Pagan / Wiccan Erasure : Something Happened Today
Weird thing happened in my class today I'm in a class for my masters on marriage during late antiquity and the early medieval period Our lecturer asked us a question about what Jesus said about divorce and no one answered "You're all a bunch of pagans" he laughed
“Yep - pagan and proud" I typed in the chat Because I am. I'm a practicing pagan witch who marks all of the wiccan sabbats of the year, worships pagan gods and practices magic and wicca in my every day life He laughed and nodded. I looked up at my altar with it's candles burning, my offerings to Freyja and Loki, and my hand made wreath, and realised he'd thought I was joking. I realised that my autistic way of thinking had perhaps made my words come across less sincerely than I meant them.
Initially I was only vaguely amused and irritated.
Then I realised why. If I’d said anything else, muslim, christian, hindu, he wouldn’t have laughed. But because I’m wiccan and pagan, I wasn’t taken seriously.
It didn’t sit right with me. I felt very put off by the fact that I’d stated yes this is my religion and I am proud of it, and I hadn’t been taken seriously.
I think this comes down to the fact that paganism and wiccan beliefs have been sidelines as fictional and mythological.
Has anyone else experienced this? How did it make you feel?
Happy Mabon!
To everyone celebrating today have a merry day.
Remember to give thanks for what you’re grateful, celebrate the harvest, and have a beautiful day!
Happy Mabon!!! ✨🍁🍞🕯🌻🍂 🌾✨
Mabon is the welcoming of fall/autumn equinox. It is a time to give thanks and appreciate people and things around you. It is one of three harvest festivals on the wheel of the year, and also the time of the year when day and night are equal lengths. This year Mabon starts on September 21, 2020.
I thought I might share what I am doing for Mabon to remind others that it is here as well as give some inspo! 🔮✨
I have been spending as much time with my family (it’s pretty easy since we are in quarantine), family is anyone who you love and makes you feel safe, blood related or not.
I went for a walk, and plan on going on more, in the forest near my house, I was able to clean up some litter and also collect some acorns!
It’s getting colder which means it’s sweater weather, so I have brought out some hoodies and jumpers that have colours that correspond with Mabon.
My family and I made dinner together, and me and my sister also plan to make cookies!
I am reorganizing and cleaning my altar.
There were some vegetables in our garden so we picked them and plan on using them in our meals.
I am taking time to appreciate what I am thankful for, and I am also trying to set goals (especially for the online school year).
I hope everyone has a happy and blessed Mabon! 🔮🍁✨🕯🌻
Harvest fires,
brightness burns,

Autumn turns,

REBLOG IF YOU SUPPORT TRANS WITCHES.
I saw some posts and accounts that really bummed me out tonight. Some people are so proud to be transphobic and it’s disgusting. I’m terrified that I accidentally follow some TERFS without realizing it.
Show trans people some love in the midst of all of this hate that is still going around.
