This is a gentle, earnest reminder to anyone who needs to hear it that no matter what the media tries to tell you, no matter how fearmongering some people try to be, no matter what happens in this one election, it will be okay. Please don't lose hope if your candidate doesn't win. The world will not end no matter who gets into office. Some people want us to be afraid and at each others' throats, but hating each other isn't going to make things better or solve our problems. We're all people and we all have value.

If things get too stressful, you are not weak or wrong to take time for yourself, away from the news and the yelling, and focus on all of the beautiful, good things in your life that aren't going away. Family. Friends. Sunshine. Your favorite snack. Pretty colors. Pets. Those funny memes. That show you like. A warm beverage.

Rest. Humans are not meant to carry every weight of the world on their shoulders at once. Allow yourself to trust and believe that there is still good in the world no matter who is in office.

Not only are you guys unbelievably callous, but you’re also just not smart. At the very least, withhold your support for Kamala UNTIL she commits to a ceasefire. Make your intentions to her clear that you will vote for her IF she withdraws support from Israel. By uncritically supporting her, by louding voicing the fact across every social media platform that you’re going to vote for her, and even straight up saying with your whole chest that you’re putting your interests first before the Palestinians (seriously you guys have no shame. Like it is actually shocking to me how unbelievably cruel some of you are), and most especially by DONATING to her lmfaoo….you are letting her know, you are literally EXPLICITLY telling her, that the Palestinians are fair game. You are telling her she can kill as many Palestinians as she wants, drop as many bombs on the Middle East as she wants, and it’s ok because you will still vote for her anyway.

For the love of God, if you are in the USA, PLEASE try to understand the power of your vote. Your vote decides if someone in another part of the world dies. Please at least try to feel the gravity of that. Please at least TRY to put pressure on your politicians. This uncritical and loud support is the worst thing you can do. You are signing a death sentence for the people of Gaza with your actions.

listen as a canadian who only needs to deal with the fallout of the election not the direct affects of project 2025, this is a deeply funny situation. however as someone with empathy.... there is a very good chance that this shooting is going to push some undecided voters right, and unite the republican party further around trump, which is fucking horrible. so yeah, please remember to vote VOTE.GOV is an official US government website which can get you registered to vote. vote in your primaries, vote in your runoffs, and vote ALL the way down your ballot, every single person you vote for matters, especially at the local and state levels.

EDIT: the shooter was killed as was an attendee and at least one other was injured, everything i said beyond 'this is a deeply funny situation' stands, but please have some fucking empathy for everyone involved today, no one 'deserves' to be a victim of gun violence, and that includes people who's beliefs and actions you dislike.
