become* fat. get on board with real fat liberation. like clothes that fit would be nice too but can we stop killing people with medical neglect or hate crimes as well? pls?
What happiness looks like ╰(*´︶`*)╯♡
saw this on Insta and the idea that people who are anti-AI are just using it anyway like... willing to give it up? I ACTIVELY AVOID THAT SHIT BUD! WHAT ARE YOU EVEN TALKING ABOUT?
ALSO
It's not as if this shit has been around SOOO LONG. We all existed JUST FINE before this shit became THE THING someone decided to shove in our face like...
Did you ever just feel so lucky for knowing someone you met online? Like.. I was one click away from not following you. I was one second away from never even knowing of your existence.I would never have been this happy!!!...
I don't like it when people say "if you say you can't cook what you really can't do is read instructions" because that really does not apply to something like cooking where most recipes are filled with instructions like "add a pinch" "boil until done" "cook at medium heat", which are things that require experience to understand correctly
This is why I bake. Vastly more specific, very little room for error.

HELLO!
Writing Into The Void
I wake up exhausted, achy, and overheated. I'm disappointed that I woke up at all.
I don't feel like a person. And I don't mean that in the dissociative way, I tell my therapist every time I try to explain. He knows what I mean by now.
It's hard to see how the lives of others are so different from mine. My life is an abomination; human lives aren't supposed to be like mine.
A couple of weeks ago, I had a friend tell me (over messages) "You're the most isolated person I know." and I haven't gotten over it. I've been simmering in it ever since. Human lives aren't supposed to be like mine.
I can go days without speaking out loud. No one says my name except at the doctor's office.
I have no idea what affection is like. When I write about it, I have to guess and hope it's right and that no one can tell that I'm not a real person.
I am not wanted and I am inherently unlovable. I am no one's priority. I tell my therapist that if I don't kill myself I'll die of neglect. I'll take care of myself until I'm too burnt out to do it. I figure if I was loveable then someone would've done it by now, since I'm in my mid 40s. But I am not worth the effort. My unmet needs are a black hole that's collapsing on itself and no one wants to reach inside and pull me out. There's no payoff to loving me. I am not meant for gentleness.
It's hard not to see yourself as garbage when you learn that both sides of your family enabled your mother's abuse, standing idly by while knowing all along what was happening. It's even better when more than one of them tells you about this in your 30s.
If neither side of my family wanted me, then why am I here? I suppose I know the answer to that. I was my mother's "last chance" to do the things people are "supposed" to do. She was too much of a coward to defy expectations and I am the one who has suffered because of that.
And I see so much about "self-care" but when you're alone in the world that isn't really possible. If I take a bath, I have to clean it up. Make a special meal, i have to clean it up. You see what I mean. It all cancels itself out, or makes me more tired than when I started.
It's hard to self-soothe. Nothing is comforting. There aren't even vices I can indulge in. There's nowhere soft to land, no warmth to reach for, and i am so exhausted.
I can't help but chuckle dryly when I see the phrase "it gets better". It most certainly hasn't. This phrase is most often used in the context of people who attempted suicide, failed, and now are much better. I've failed 20 times or more and nothing has ever gotten better. I used to think it would. I had hope that all of this survival would pay off someday- that all this strength I am complimented on would eventually become something. But I don't think it will. I think the system that wants me to not exist will win and my life will have been a waste. None of my fighting for my life has been worth it.
Not that this is much of a life at all.
This is no life for a human.
Which I guess I'm not. An inhuman life for someone who isn't human in the eyes of other humans.
disabled people are often in permacrisis
there's never enough money each month. there's always an unexpected illness. new symptoms pop up or old symptoms flare up. meds have to be managed always and refilled constantly and any refill has the opportunity to go wrong. any regular care has the opportunity to go wrong. any mistake can send your health spiralling. it's always "i just need to get through this bad patch" but as soon as one ends another begins. another crisis begins in the middle of the last crisis. managing one thing leaves another thing to be neglected until that becomes a major issue and has to be managed asap and the cycle starts anew over and over and over
