Hi! My name's Monet Nogilny, but you can call me Mo if you want.

My bio says it all (though ignore the image on my trainer card- they got the pictures mixed up with another sweater-vest-art-guy). I'm an artist (crappy), a school librarian (decent), and a Smeargle foster dad (World's Best).

I live with my starter (Fluffernutter the Cyndaquil, my Geriatric Baby) and three to five Smeargles at any given time. Two of them are mine- Degas and Waterhouse- and the rest are fosters.

I'm from Unova- born and raised in Virbank City- and I still live here today! (Though I work in a different city and I won't tell you which one.) I love my crappy hometown and will fight you for its honour. Don't Test Me.

I like movies a lot. Yes, I have been to PokeStar Studios, I have mixed feelings about it but overall I really like living close to ~where the magic happens~. Goomcharov is the best movie of all time. Fight me.

I want to travel, but so far, the only real ~adventures~ I've had were my Pokemon Journey when I was ten and a Study Abroad in Johto. I'd love to visit Paldea, Kalos, and Galar someday!

Then do it. It'll be harder for sure, but you can do it.

Then do it. it's never too late to pick up pokemon training, you're never to old to learn a new skill.

"I want to go on my Pokemon journey but I have a disability"

You can still do it. It'll be different, and in many cases harder, but it can be done- hell, your pokemon might even be able to help you.

"I want to go on a Pokemon journey but I don't want to go alone."

Then bring friends with you- or make friends. There's groups now on swablusky I saw just the other day for matching up with other trainers in your experience range to travel together.

"I want to go on a Pokemon journey but I don't have a rival."

You don't need one. If you have that kind of self-motivation to carry yourself further, you don't NEED a rival.

Pokemon training, pokemon journeys, pokemon contests, all of these things are for everyone. Your experience might be different or harder or strange to someone else. But that doesn't mean it's any less than anyone else's. If you're thinking about taking that step into the world of pokemon companionship? Do it. This is your sign to give it a try.

Do you have any references for pokemon genetic specialists? My Goldeen, Peaches, has started to get black spotting. I know Seaking have black markings but she doesn't battle. They have been steadily growing larger over the last year or so. When we've taken her in to the centre, they've said she seems fine and it's just something that happens. I've head of very young Goldeen having small black marks that turn gold but not the other way around.

i think this is something you'd be better off talking to a forum for fancy goldeen breeders about- because i have a feeling that peaches just happens to have some fancy blood in her genes! goldeen have been bred for thousands of years for unique coloration. while they don't usually have dark spots until they evolve, there's a line of goldeen that's bred for what's called "queen marking"- basically, a form of melanism that results in black markings as a goldeen and mostly black scales as a seaking. oftentimes these colors come in over time and aren't necessarily present when the goldeen hatches. given that she's gotten a clean bill of health, i think it's most likely that she's just got some funky color genes.

breeders' forums are great places to ask about unique coloration! fair warning, though, there are...let's just say some tensions in a lot of goldeen communities about coloration. something about these fish makes people weird about everything from their horn size to their fin shape.

#235. Smeargle live in groups, each with their own color of paint. They enjoy combing and preening their tails to be their favorite brush shape, and are more likely to pick shapes other Smeargle don't have. Together, they make full masterpieces.

Design process undercut

So this guy was a bit of a ride to design. At first, I decided to base it off lemurs, because I wanted to make smeargle an animal with a long tail + its more monkey like body. So I started studying lemurs

And then i realized that fuck, grafaiai exists LOL. thats literally a lemur aye-aye. So i had to pivot, and I considered other animals like coati and even just giving up and making it a dog like a bull terrier, but then I was talking to a friend who reminded me of kinkajous. and then it all came together. i also took the time to do some design studies for grafaiai, but you wont get to see that until i finish that design innit

After that, there wasn't much to worry about. Smeargle is a simple design and I kept most of it simple, with just adding some countershading to the body and some extra paint spots. The way the tail works is so that they're still able to grab on branches and use it normally, so the ink fur cuts off at the end and is only present on one side
