Fuck the double standards.
I was walking in the forest during winter, and saw a wendigo sitting under a tree. I asked it if it was going to kill me. It said, āNo, this is just a dream.ā So I sat next to it in the snow for a bit and then he said, āThe anger in your heart warms you now, but will leave you cold in your grave.ā And then I woke up.
Well SOMEONEāS third eye is wide fucking open

I love different.
This is different, and simple, and for some reason it just made my day.
I donāt know what we did to deserve Mr. Rogers but Iām so glad we had him.Ā
wow not gonna name any names but SOMEBODY (me) needs 2 calm down!!!!
Usually, the uglier the laugh, the more genuine it is.
Honestly something that bothers me more than most things is having my compassion mistaken for naivety.
I know that another fish might eat this bullfrog right after I spend months rehabilitating it.
I know that turning a beetle back onto its legs wonāt save it from falling over again when I walk away.
I know that there is no cosmic reward waiting for my soul based on how many worms I pick off a hot sidewalk to put into the mud, or how many times Iāve helped a a raccoon climb out of a too-deep trashcan.Ā
I know things suffer, and things struggle, and things die uselessly all day long. Iām young and idealistic, but Iām not literally a child. I would never judge another person for walking by an injured bird, for ignoring a worm, or for not really caring about the fate of a frog in a pond full of, yāknow, plenty of other frogs.
There is nothing wrong with that.
But I cannot cannot cannot look at something struggling and ignore it if I may have the power to help.
There is so much bad stuff in this world so far beyond my control, that I take comfort in the smallest, most thankless tasks. Itās a relief to sayĀ āI can help you in this moment,ā even though they donāt understand.
I donāt need a devilās advocate to tell me another fish probably ate that frog when I let it go, or that the raccoon probably ended up trapped in another dumpster the next night.
I know!!!! I know!!!!!!! But today I had the power to help! So I did! And it made me happy!
So just leave me alone alright thank u!!!!
THIS.
I heard a story about this, a parable I guess.
There was a big storm and a ton of starfish were washed onto the beach, stranded much further up than they could get back and beginning to bake in the post-storm sunshine. A little girl was walking down the beach, picking up starfish and throwing them back into the sea. Some guy comes up and asks her what sheās doing. āSaving the starfish,ā she says.
He looks around at the huge beach and the hundreds of starfish, and says āYou canāt possibly save them all. Iām afraid youāre not gonna make much of a difference.ā
She throws another starfish back into the ocean, and replies āIt made a difference to that one.ā
Yeah, I mean, we know we canāt change all the things. But have you ever noticed how much better life is when youāre around people who change things when they can?
Kindness is a choice. Even if itās small, itās worth it.
This is what Iām talking about, when I say that kindness and compassion do not equate with ignorance, stupidity, or naivety. Being cynical does not make someone more intelligent or more worldly.Ā
Kindness is not weakness.
Kindness is brave. Especially when you also know that your kindness might not be returned, may even be met with anger or cruelty. Itās reaching out with an open hand, knowing that itās just as likely to be bitten as it is to be held.Ā
Kindness is hard. If you canāt find it in yourself to be kind, then fine. But donāt make it more difficult for those that can.
Reminds me so much of mini-prinz and his tales of picking up snails off the sidewalk š

Thereās a new girl in my kindergarten class whoās autistic and itās like sheās barely / not really verbal but like idk she opened up to me a little, I donāt tell people Iām on the spectrum at work because they already treat me horribly because Iām the only poc there but like sheās a little Latina girl who I know exactly how she feels and like I was like āhey Nina, If you donāt wanna talk itās okay, just thumbs up or thumbs down if you understand the (math) problem? Okay?ā So we sorta made like a thumbs up and thumbs down thing between us and today it was the most surreal thing because I like āI know they tell you to make eye contact but Iām gonna tell you a trick, look at their neck, chin, hair, and whatever is behind them, I donāt like eye contact very much either? Thumbs up?ā And she said with the smallest voice āThankyou , for not saying Iām dumbā I wanna be the person I needed when I was her age
