Adrian headcanon finally dropped!!!!

I had a real breakthrough when I realised that for me, RockAdrian is a "match my freak" marriage.

Eridian Adrian has body mods that are pushing it even for eridians, with permanent jewellery drilled into their carpace all over and metal inlays enhancing some of their carvings. They are just as eccentric and curious as Rocky.

I took inspiration from my beloved Nasha from Mickey 17: I believe Adrian looks at Rocky with so much adoration and protectiveness but also so much unbridled hunger. Rocky seldom stands a chance (and loves it!!!)

For the human version, I turned to some afro goth styles (and the grills Stack wears in Sinners because I love them so). Look at them, so young when they met! Both are ... Some Gender, for sure. It's nobody's business.

The two unnamed desert na'vi and their fashion/materials for comparison. I'm not planning on expanding on the left na'vi, just the green one.

They live in the most extreme desert, there is no water, there is no oasis.

They migrate for water, based off a plant/creature that's similar to a giant yucca tree and the leaf pitcher plant.

Like how some of the plants can somehow generate electricity and energy through the environment--this plant generates water, or more accurately dew. It move from location to location for the proper conditions to create this dew, perception from the air or something.

they are cave dwellers, and if the Tlalim actually traversed across their desert, this clan would be known for their lotions, salves and leather work.

They herd a meer-deer like creature, for its milk and to ride. They're kept at the mouth of the cafe typically.

Their closest neighbouring clan would be a desert clan like the left na'vi.

Their diet is the same as the Mangkwan, as any plants that do grow (usually cactus or thorn-plants) are instead harvested for what little medicinal uses they provide.

they get hydration primarily from that mirgrating yucca tree, but also from bugs and the very minimal rain water. (does it even rain in the desert...)

To be a Tsahik/Oloeyktan you must NOT go with the clan for the migration. Instead you stay home, and guard the spirit tree for months all by yourself. Many Na'vi do not survive this, but those who do are given the same level of respect as Tsahik/Oloeyktan or elders.

So for my Avatar (2009) rewrite I'm thinking of potential martial arts for the Na'vi. I think grappling on horseback would be really cool, the Na'vi horse equivalent being direhorse or Pa'li. What I have in mind for the martial art is seeing how long one can maintain Tsaheylu with Pa'li while fighting your opponent and seeing who can throw the other off first. I think another idea I have for a different style of martial arts is hand to hand combat. Specifically Tsaheylu wrestling which is similar to Varang weaponizing Tsaheylu except it is a mutually agreed upon fighting arrangement (for the most part). We kind of see this with Varang and Kiri fighting for control over each other except there's no hand to hand combat.

While researching there's actually a real life equivalent to the Pa'li grappling and it's called Er Enish which is a Kyrgyz equestrian sport.

I'm potentially considering writing an Avatar (2009) rewrite. There are some major things I want changed. For example, Neytiri becoming Olo'eyktan instead of Tsu'tey and Jake. Possibly even removing Tsu'tey from the story all together because it feels like his character was soley written to be Jake's opposition to make the audience root for Jake. If Jake weren't in the story Tsu'tey's role would just be leader in the making but then I'm left asking why and what else is there to his character and what makes him qualified at all to be the leader? I think his role would be pointless to the story.

I hate to say it but to be frank Neytiri is also a nothing burger. Her character feels like a tutorial for Jake and even when there's evident betrayal the plot moves on when he becomes Toruk Makto. Her anger just disappears entirely even though he decided to ignore her wishes and do what he wanted. "I was afraid for my people but not anymore". That line pissed me off so badly... Girl where is your backbone?

The world of Pandora feels strangely patriarchal as well within the film franchises.

When her father's dying words to Neytiri was protect the people while giving her his bow... That moment felt like he was passing on his torch to Neytiri just for Tsu'tey to still be clan leader and for Jake to become Toruk Makto. I would want Jake to not be selfish and want to redeem himself by not taking the Na'vi's agency away but perhaps by teaching Neytiri about ways to combat the sky people because he knows them best. I think it would be a neat way to show a mutual respect for one another just as Neytiri trusted him to be respectful to Pandora, there wouldn't be a power imbalance or information gap. It would be cool to see Neytiri train for war and for them to train the Omatikaya together. It would also be cool to see Neytiri unite the tribes like her grandfather. It would be a full circle moment.

This is honestly a random thing I would change but it would be the mate courting... I think more context could be added to how it works other than you getting to choose your mate but that's just a nitpick. I love all aspects of world building so if there's something that can be added that separates the Na'vi from human customs, I'm all for it. I think it would be cool if there was a custom for when a member of a clan is exiled they can fight to make a case for themselves to re-enter the clan. I think it would be cool to see Neytiri and Jake fight to see the strengths they both have and also see what they're lacking. It would also be more cathartic. Quaritch said the Na'vi were hard to kill and it would be cool to see that in action. Perhaps even Na'vi martial arts that Jake is clueless about.
