I have about as much patience for "blue curtains" jokes as I do for "why did they teach me algebra, I'm never going to use it!"
It really fucking sucks that the school system is so rife with issues, but the anti-intellectualism of "I don't need this knowledge" is bullshit. You need to know how to talk about blue curtains because we live in a society dominated by a 24/7 media feed. You need to know algebra so you can do the math on your paycheck to make sure your boss isn't shorting you on your pay.
You need to know these things. It is not the knowledge that is bad, it's the fact that you weren't taught it effectively or in a way you could relate to.
The school system sucks, but "I don't need to know any of this and neither does anyone else, it's such a waste of time" is not the proper response.
"oh you have an allergy? sorry I harassed you for being a picky eater, I didn't realize you had a valid reason. it's good to know you're not actually a picky eater, I still get to harass those people"
"oh you have chronic pain? sorry I harassed you for being lazy, I didn't realize you had a valid reason. it's good to know you're not actually a lazy person, I still get to harass those people"
"oh you're autistic? sorry I harassed you for being weird, I didn't realize you had a valid reason. it's good to know you're not actually a weird person, I still get to harass those people"
"oh you're deaf? sorry I harassed you for ignoring me, I didn't realize you had a valid reason. you're just not actually a rude person, I still get to harass those people"
"man why does everything have to be a disorder now? I miss the old days when people would TAKE RESPONSIBILITY for being failures and it was socially exceptable for me to harass them, now I look like a jerk when I bully people for annoying me."

FYI for Labyrinth fans -- the movie will be shown on the big screen on March 6th and 10th, 2024. It's part of Fathom Events' Big Screen Classics series. The 2024 lineup also includes movies like My Fair Lady, The Neverending Story, Steel Magnolias, and others. I'm most excited for The Neverending Story, but giving a heads-up to the Labyrinth fans that it's also coming.

“the term mpreg is inherently transphobic because pregnancy is gender neutral” I hate to tell you this but in the pregnancy fetish fanfiction community they also use the term fpreg
there are -pregs you wouldn’t even dream of
christmas in less than a week no snow temperatures regularly hitting above 50°. IN MASSACHUSETTS
pisses me off so much when people bring this up and then are like “well i’m not complaining because i hate the cold!!!!” okay well you are in one of the Supposed to be cold states. Where the cold is supposed to happen. are you not worried
I WAS THINKING ABOUT THIS YESTERDAY
you’ll be like “it hasn’t snowed in 3 years. this is Very Bad.” and some idiot chucklefuck will come out of the woodwork to be like “that’s good for me, because i hate snow. i am very smart.”
