Arfid, like most disorders, isn’t defined in a certain way, but more by the person suffering with it.

To me, my eating disorder means that there is only a handful of safe foods and meals I can eat.

To me, it means that trying new foods, something most people enjoy, is terrifying. Just the thought of eating a non safe food can give me an anxiety attack.

To me, this mean I can’t go out to for food with friends or family who don’t understand my condition for fear that my food choice will be limited to side dishes which sometimes get ridiculed or safe foods that in this restaurant, pub or cafe, might not actually be safe anymore.

Most people don’t know that Afrid exist, much less know what it means. This blog is here to change that
