Assad Zaman for the Reddit AMA
ASSAD ZAMAN & SAM REID at 'The Vampire Lestat' premiere
The twirl is lethal.
Nothing is perfect. But it is nearly perfect when Armand is with his two children. I say this with love, I genuinely need a suicide arc for Armand ❤️

"But, but they don’t have the money to promo Assad!"
Well, clearly AMC forgot they’re supposed to be broke with all the promos TVL is getting and will continue to get. At this point, I’d hope those worrying about AMC can finally rest easy knowing their beloved company hasn’t gone bankrupt just yet 👏👏👏
It's weird and condescending when people call Assad a gaslighter or a liar when he speaks of Armand and his portrayal of him candidly, just because it doesn't fit what they want for their ship. It's like they don't actually listen to him. It's embarrassing and ugly. Thank you for your post
I don't think most of them genuinely mean any harm when they claim Assad is intentionally lying or withholding information in that interview. I just think that sometimes, when we ship a couple it’s easy to hear what we want to hear rather than what the canon actually says.
But yeah, it has been a bit frustrating since that interview dropped, because I keep seeing posts pop up trying to reassure the fandom by basically telling people not to believe what Assad says. Actors change their minds about their characters all the time, but I haven't seen Assad change his mind in this case yet.
I don't think Assad was lying or trying to avoid spoilers regarding why Armand turned Daniel. Rather, his explanation aligns perfectly with the entirety of Season 2 and his past interviews.
Armand always needs someone to cling to, and Louis was that person for 77 years. In an interview with Autumn Brown, when asked why a 500 year old vampire failed to notice what Daniel was up to, Assad basically said that Armand’s love for Louis blinded him, and he was desperately trying to hold everything together.
It’s been nearly two years, and Assad’s stance remains consistent. Isn't that famous quote he said in comic con "It’s tattered, it’s broken, but it’s mine" just another version of "I’m gonna break you" in this interview? Armand’s most logical reaction after losing Louis was pure rage and despair, and with Daniel right there, he became the perfect target to lash out at. In his madness of losing Louis, he broke Daniel. But immediately after that, he mentioned that “it's a thin line between love and hate”. I believe DM happened in the past because it made much more sense for this relationship, so this outburst of anger definitely carried some underlying love, thats his only fledgling, of course he loves Daniel. It’s canon that Armand can love multiple people simultaneously. I mean, he treated Lestat like shit sometimes but he still loves him anyway. So I see no contradiction between Armand being furious with Daniel during the turning and still loving him at the same time.
Also, in the book, Daniel’s turning is a much gentler culmination of their decade long dynamic and yet, they still separated afterward.
I think by altering this scenario and making Armand lose control, crashing out in outrage, devastation, and heartbreak right before turning Daniel, the show raises the stakes for this relationship. It renders their dynamic far more dangerous and toxic. This violent outburst provides a much more explicit explanation for their immediate estrangement. This is exactly how the show handled Loumand’s breakup compared to the books too, the core outcome remains the same, but the details were changed and heightened to satisfy the dramatic demands of a television format.
And since we already know they will cross paths again in Season 3, the setup makes their eventual meeting more interesting than in the books. It will have to confront all that unresolved violence, love, and trauma. That makes their dynamic in Season 3 potentially richer and more unpredictable than what the book gave us.
On a side note, an actor's word isn’t gospel, and we don't have to agree 100% with their interpretation. It's just a bit strange how people call Assad Armand's number one understander when he shows interest in Devil's Minion, but then some freak out and start implying he’s lying for some reason the moment he gives an opinion that doesn't fit their narrative 🤦♀️

*Hello, my name is Hanaa* 💔
I’m a 38-year-old mother living in northern Gaza with my husband and our 8 children 👩👧👦. Before the war, we had a peaceful life — full of love, family, and hope 🌸. But everything was taken from us in an instant 💣. Our home was destroyed, and now we are displaced, living in the open without food, shelter, or medicine ❄️🍞💊.
I had a fundraiser to help us survive, but sadly, it stopped working and I can no longer access it 😞. I’ve now launched a *new campaign* in hopes of finding kind people who can support us 🙏. Even though a ceasefire has begun, *nothing has changed* for families like mine — we are still struggling every day just to stay alive 💔.
*Please, if you can donate or share*, it would mean the world to us. Your support could help us find shelter and keep my children safe and warm tonight 🛌💖.
