nearly suffocating with laughter at the idea of snape attending some ministry-enforced teacher training and having to do those insufferable icebreaker activities that are like "say your name, your position, and a fun fact about yourself :)". he would hate it. he would die. i'm obsessed with the idea. what would he even say?

yeah there’s actually no source because i seem to have dreamed it up entirely🤣🤣🤣 someone noticed that before as well if you scroll through the notes. I thought this might have come from a ‘potions stained fingers’ passage but I can’t find reference to that either. I guess all of it was in my head?? Or maybe a lot of fanfics have used this as a description.

Hmm. I had the same impression as you, but I took a look in the books and I could only find nasty fingernail descriptions for Marvolo Gaunt and Fenrir Greyback.

He eats like shit when he’s not at Hogwarts imo. He has like one meal a day when he remembers. Something stupid and awful. Canned beans hit with a warming charm, eaten straight from the tin. Spam sandwiches made with council bread, margarine, and no veg. Sometimes he buys the ingredients for a proper sandwich but then just ends up eating sliced ham from the bag with his hands. Just. Packets of biscuits and crisps instead of a real meal. He’ll also fit in some coffee or really strong tea somewhere in there.

This goes on for like days or weeks at a time, until he’s hit with inspiration and makes fancy meals for himself. I’m talking high end shit. Exotic ingredients. Maybe things that require a lot of skill to master. It’s like potions but more forgiving and more tasty. I’m talking like paella, charred elk, beef wellington with puff pastry from scratch, macarons, soufflés, home made consommé. The works.

My headcanon: He’s really, really good at cooking. He’s just a stinky disaster man that falls apart easily and can’t function at this level for very long. So after a few days or maybe weeks of this fancyness he’s back on his tinned beans bullshit.

Oh and just realized I ended up not even talking about food preferences. I think he’s the sort of guy that will eat anything. I like to think he has a sweet tooth, and kinda has a taste for shitty muggle foods as well.
