I reeeeaaaally liked this, so I decided to give it multiple parts. This is part one, but more is to come!
Going on a mission without Percy had always made Annabeth uncomfortable, but, after the summer they’d had, now it felt downright impossible.
“Why can’t you get Hazel to go with you?” She asked, head in hands at the table in the Big House.
“Because,” Piper explained, “she’s on holiday with Frank to Canada.”
“Reyna?”
“She wants no more quests ever.”
“Annabeth, I understand if you don’t want to do this.” Chiron said from his seat as the top of the table.
Annabeth felt the guilt build in her stomach. She couldn’t say no, especially if they couldn’t find anyone else. And she would be with Piper, after all. If she had to be away from Percy, she’d certainly choose that girl to watch her back.
“I’ll think about it.” She relented. Piper seemed to visibly relax from across the table.
“Okay good. I’ll brief you now, so you can make your decision.”
***
“So, what did they want?” Percy asked as Annabeth walked out into the sunlight.
“They have a quest for me.” She said.
“Well I’m coming with you.” Percy replied, as if it were obvious.
“I’m sorry.” Annabeth said, sitting down on the grass outside the Big House. “It’s one of those girl-only quests.”
“What, is it an Amazon thing? Or an Artemis thing?”
“It’s… kinda like that.” Annabeth said. Oh if only you knew.
Percy seemed unhappy with the idea, but said nothing. He slumped down on the ground next to her. In the distance, Apollo and Ares campers threw water balloons at each other. Except, they had been laced with greek fire and nails so they were more like water bombs. The screams of terror gave Annabeth a wave of nostalgia.
Her life with Percy in New Rome was peaceful, and gods know that was what she needed, but sometimes she missed the hectic feeling of Camp Half Blood. With a start, she realised that one of the campers that she’d previously thought was an Apollo kid, was actually none other than Nico di Angelo. He soaking wet, and grinning wider than she’d ever seen.
Percy seemed to notice him too, as he nudged Annabeth in the side. They looked at each other, and laughed. It was such a relief to see this fourteen year old kid doing normal fourteen year old kid stuff. (Normal fourteen year old kids threw fire bombs at each other, right?)
Annabeth lay for a moment, thinking. After a while she said “I think I’m gonna do it. From what I can tell, it’s pretty important.”
“I think you should.” Percy said. “You know, get your confidence back. A minor quest. It’ll be good.”
Annabeth laughed, but she knew that Percy would absolutely refuse if he knew what it actually entailed.
“Yeah. Apparently it’s not dangerous, but it should be tricky.”
“Where are you going?”
Annabeth had a mental debate about how much she should tell him. Of course, if he knew the whole story he’d refuse, but a little bit of the story should be okay. Right?
“We’re going to get an amulet from Sappho.”
“Never heard of him.” Percy said. “Sounds like massive nerd.”
Annabeth just laughed, relieved that he hadn’t done his reading.
***
Who knew that Sappho actually lived on an island in California? Annabeth stared at the bright blue sea and couldn’t help but think of how much Percy would love it there. And then she felt guilty about what her mission was.
“So, you remember our aliases?” Piper asked once again, to make sure.
“Yep. We keep our real names, but I’m from a private school on the west coast and you’ve lived on the reservation your whole life. We met at summer camp.”
“Okay good.” Piper breathed. “The boat should be here any second.”
They stood on the beach, and Annabeth felt the warm sand under her feet. It was an odd feeling, after Tartarus. Annabeth didn’t think she’d ever fully get that out of her system.
Piper was staring out to sea, her brown eyes deep in thought. Eventually a small rowboat came into sight. It was being rowed by a teenage girl (or what looked like a teenage girl. Annabeth had learned not to prejudge.) The boat reached the beach, and the girl stood up.
“You guys looking for a ride to the island?” She asked. She was wearing modern clothes, apart from a circlet of golden leaves around her wrist.
“Uh, yeah.” Piper said. “Can you give us one?”
“That’s what I’m here for.” The girl laughed, gesturing that they should get into the boat. Annabeth’s heart was beating in her ears. What if they found her out as a fraud?
The girl slowly pushed the boat into the water and jumped in alongside Piper and Annabeth.
“So.” She asked, beginning to row. “How long have you two been dating?”

percy and annabeth's first day of freshman year of college. percy bloodbending. piper and annabeth have to pretend to be girlfriends for who knows what reason. percy finally coming home to his mom and paul after all these months. huge sleepover at the jackson place. nico and will going on a minor quest. frank staying in percy's dorm overnight for whatever reason. hazel and percy trying to make breakfast for frank at his grandma's house in son. solangelo interaction at some point before boo. go.
OKAY i’m gonna assume these are all separate fics (although maybe putting these all into one big fic would be entertaining… hmmm)
perhaps these will all be separate fics but in the same college!verse
we’ll just see how it goes
so i’m gonna do the first one under the read more, but all of the following ones will be tagged with your url so you can find them
(also thanks omg there’s so many here i’m really looking forward to writing)
Will is leaving the camp after summer and him and nico have to say goodbye for a year (although will promises to visit and stuff)
THIS ONE IS SHORT I'M SORRY BUT IT WAS TOO PAINFUL
This was the day.
Nico had been dreading this all summer, but it had always seemed ages away and now, all of a sudden, it was here.
“Do you have to go?” He’d asked, but, of course, Will hadn’t budged. He was determined to go to school, and not get kicked out this time.
As they stood on top of the hill, the bus blared its horn angrily.
“I have to go.” Will said, his bag slung over one shoulder.
“I know.” Nico stared at his feet.
“I’ll write.”
“Yeah, whatever.”
“And iris-message if you want to see my stupid face.”
Nico could tell that Will was trying to get a laugh out of him, but it wouldn’t happen. Will leaving sucked.
“I’ll be back for Christmas.”
Nico said nothing.
“Well… I’m going then. Bye.” Will said flatly, and walked down the hill. Nico watched him go, the evening sun making his hair more golden than ever.
Months without Will. He couldn’t even handle it when Will had to go to New Rome for a few days to heal some weird elephant-related injury. How was he gonna survive a year?
He had suggested shadow-travelling to visit Will in New Jersey, but that had been met with a categorical no.
“No way, swear you won’t do any underworld stuff when I’m away?” Will had pleaded on their last night together.
“I swear.” Nico said, staring up at the stars from the roof of the Apollo cabin where, beneath them, a wild party was raging.
But now, as Nico stood alone on the hilltop, he was met with just one thought.
If it has to end, it can’t end this way.
“Will!” He yelled, and he saw the boy turn around.
Nico did something very stupid, He passed the protective line, and ran down the hill. He barrelled into Will, and hugged him as tight as he could.
He felt tears prick his eyes.
“I want to see your stupid face every single day, promise?” He said.
Will hugged him back.
“I promise you idiot.”
“WILL WE SERIOUSLY HAVE TO GO!” Came the yell from the bus.
“I better go, I don’t want to get Cecil mad at me.”
Nico let go of Will, trying to sniff back tears.
“See you, nerd-face.” Will said, and walked into the bus.
“Later, dork.” Nico said, as he watched the bus drive away.

“Come on, Percy, it’s gonna be fine!”
“School has never, ever, been fine for me.”
“Yeah, but this time it’s a school specifically for demigods. I’m sure you won’t blow anything up this time.”
After a long amount of persuading, Annabeth eventually managed to get Percy out of bed and in a half-decent state of dress.
“It’s your first day of college, you are not gonna turn up in that ratty orange shirt!” She’d chided him.
It was weird, a few months ago going to college in New Rome had seemed like the smartest idea ever, and Percy had been so so excited, but now that it was here it was taking all of Annabeth’s power to get him to go.
Although she didn’t have charmspeak, Annabeth did pride herself on her ‘mom voice’.
She took his hand and dragged him out of the door. It was only a short walk to the university campus, and on their way they saw tons of demigods walking the same way. Percy lagged behind.
Annabeth sighed.
“Percy, everyone here is a demigod, including the teachers. Therefore you already don’t have to worry about keeping it a secret, plus they’ll be able to handle any explosions/floods that happen plus no monsters can get in. Okay?”
He just nodded.
As they walked up the university steps, Annabeth stared in wonder. She was about to compliment the use of ancient roman architecture, then she realised that she was literally in an ancient roman university. And her inner (maybe slightly outer) architecture nerd yelped in excitement.
“Let’s go!” She said, running into the doors, not even checking if Percy was following her. The inner hall was just as grand, with oaken furnishings and huge staircases.
“Hi, welcome to NRU, I’m Quinn, a senior student here. Here’s your map of the campus, and to your right you can join the line to get your class schedule and your room assignment.” The guy looked like Apollo if Apollo had dark hair and had spent four years in a frat.
Annabeth turned around. Percy was walking in slowly.
“Hi, welcome to NR-“ Quinn was cut off as Percy grabbed the paper out of his hand and stomped off.
“He’s… uh” Annabeth smiled. “Just nervous.”
She followed him to the line.
“This was a bad idea.” Percy’s face was creased with worry.
“It’s okay.” She reassured him.
“I don’t like small spaces.”
“I know.” Annabeth took his hand. “Do your breathing. After this we can go to the park and look over our schedules, okay?”
He nodded, and seemed to feel better.
The past few months hadn’t been easy. After everything that had happened, none of the half-bloods were the same. Especially Percy, after Tartarus. Even Annabeth had to admit that she was a lot more likely to jump at small noises, and going swimming? Forget it.
The line moved quickly, and Annabeth found herself face to face with an overly-smiley girl.
“Hello, welcome to NRU, what’s your name?”
“Annabeth Chase.” She said.
The girl looked down at her desk, and begin thumbing through files.
“C… Chase. Here you go.” She handed over a heavy folder. “Have fun on your first day!”
“Thanks.” Annabeth walked away, but stood by to watch Percy. His shoulders were hunched over, but he managed to get through the interaction without anything terrible happening, which was a positive.
He walked over.
“Can we please get out of here?”
***
They sat on the grass in the college courtyard. Annabeth lay down, her head resting on Percy’s lap. Percy was leaning against a tree.
“Oooookaaaay… what about swim team?” She suggested, squinting at the list of clubs and societies.
“I’m trying to have a normal year, not go all water-tribe on everyone.”
“Hmmm… there’s something called a Harry Potter Alliance?”
“Are you kidding? I’m not a nerd.”
“Percy you’re the biggest nerd I know.”
They were silent for a moment.
“… Anything else?”
“There’s a soccer team. I think that says soccer team.”
“Let me see.” Percy took the binder out of her hands and held it up.
“Yeah… I think so… at least everyone else here is dyslexic so they print words bigger.”
“True.” Annabeth said. “Now gimme back my binder, I want to see my class schedule.”
Percy held the binder up in the air, so Annabeth couldn’t reach it.
“If you weren’t so comfy and I could sit up, you would be so dead right now.” She laughed.
“You’re adorable when you’re angry.” He said, setting down the folder and stroking her hair. She closed her eyes and just lay there for a minute, feeling his reassuring touch and the sun on her face. This was it.
No more monsters, no more quests, no more nightmares or fighting. Just Percy and her.
