THE WITCH - VAT7K ANIMATIC

Hi gng, this is FINALLY finished omg. I didn’t think I’d ever get this done and I thought it would sit in my drafts for forevermore but I REALLY wanted to tell this part of the story with this song. Like it felt important. So here it is! I don’t know if I like it that much + this was my first time using Toonsquid (WOAH) so forgive me for any choppy editing! I’m still trying to get used to the program

Ramble about animatic under cut!

Okay so basically this song is like. SUPER important to me? And I thought it fit Ulla super well with the whole “Eternal Library Guardian” thing she has going on. This is the scene where she possesses Varian (no shit) and I wanted to give her a gravely creepy sort of unhinged kind of vibe. I think being isolated for 18ish years would make her extremely cooky and unsettling.

At first, Varian is obviously overjoyed to see her, but he immediately finds out that something is OFF. LIKE VERY OFF. And I wanted to show this with some of the composition and colors. It’s very important to me that Varian’s second reaction to Ulla is something like fear.

Also, my headcanon is that Ulla is the library, and the library is Ulla. She’s become one with it in a way. Therefore she can manipulate and control the library as a whole. This is kind of how she ends up creating hallucinations (like. Like the part where Hugo Yong and Nuru show up. My thought process for this was rough.) to break him down, ultimately leading to being able to possess him.

I wasn’t really sure what Ulla was trying to accomplish for a while in this animatic but I ended up with she wants to leave the Library. She was hoping to achieve this by taking on another body because her own body is tied to the Library. I’ve been thinking abt this for a little bit and how it would even make sense, so I dunno I might think of something else in the future that would make more sense.

But YEAH!!!!!!! This animatic took a long time to finish and I felt like forgetting about it MANY times but I’m very glad it’s done! I want to start working on some other animatics that I have in mind so I might start getting more stuff out. Thank you for reading hehe I super appreciate it mwah mwah besitos besitos
