one thing tumblr has unironically done to improve my mental health is completely rewrite how i view disgust as a concept. there is no higher compliment to me than being told i have something wrong with me and should be ashamed of myself when i'm just living my life in a way that is perhaps odd and hard to understand, but ultimately as harmless as you can get in our society. which probably wasn't the intention of all the advice i got in therapy to reframe my negative thought patterns as more positive ones, but it's doing great things for me.

I can’t even think of a fluffy way to say this but if a nonbinary person is masculine presenting without being gnc in some way, they’re thrown under the bus. By transphobes, by allies, by the community. 99% of comments or replies to a post about nonbinary gender presentation are always some flavor of “let nonbinary people be feminine” Which is good!

But when every discussion and every post and every media portrayal is “feminine person that wears fancy makeup and either binds or wears sports bras” it’s a problem!!! Just get it out of your head that nonbinary is “woman lite” or “gender neutral afab” or “masc but only if they’re super gnc about it”

A lot of people will use having trauma as an excuse. “I was traumatised by men, I can’t allow anyone that looks like a man anywhere near me.” And we have to start saying no, that is not acceptable.

Like even if you can’t afford therapy for your trauma, it is still your responsibility to learn to deal with it. You cannot make your trauma the problem of total strangers. Not cis men, not trans men, not trans women, not intersex men, not intersex women, not nonbinary people, no one.

If your trauma means that you can’t share a queer space with people who have never done anything to hurt you, purely because of how they look – then you gotta leave the space. You need to practice until you can, but if you can’t then you are the one that has a problem. And you need to stop making your problems other peoples problem.

If you make a space for “women and nonbinary people” and a masculine-looking nonbinary person with a beard shows up and you have a problem with that? You are a fucking bioessentialist terf.
