osamu was never one to make a big deal about his birthday. why would he bother when atsumu made a big fuss every year without fail and garnered as much attention as he possibly could? that meant, by extension, that osamu was always dragged into his birthday celebrations whether he wanted to or not. he didn’t mind the fuss and sure, he loved the excessive amount of food and gifts he always received, but he couldn’t help but feel selfish. he just wanted a day to himself. a day to do whatever he wanted to do. his life was always filled with the presence of his loudmouthed twin but now that they had grown older and gone down separate paths in their lives, he had time to be selfish. he had time to be alone and do whatever he wanted to celebrate another year of getting older. however, he once again found that this wasn’t possible. because now he had you.

everyone dreads april fools day when they miyas are around. they are relentless with their pranks and whilst they are’t as outlandish when they get older, they still try to team up every year and wreak havoc for everyone else around them.

when they were kids they would prank each other. atsumu would jump out from behind corners and cause his twin to shriek in surprise. osamu would retaliate by tying his brother’s shoelaces together and would laugh when he landed flat on his face. after a couple of years of pranking each other, they finally realised how powerful they could be if they teamed up. so for one day every year they would get along in the most terrifying sense to prank everyone else around them.

in high school they would confuse all their teachers and classmates by switching their hair dye and attending each other’s classes for the day. everyone would be confused about atsumu’s sudden attentiveness to his studies and how he wore his school uniform correctly. they would also be confused as to why osamu would shout over the teacher and end up getting sent out for throwing pencils across the room.

once when they had volleyball practice they put salt in everyone else’s water bottles, causing absolute mayhem in the gym. aran didn’t stop coughing for almost half an hour and suna barely made it to the bathroom before throwing up. kita scolded them both and sent them home early, knowing immediately they were behind the chaos (he should have been glad they stuck with the salt, atsumu was intending to use laxatives until osamu put a stop to his plans)

it didn’t stop even as they grew up. the rest of the MSBY jackals would watch on in amusement as kiyoomi chased atsumu around the court, yelling death threats at his fellow teammate. atsumu had poured an entire tube of glitter into kiyoomi’s body wash and it was safe to say he was less than impressed. “i would apologise omi-omi but ya look so nice and sparkly! yer like a vampire” the setter would chuckle whilst his raven-haired teammate chased after him in hot pursuit, leaving a trail of twinkling footsteps in his wake.

the customers at onigiri miya would be frustrated when none of the sauces would come out the bottles properly, thanks to osamu putting a thin layer of plastic wrap over each one before replacing the lid. they would also be extremely confused when their food arrived. why did the nori on the outside of their onigiri look like a winking face? and was their rice supposed to be a neon green colour? (he only added the food dye a few times before realising he could end up with a customer complaint)

no matter where they were in the world they would always inform each other of their pranks on the morning of april 1st, then they would report back their respective successes at the end of the day. osamu would chuckle at his brother’s excited retellings of his pranks and atsumu would gawk at his twin’s outlandish attempts, shocked he would go so far as to try and prank his customers. they were absolute menaces every single year, but they wouldn’t have it any other way.
