well i've been quiet recently, haven't i? figured i might as well do an updated into post since my old one is a mess. that said—

hello. im alive. ive been really quiet on here since my last post was from November of last year. im still writing the final chapters of Return to Oblivion, so dont fret, but it will be a while before they come out.
just recently, the demo for Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection came out and i am completely and utterly addicted. the demo alone holds so many secrets and things to do that its insanity! regardless, i started noticing a few things in the demo that had me make a theory regarding our dear friend Simon. demo spoilers beneath the cut.
please keep in mind that this is a theory and youre free to criticise it how you see fit since i may or may not get some information wrong. but simply put, i believe Simon will betray the main character at some point in the story.
Simon is the first ally you are introduced to once you start playing the game. and right away, something about him feels off. every other character that we meet in the demo is brightly coloured and possesses a unique Monstie companion; but Simon is muted, dull, and has a Legiana as his Monstie. this wouldn't be a problem if Gaul didnt already have a Legiana as well. additionally, Simon uses a longsword as his primary weapon, which Gaul also has (albeit lacking an element).
secondly, every member of the Rangers has some form of consistency with their uniforms except for Simon (and the main character for obvious reasons). also, the names of the Monsties for each of the Rangers are typically a pun on the species name (or the sound they make in the case of Chirpy) except for Simon's Legiana, whose name is Fawn.
the obvious association with the name would be a baby deer, which can be seen as a symbol of innocence if/when you think about it, which Legiana most certainly is not considering its status as an apex predator. but the word 'fawn' is also used in the terms 'fauned' and 'fauning' which (usually) mean to show an exaggerated amount of flattery, affection, or devotion. this could potentially line up with Simon's character as, after the betrayal of Queen Amara, he became the best friend of the player character. the timing is odd, but perhaps coincidental.
simply put, Simon appears innocent and trustworthy enough, but there may be something deeper there. the main question that went through my head before i came up with this theory was, "why would there be two allies that have the same weapon and Monstie? sure, they have different skills, but why not give Simon/Gaul a different Monstie or use a different weapon?"
perhaps im just insane and looking too deep into this, but i wanted to yap about this somewhere and get it out of my system. please let me know if theres anything to add or if i got anything wrong. and dont forget to drink water!
EDIT: after checking, Simon is also the only Ranger (sans Eleanor for obvious reasons) whose Kinship Stone is on his left hand andn not his right.

So many of you that have been around a bit may know that I’ve been working at a print shop that I loved dearly for over four years now. It’s grown into something untenable and it has become a constant drain on my mental and physical health, and I can no longer do it. I worked so hard when the rest of the team didn’t. I showed up and I put in my best, and tried to help fix the others’ mistakes as best I could. I was doing the job of at least four other people, and I was told that I was “easily replaceable” and “I didn’t know what I was doing.” The toxicity and the genuine disregard for the effort I was putting in - coming home with a limp every day because I barely sat down, working through my lunches so I didn’t inconvenience anyone else, etc - was too much. I have spoken to everyone in my close circle, my therapist, and my mom (who cannot support me in any way financially, and lives far away) and everyone agrees that the best thing for me was to leave.
However. It’s terrifying.
I know that this is NOT the right time in this economy to take a leap like this, and I am hoping I do end up finding something more stable in the future, but I need the time to recover and put my name out there again. All that to say:
I will be doing art full time to sustain myself!

its common knowledge that Roronoa Zoro is the only Strawhat named after a real life pirate, that being François l'Olonnais, with his surname of Roronoa being the Japanese pronunciation of l'Olonnais. however, under technicalities, hes not the only member named after someone or something in real life. that being Franky.
now, if youre about to say that everyone and their mother knows hes based on Popeye and Jim Carrey from Ace Ventura, i wont blame you, but just hold on a second. Franky's real name is Cutty Flam, and its an odd sounding name; however, its based on a real life British clipper ship named the Cutty Sark (built in River Leven, Dumbarton, Scotland, 1869.) this is even further emphasised with Franky's wanted poster having a picture of the Thousand Sunny.

At least 2 of these blogs have been confirmed by @gazavetters to be spamming blogs.
