Tizer got an infection in his toe and has been on the cone so we’ve been unable to do much.

The cats are catting...

The beardies are in shed and it’s been super stressful for them, so it’s been stressful for us in return.

Vets bill and work are hard.

Today, after all my other chores are done it’s walk time.

Tizer’s exercise routine has been a tricky one to get down.

While all my dogs growing up would only require one long walk a day and a shorter walk in the evening. Tizer doesn’t seem to work like that at all.

Despite his size, you’ll be surprised to find that due to the greyhound in him, his stamina isn’t overly fantastic. However, the bulldog in him, makes him require about and hour or two of exercise, the keep him mentally and physically satisfied.

So we learned little and often is the key. Tizer gets 3-5 walks a day depending on mine and my partner’s work schedule, ranging from 15 minutes to half an hour, in several directions to let him smell and interact with the world, and depending on where the sheep are, some off lead run time.

After months of saving, we did it, SEPARATE!!! These girls are middle aged and need to live seperate especially with such different needs! Co-habbing in these reptiles shouldn't be a thing. I am still waiting on reflectors and guards to arrive.

Baby sitting a beardie for the summer, just got her today. Little concerned; she has no fat storage on her tail, and I can feel her ribs on her back. She also looks like she has some MBD because of her underbite, hopefully I can help that. Also looking a little dehydrated.

Can anyone else point out anything I can to do help her? Thanks!

If she was yours I’d probably ask how old the UV is, if it goes along ¾ of the viv and how often does she get calcium?

I’d say just care for her like she was your own. Make sure she has fresh veg every day, rocket, spring greens etc and feed live 2 or 3 times a week if she’s an adult. Silkworms, dubia roaches and hoppers are all good nutritionally. You could give her a bath and see if she’ll drink, or pop a small water bowl in with her as she may drink. You could also spray her greens. Make sure she gets her calcium powder. It’s hard to say without taking her to the vets as she may need a fecal test.

DO NOT GIVE THEM MEAL WORMS. My partner had dragons and he didn’t know you have to cut the heads off of them fuckers. The dragon swallowed one whole and it literally ate it’s way out of the poor things stomach.

I am very, very sorry about your partners dragon. And I really don’t intend for this to be rude or antagonistic.

Having to cut the head off of mealworms or superworms is a myth. A healthy animal of an appropriate size (and an animal whose diet includes insects) can safely eat and digest a live mealworm or superworm.

What more than likely happened, unfortunately, was some health problem. Unintentional neglect is common for owners of bearded dragons and often times illness will take months or years before it finally causes the animals death.

If a bearded dragon is too cold it causes a plethora of health problems. The two most prevalent are inability to produce vitamin D3 (thus resulting in low calcium levels) and inability to digest food. The bearded dragon may have been underheated. Mealworms are harder to digest because of their chitinous exoskeleton, and if too many are fed in a sitting/continuously the animal may develop an intestinal blockage.

Not knowing anything else about the bearded dragon in question I cannot say for sure what happened other than in no way could a mealworm eat through the stomach or intestines to cause death.

Mealworms are not a good source of food anyway, virtually no nutritional value. Dubia roaches are the best but unless you are looking at an online supplier then, I’d go for hoppers. 

Next make sure that all bugs you feed are gut loaded before hand.

Id also personally take her off the loose substrate, it isn’t too good for her.

Also check her UVB tube, I personally recommend the ReptiSun 10.0 UVB tube.
