What the Megan trails shows over and over again is many Black men simply want the power white men have to behave without consequence.

Gun violence for Black women in America is a problem of misogyny and Black men's obsession with possession, male supremacy/ woman hatred and dominance. Black women in America are more likely to be killed with a gun when suffering intimate partner violence compared to other women. The gun is the weapon of choice by Black men against Black women in the US.

This reminds me of the portrait of Isabella de Medici that a Victorian painter had the fucking audacity to paint over because he thought it would make the portrait easier to sell.

Thankfully, modern conservation techniques revealed that it was not just a lazy, anachronistic fake and they were able to remove the over painting.

The Victorian painter made her look timid and doe eyed. He removed all the character from her face. He even made her hand smaller.

Beauty standards are meaningless bullshit to keep women in line, never satisfied, always chasing patriarchal approval. Cutting up your face and body is an incredibly temporary solution because in a few years, beauty standards will change, like they always do. It will always be a losing game.

Remember, no woman is obligated to be beautiful. Your body is a tool for experiencing and enjoying the world, not a decorative object. Ignore beauty standards/trends and grow that leg hair, baybee!

I feel like crying and I’m not even the victim. The way that so many black women felt so connected to this trial especially with the way the black community showed themselves when it came to standing with a black woman… we never get justice… and now Megan has justice… but we all know that Megan getting justice at the expense of a black man going to jail has put a even bigger target on her back than she had before.

She had someone she trusted shoot her and then had multiple people in the industry orchestrating lies to make her out to be the villain… do you know how much hatred that takes to do???

I’m stand with Megan Pete and will continue to do so.
