Two people affected by a tethering spell/curse that causes one to feel the otherās pain and healing, but it also applies to other sensations as well
To test the extent of it, Person A sniffs something strong scented that wouldnāt normally affect them, like a scented candle. They feel fine, but the one they are tethered to, Person B, their nose twitches as they scrunch it up, feeling the scent fill their sinuses even though theyāre standing away. Theyāre quick to hitch up to a sneeze, nose far more sensitive to scents
Andāsince theyāre linked, after all, despite the scent not bothering them, that tickle in Aās nose suddenly surges at Bās sneeze, and they donāt even have time to react before theyāre doubled over with an echoed sneeze, to their utter surpriseĀ
Gods help them if one of them has allergiesĀ
it occurred to me that this scenario gets tastier if you throw in some dislike and tension. maybe the two are really annoyed about being tethered. maybe they already knew the other is the last person on the planet they wanna be tethered to.
person B has always been irritated by their nose during springtime and whenever they find themselves around a particularly floral perfume. flowers are pretty, but they drive Bās nose crazy
one thing, though, that drives B further up the wall than a bouquet of fluffy flowers is Aās presence in their life, something that has now become unavoidable after the curse
A pesters B, nags them, gets under their skin. they seem to enjoy being as grating as possible. they tease b about the curse, laugh at their sensitivity to certain sensations. B remembers the afternoon that A spent dragging their fingers across the back of their own neck, sending pinpricks down the back of Bās neck, keeping them from focusing on anything besides squirming in their chair. A seems almost amused by their ability to send such vivid sensations across Bās skin
fine, B thinks. maybe A wants a taste of their own medicine.
they seek out something they know will set them off. A likes to go on and on about how unbothered they are by being tethered together, how much fun theyāre having. letās see how fun this is
B takes a good, deep breath full of the strongest perfume they can sample. itās some floral mix, rosy and lavender-y and nice if not extremely itch-inducing. they stand with tissues at the ready, prepared to weather out the storm
like clockwork, a sharp itch shoots through the back of Bās nose. they take another breath in of the sweet scent and pause as they try to hold back the sneeze, their eyes watering
also like clockwork, A can feel the tickle from wherever they are. they freeze as the tickle teases them and tears prick at the back of their eyes. come on, they urge silently. this itch is unlike anything theyāve ever felt. itās deep and sharp and they can smell that itās being caused by something flowery. they glance around for any assaulting object, but when nothing seems amiss they realize that this itch isnāt from their end of the tether
after a moment of futile sniffling, B can no longer hold back the impending fit. they release one sneeze at first, and so does A, who sighs in relief. but B knows that theyāre not done, something A shortly realizes with dread
both their breaths catch, and they pitch forward with another sneeze. B is ready with tissues to catch their fit, while A is trying to find a place to step away to in order to sneeze for who-knows-how-long
B knows how long, and they gasp for air knowing full well that theyāre not even close to being done. this was their plan, of course, and theyāre ready to ride it through if it means teaching A a lesson
indeed, A has a much harder time navigating the allergy attack than B does. theyāve never sneezed like this before in their life. itās one after the other: three, four, five, six⦠seven, eight, nine⦠they have trouble getting air into their lungs between- ten! eleven, oh gods twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, what the fuck is b doing jesus christ
B is smirking through the sneezes. each one brings little relief to the itch but a great boost to Bās ego. they can almost feel Aās distress, and they can certainly feel the way that A is squashing their hand against their nose to try and quell the itch. B takes another sniff of the perfume, sending another wave of itchiness through both of their noses. this time they pinch their fingers around their nostrils in an attempt to keep from sneezing. their eyes water and their sinuses burn and they can hardly breathe, but they know A feels the same. they take shallow breaths as they hold back on the next bout of sneezes, eyelids fluttering and nostrils flaring wildly against their fingers
A can tell that B is trying not to sneeze. they donāt know why, whatās going on, but they do know that the itch is blinding. they havenāt been able to see clearly for a couple minutes at this point. Aās nose is so itchy, and they know Bās is too. they canāt think about what B might be doing to cause this, though, because theyāre so desperate to let the sneezes out. maybe thereās a reason B is keeping them back?
curses, who cares about the reason? not A, who right now only cares about relieving the itch. they lift their own shaky hand and trace a finger down their septum
B feels this, and itās enough to push them past their threshold. they barely have time to pull a tissue against their nose before the sneezes are tearing through them, and A in turn. they sneeze for maybe a minute straight, gasp for air afterwards. B can feel that A was less prepared than they were, and can feel the mess leaking from their nose. B is sure the heat in their cheeks must be from Aās end of the tether
it is admittedly fun from the other end, B realizes. maybe A will remember this next time they feel like bothering B any more than they physically have to
TLDR; The way ableism in the Whumptober community has been handled this year is incredibly disappointing at best and ableist in and of itself at worst.
Iāve mentioned this in reblogs and sent in related asks to @whumptober before (only one or two of the asks were answered) but I have some serious issues with how Whumptober has been handled this year from an ableism perspective.
First of all, there were multiple prompts that were heavily tied to specific disabilities. The one Iām focusing on for this post is āSeizuresā on day 7 because I have epilepsy, but I know day 7 also had āSilent Panic Attackā as a prompt and āAllergic Reactionā was another prompt off the top of my head. While the prompts are released ahead of time and the event allows you to start working on your prompts as soon as the prompts are released, Whumptober is still a daily writing challenge and the prompts are only released about a month in advance, giving people an average of 2 days to write a prompt if theyāre aiming to be completionist. That is not enough time to handle these prompts with the respect they deserve, so these prompts should not be included.
I realize that by the time I brought it up it was too late to retract the prompts, but there was no encouragement to the participants to handle the topics properly in their fills, nor was there any indication that this will be taken into account when selecting prompts in the future. In fact the blog said multiple times that it was ok to be medically inaccurate, and while my ask with my opinion that you should be medically accurate when it comes to disability related prompts was answered and shared, there was far more encouragement to just write whatever you found fun with complete disregard for medical accuracy shared, and the conversation was shut down entirely soon after that ask was answered.
The blog theyāve been reblogging prompt fills to has not been taking into account possible ableism when reblogging fills. I read through almost all of the fills for the seizure prompt and there was only one fic that I remember being handled well (though I canāt remember which one off the top of my head and it was not one of the ones shared to @whumptober-archive). Also, a lot of people made gif sets to fill the seizures prompt, which is inherently, if unintentionally, ableist, as it treats seizures voyeuristically, romanticizing and trivializing the seriousness of seizures. One of these gif sets was reblogged to the archive blog and multiple ableist fics have been reblogged as well. I have asked for them to at least consider taking down the reblog and the more blatantly ableist fics, but have gotten no response on this and the reblogs are still there.
I understand that thereās a lot of work already going into this event, and that how people choose to fill the prompts canāt be controlled, however, taking into consideration the nature of the event, prompts that are likely to lead to ableist fills should not be included, and ableist fills should not be promoted by the event runners.
Thinking about the time I saw a post on ig that was a screenshot of a tumblr post that was likeĀ āa lawyer whoās arguing but heās crying but heās still getting through itā but worded a lil more poetically, and I thoughtĀ āhuh, sounds like a post you might find on snzblrā

!!!PLEASE DO NOT REBLOG TO NON KINK BLOGS!!!
alrighty here goes nothinThought Iād post some of my snz art on here involving one of my characters! Heās a wild magic sorcerer, and I thought it would be really funny if he was really allergic to Pixie dust. I wanted him to have some sort of silly unusual allergy, and Fairy dust seemed to fitting!
The expressions are fabulous! šŖ
i'm sure this has been said somewhere on here by now but something that's always interesting to me is how some people have such a good warning time for their sneezes. like i have maybe like a good second or two of warning before my natural sneezes (i feel like when i'm inducing i have more time before it happens or i can kinda prolong it for my own [and other people's] pleasure lmfao).
it's also interesting to see what other people prefer; a person sneezing without any warning, or a person who is clearly about to sneeze and the visuals are strong enough for everyone around them to notice. personally, i love those long drawn out seconds beforehand. the realization of a sneeze coming on. the eyes half shut, mouth slightly open, maybe trying to fend off the sneeze altogether or just giving in to the urge entirely. having the crook of your arm already in front of your chest, slowly anticipating that you'll have to raise it up to your face. the build-up. the hitching. even better if the person is trying to refrain from sneezing and the hitching and gasping borderlines on moaning as they try to will away the tickly feeling in their nose. all that in just a few seconds before the sneeze occurs......so hot.......
is anyone else obsessed w the idea of ahegao face + snz? no?? just me???
People who make snz wavs where they've already sneezed like 30 times, but throw in a "I think I'm gonna sneeze" anyway I love you and you're hot
