Eclipse of the Sun: Diana's Farewell to Apollo
By Karl Bryullov (1852)
Fanny Liautard: ‘Angel Wing Dress’ Bridal & Evening Collection (2012)
Mine the earth for what it's worth, and then what? A flash in the pan town, settled by miners and evangelists. Bonnie and Clyde hide, behind thumped bibles and white pride. Chew it up and spit it out. Massacred, maybe, an Act of God? Pursuit of Sphalerite, deceiving. Pyrite- Fool's Gold. Madness abounds, stolen from the Earth. A fracture, a split, touch the center. Rivers run backwards. Build a temple on it, build a thousand, baptize your children in the waters that wash forth from the center. Miners strike gold, Baptists strike minors, strike minor chords, strike chords in minors. Heal in these waters, rich with Ruby Jack, mood disorders, ground yourself on this fissure. Lithium is the psychiatrists first order, a cesspool of heavy metals.
Runaway, run faster, run further. Record time escape. Grasping for stars, platformed heels dug into piles of chat. Listening to a liars lyre, pour silver syrup on scorched flapjacks. Return to the Mother’s mighty maw, sift through the rubble, tailings tell tales of mangled men and stoned women. Take a pickaxe, split my ribs, reach inside- clutch my heart. Fingers expecting blood are met instead, with the cold touch of a chunk of lead.

cruelty is so easy. youre not special for choosing it
"The trouble is that we have a bad habit, encouraged by pedants and sophisticates, of considering happiness as something rather stupid. Only pain is intellectual, only evil interesting. This is the treason of the artist; a refusal to admit the banality of evil and the terrible boredom of pain."
-Ursula K. LeGuin, The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas
"Evil is boring. Right? I kinda believe in the banality and mundaneness of evil. Evil is just selfish impulses, which at the end of the day are really easy to understand. It’s easy to understand why people do bad things. It’s like “yeah, ok, you’re selfish and scared and cruel, I get it”. Being good is complex and beautiful and hard." - Brennan Lee Mulligan
