I fooled myself into thinking I was going somewhere. But here I am. In the end, I’m back to square one. Once again, I’m back to Su Yeong.

something about this gifset makes me so happy
Idk why but y'know how ppl say it hurts more when you're not even a choice for the person you love than being their second choice...? I mean- I agree to that to an extent but hear me out... When you know you're already not a choice, you can move on more easily but if you're a second choice , they make you think you have a chance, that means they keep building you up again and again, but also break you down because they talk about that other person even though they fucking treat you special and that makes you grow so damn envious and that shit hurts like hell...

A happy ending isn't always unrealistic. A sad ending isn't always realistic.
Context matters. The fact that we are all reeling and are unable to accept the ending isn't because we are fools. We weren't given enough time to see the cracks in their relationship. We saw missed dates and cancelled plans but then we also saw them showing up at eachother's door and making new ones. If they had to show the disappointment and unmet needs in the relationship, they should've given it more time than one and a half episode. Even if they tell us a lot of time has passed in the relationship and they weren't able to cope with Yijin being depressed and away and Heedo feeling lonely, I wish they had shown us that instead of just telling us.
The ending feels forced because we weren't given enough time to simmer and soak the 'decided end' and were just pushed into it. I can understand that the relationship is their own, and so is deciding the end. But how is it that they could not even remain friends? How is it that they do not wish to know about eachother? How is it that they gave up on being present in each other's life anymore?
The ending isn't realistic. It is forced, cruel and unconvincing. If they had shown Heedo happy and content in her life, I could've accepted it. But she goes on about past regrets that she had forgotten, looking for closure even after so many years and having a husband who seems so out of picture. Her workspace is coloured in rainbow but her life does seem all that colourful anymore. Maybe I am mad about Baekdo but then it is the writer's job to convince me that it was for their own good. The writers not only failed baekdo to serve an edgy ending, they also failed us. They destroyed a connection so real and so pure to give us a 'reality check' and they failed.
Twenty-Five Twenty-One ended with one powerful message:
The truest love is between a girl and her chosen sport.
the way wonstein's your existence always plays when yijin and heedo meet each other for the first time after being apart for a long time... the way the song literally begins with 'miss you'
fuck baek yi-jin, i’m the real person who needs therapy rn
i’m emotionally exhausted. completely ruined. this finale has left me in pieces on the floor clutching my heart.
*sobs* i hate it here thanks
can i appreciate the story the writer wanted to tell? yes. can my heart still be shattered into a million tiny baekdo pieces? also yes.
