Atlantis: The Lost Empire 2001, dir. Gary Trousdale, Kirk Wise
Found a book that summarizes literature and literary figures in text form, and the Byron one might be the best thing to ever happen.

Bookshelf inserts
hey say that you can’t judge a book by its cover. But what if the cover alone can tell you the whole story? Welcome to the world of book nooks where creativity runs wild!
These hand-made creations will draw you into tiny places of wonder: from the hobbit hole to the Blade Runner-inspired apocalyptic alley or Lord of the Rings-themed door replica equipped with motion sensors.
This book nook my mother got on Ebay
A Magical bookshop in your own bookshelf
I made a booknook for a christmas gift, my inspiration was Blade Runner. It’s 11" X 6"
Not only are book nook inserts a fun way to train your creativity muscle, they can also be a solution to making reading great again. A recent study done by Pew Research Center showed that a staggering quarter of American adults don’t read books in any shape or form. The same study suggested that the likelihood of reading was directly linked to wealth and educational level. Add high levels of modern insomnia and full-time employment that leaves many of us drained at the end of the day, and the idea of opening a book seems unappealing, to say the least.
Now imagine yourself walking past a bookshelf full of these mini worlds—the dioramas of an alley. They catch your attention and you cannot help but see what’s inside. The pioneer of the book nook concept is the Japanese artist Monde. Monde introduced his creations to the Design Festa in 2018 and received overwhelming feedback. 178K likes on twitter later, Monde has become an inspiration to the aspiring arts and crafts lovers who join on r/booknooks to share their spectacular ideas.

Anthropology major answer: “There absolutely was such a time! Modern humans and our ancestors shared territory numerous times over prehistory with cousin species like homo neanderthalensis, homo floresiensis, and many, many others!”
Folklore student answer: “Also, almost all cultures have something like djinn, faeries, hulder, fox spirits, and other similar creatures who can appear at least human and are very, very dangerous to humans!”
Both of these things are true, and may be connected both to the above and to each other. :D
Biology majors: it’s dead bodies guys. Corpses.
REBLOG IF ITS OKAY TO TALK TO YOU.
Please.
why are star wars planets more boring than earth and our solar system like sure we’ve seen desert, snow, diff types of forest, beach, lava, rain, but like…
rainbow mountains (peru)
red soil (canada/PEI)
rings (saturn’s if they were on earth)
bioluminescent waves
northern lights (canada)
salt flats (bolivia, where they filmed crait but did NOTHING COOL WITH IT except red dust?? like??? come ON)
and cool fauna like the touch me not or like, you know, the venus flytrap.. and don’t get me started on BUGS like… we have bugs cooler than sw aliens
BASICALLY like???? come on star wars you had one (1) job where are the cool alien species
I KNOW!! I did a report on filming locations in Star Wars last year and just made a list of places that looked so surreal they could make a convincing other planet. You covered some on my list but if I could just add a couple more:
Tsingy di Bemaraha, Madagascar
Zhangye Danxia, China (similar to the Rainbow Mountains in terms of appearance)
Chocolate Hills, Philippines
Giant’s Causeway, Northern Ireland
So many missed opportunities with cool ass things on Earth, Lucasfilms smh…
Earth is effing amazing!
Quebrada de Humahuaca, Argentina
Lake Retba, Senegal
Tepui, Venezuela
Tianzi Mountains, China
these would make amazing Star Wars planets OR fantasy material:
Tsingy du Bemaraha, Madagascar again (but a different part)
(those are razor-sharp, if you were wondering. very little of this area has been explored because YIKES)
Lake Natron, Tanzania
(looks cool, but is alkaline enough to Kill Your Shit)
Lake Baikal, Russia
(the deepest lake in the world, seriously)
and I’ll wrap it up with Son Doong Cave, Vietnam, the largest cave in the entire world.
it puts anything Dagobah has to offer to absolute shame:
(seriously, the largest chamber is 660 feet high. you could jam a fucking skyscraper in there and still lose it)
anyway I really like caves thanks for coming to my ted talk
I mean, I totally get where you’re coming from with this, but I’m not surprised they haven’t tried to CGI planets and backgrounds more (not after all the hate Prequels got for it) so they’re left with locations that are easy to film in. I imagine if they went to several of these locations that, not only would it be difficult to film in some of this terrain, but also there’s no guarantee they wouldn’t cause some sort of environmental damage while filming there for weeks on end. Or at least that’s what I think 😔
Technically, a Grimoire and a Book Of Shadows (BOS) are two different things; although many modern witches use the two terms interchangeably. So lets look at the differences between a Grimoire and a BOS...
A Grimoire is an older term used to define a book of spells, invocations, etc. (Usually ceremonial magic rather than folk magic). Book of Shadows is a term popularized by the Wiccan movement in the twentieth century. I have also been told that a Grimoire is a witch’s working book of spells, where as a BOS is more like a journal of your magical workings.
Whatever you choose to call your magical book, and whatever you choose to write in it is totally up to you (I personally use the terms “Black Book” and “Grimoire” interchangeably. I don’t use term “Book Of Shadows” as it is a Wiccan term and I’m not Wiccan). And whether or not you choose to create or keep a magical book is also entirely up to you. Some witches do, some witches don’t.
❗️And as a side note; you are under no obligation to share or show your Grimoire/BOS/Black Book to anyone. You can share it with others IF YOU SO WISH but ultimately it’s your book and your decision❗️
