Communication with Greenville has been unreliable. The town has a citywide epidemic with symptoms that are similar to the ones my factory employees are coming down with. I can’t imagine the moss has spread that fast?
I’m not sure what it is, but they’re experiencing similar problems to my own...
oh shit
ahahahjkdghs this is so sloppy im sorry i dont usually animate things this complicated
im so tired now argh i skipped dinner for this. its a Really Big Deal. but hey at least im done even though i rushed it terribly towards the end lmao
How bad can I be?
very heartwarming. veeeryyyy heartwarming.
what a little shit
and then theres this asshole
so where’s that pin-up calendar
shh im giving you artists an idea that you should consider collaborating on
So I was listening to the commentary of The Lorax when the producers said that it was a 5 year span from when the Once-ler started biggering to when the last tree fell. That means that the Thneed market only lasted 5 years.
Damn.
Let’s talk about this image here. See the number of thneeds sold? I rounded it down to 5,268,870. I pulled the math, and over the course of five years, that means he cut down a tree every thirty seconds.
Now, I looked some things up, and I found out that, roughly, there’s about 278,400 trees in a square mile of land in a forest. Given that a thneed takes one full tuft to make (by the 72’ version logic), that puts his destruction to 18.925 square miles of economical destruction. Given the valley has a lot of bare patches, we can probably bump that number up to about 25 square miles. That’s 64.75 square kilometers, for you folks on the metric system.
Imagine a (American) football field. Now imagine 24,200 of them side-by-side. That is the area of impact of his thneed business.
(Hit “reblog as text” if you’re reblogging this, it’ll kill the format, otherwise)
i decided to remake my first lorax related fanart since it was so awful i didnt even include it in my art tag on this blog lmao

Thought the difference in lighting was cool. Lighting is wicked tough, but when you get it right, it’s the most rewarding friggin’ thing in the universe.
You guys should check out this guy’s website:

He’s a digital compositor. You Lorax fans will like the background image on his site.
In regards to lighting: Lighting is a character in itself, adding another layer of emotion to the animation and situation presented. These two shots here are a good example. The first (flat) shot is very nicely lit, but it’s almost too “busy” — the background is distracting and draws your focus away from the character. The second shot (compo) adds more depth to the scene, and the bright sunlight gives the shot a “blur” effect… which makes the foreground (and the characters in it) pop out more.
It’s amazing how such a small change can make a shot that much more interesting.
Wow, this is fascinating…
It’s so amazing how simple lighting can really change the look of a scene. Check out this guy’s site; it’s a treat.
