Drag
"Drag" - Jegulus Microfic - @into-the-jeggyverse - 455 words
--------------------------------------
Regulus knew as soon as he saw him that James wasn't okay.
It was in the tightness of his jaw and the steady, soothing circles he kept rubbing into his palms - right, then left, and then right again.
"Reg!" Sirius bounced up to him. "Hey, I'm glad you're -"
"Why is he here?" Regulus interrupted.
Sirius winced. "We couldn't convince him to stay home. He doesn't want to drop company morale."
Regulus took that in with a resigned nod. "I'll take him home."
"We've only been here thirty minutes," Sirius warned him. They both knew James tried to appear at every company party for at least two hours.
"I'll drag him out if I need to," Regulus promised.
James smiled as soon as he spotted him. "Reg! Hi, love. How was your meeting?"
"It was fine." Regulus gave him a soft kiss on the cheek. "Why aren't you at home?"
James gave him an apologetic look. "I just got here, it's not even been an hour."
"You have a migraine," Regulus pointed out. "And you're miserable."
James didn't deny it. "I'll go home a little early."
"Now." Regulus grabbed his hand, tugging gently. "Please."
James hesitated. "Reg, I'm not supposed to-"
"Please, Jamie?" Regulus asked, pouting a little.
It was a manipulation tactic, and they both knew it, but James melted immediately. "Okay." He gave Regulus a soft smile. "Whatever you want."
"I want to go home," Regulus said. He kept James's hand, weaving back through the crowd. "I want you to take the medication that knocks you out, go to sleep, and let me make breakfast in the morning if you're up to eating."
They made it outside, and Regulus stopped at the car. "And I want you to stop putting your health below everything else on the fucking planet, but that's a work in progress."
James met his eyes, soft and a bit regretful. "I'm sorry." His voice got quieter. "I'm trying."
"I know," Regulus promised, and he did. He knew that James had skipped work today, when two months ago, he wouldn't have even considered it. He knew that James had sent him a text asking if he could come home a little early tonight, even though he hated asking for anything. He knew. "And you're doing a really good job, Jamie. I'm just worried."
James nodded. "I'll do better."
Regulus shook his head before pulling James into a slow kiss.
When they separated, it was just enough for Regulus to speak.
"You don't have to do better." He couldn't help brushing James's lips again before continuing. "You're already doing your best."
An actual separation, this time, and Regulus made sure James was looking at him. "That's all you ever have to do."
Dorcas: Okay Regulus, Fuck, Marry, Kill. James, Remus, Evan
Regulus: Fuck Remus, Marry James, Kill Barty
Barty: I wasn’t even an option!
Evan: I don’t know whether to be offended or just happy to be alive

Okay, I was just going to reblog this without commentary, but I can't keep this to myself. I'm a PhD student in environmental science and this is my fucking highway.
The first published study about climate change (that I am aware of-- feel free to point out if there's an older one) is an 1896 paper by Svante Arrhenius. He pointed out the link between the greenhouse effect and changes in atmospheric CO2.
Plate tectonics, which the geoscience community now recognizes as near indisputable, was a fringe theory until about the 1960s.
Just in case anyone thought that climate change was a "recent fad" in research.
The Black Brothers
Regulus & Sirius
New York City ballet production of Midsummer Nights Dream
The fact this isn't a painting is a testament to one of the greatest feats of set design and production I've ever seen.
My god just look at this! The lighting, set design, photography... I've just never seen anything like it.
I think this is the first time I've ever been wowed by "this ISN'T a painting"!

Satan falling:
jegulus + the look of love
Do you think that the brotherhood of Sirius and Regulus falling apart was inevitable?
Yes and no.
I think that they were born into situations where you can not escape from.
There was a big debate about wheatear regulus was right for being angry...
My take on that was always that Sirius was right to leave, and Regulus was right to be angry .
You can't blame a 16-year-old child for wanting to survive.
The same you can't, you can't blame 15- year-old for grieving the loss of his only source of safety.
They were doomed from the bigging, but at the same time, I believe they never left each other .
They haunted each other alive or not.
They loved and hated each other, wishing that that the other changed knowing they neither of them could.
I think that's all I've been thinking about it the whole day, and I still don't have a straight answer .
remus "eat out the rich" lupin

Peter: I can’t believe we get to go to France for our school trip! That should be fun
Remus: I have so many places to go, so many things to do, The Eiffel Tower, The Louvre!
James: A French guy, that’s what I wanna do
James: Reg is coming, right Pads?
Sirius: …not anymore
OMG CAN THIS BE A WOLFSTAR FIC PLEASE I BEG.
So, I saw this image on Facebook, and it was supposedly showing what Queen Nefertiti would have looked like in real life:
Now, I thought this AI generated garbage was just truly terrible on a number of levels; first off, she looks wayyyyyy too modern - her makeup is very “Hollywood glamour”, she looks airbrushed and de-aged, and as far as I’m aware, Ancient Egyptians didn’t have mascara, glitter-based eyeshadows and lip gloss. Secondly, her features are exceptionally whitewashed in every sense - this is pretty standard for AI as racial bias is prevalent in feeding AI algorithms, but I genuinely thought a depiction of such a known individual would not exhibit such euro-centric features. Thirdly, the outfit was massively desaturated and didn’t take pigment loss into consideration, and while I *do* like the look of the neck attire, it's not at all accurate (plus, again, AI confusion on the detailing is evident).
So, this inspired me to alter the image on the left to be more accurate based off the sculpture’s features. I looked into Ancient Egyptian makeup and looked at references for kohl eyeliner and clay-based facial pigment (rouge was used on cheeks, charcoal-based powder/paste was used to darken and elongate eyebrows), and I looked at pre-existing images of Nefertiti, both her mummy and other reconstructions. While doing this, I found photos of a 3D scanned sculpture made by scientists at the University of Bristol and chose to collage the neck jewellery over the painting (and edited the lighting and shadows as best as I could).
Something I see a lot of in facial recreations of mummies is maintaining the elongated and skinny facial features as seen on preserved bodies - however, fat, muscle and cartilage shrink/disappear post mortem, regardless of preservation quality; Queen Nefertiti had art created of her in life, and these pieces are invaluable to developing an accurate portrayal of her, whether stylistic or realistic in nature.
And hey, while I don't think my adjustments are perfect (especially the neck area), I *do* believe it is a huge improvement to the original image I chose to work on top of.
I really liked working on this project for the last few days, and I think I may continue to work on it further to perfect it. But, until then, I hope you enjoy!
Remember, likes don't help artists but reblogs do!
