a girl talk to me
This is the best post I ever seen on tumblr.
Today my mom told me.. “a person who values you, wouldn’t ever put themselves in a position to lose you.” and that really hit deep.
Reading about abusive men and the way they think. Very unsettling and an incredible book so far. Here are my very professional notes.
what book is this?
This is from “Why Does He DO That” by Lundy Bancroft.
I’m so glad I’m seeing more and more Lundy Bancroft quotes on my dash because this book CHANGES THE LIVES OF ABUSE VICTIMS. The programs run for rehabilitating abusive men through the courts? Bancroft DESIGNED THEM. His programs are replicated ALL OVER THE WORLD. He literally wrote THE book on abuser rehabilitation.
Here’s a link to a pdf copy. If you haven’t read this book yet, read this book.
Can we talk about how it seems like the entirety of the book is online on PDF, this making it accessible to anyone with an internet connection?
That is how we stop abuse.
We enable everyone to know what it looks like, so that when it happens, they can shut it down.
Arm yrself with knowledge!
Changed my life, would reccomend.
Reblogging for the PDF link.

Always reblogging because this isn’t just a partner abuse thing, this is a common abuse tactic PERIOD: Parents, siblings, bosses, general assholes, etc…

new link (the old one is broken)
Pretty sure I’ve reblogged this like eight times, don’t care.

Heads up guys. It moved again. https://www.pdf-archive.com/2015/10/21/why-does-he-do-that/ But if it breaks just use the sites custom search. :3 That’s how I found it.

therapist: can you…. give me an example?
me, someone who has memory problems:
connecting with a fictional character like
psa. if we’re mutuals, we’re automatically friends. u don’t need to say things like “sorry to bother” or “sorry im annoying” bc ur not. ur my friend. u can come to me for anything. u need help? im here. wanna chat? hmu. just wanna gush abt your muse? go for it. we’re friends. ily.
me too buddy
buzzfeed’s “which bojack horseman character are you” quiz should have a bunch of fun and quirky questions but only one result which is “you’re a lonely and directionless real life human trying to project fictional characters’ personalities onto yourself because you have no strong concept of your own identity”
I HAVE WAITED ALL YEAR TO POST THIS
I love this

omg there are so many crusty old scholars out there viciously arguing that Titus Andronicus couldn’t possibly be a real Shakespeare play because it’s so crude and bloody. “How could the man who wrote Hamlet also be the author of this horror show!” well I have news for you bud, Shakespeare was a crowd-pleaser and and an entertainer, and those crowds of illiterate Elizabethan commoners loved a good Senecan-style bloodbath just as much as they loved to engage in deep, philosophical questions about life, death and morality. You can have it both ways, you know.
"I want to sing this song like I’m dying"
To the (mostly white and liberal) people who find themselves going to protests for the first time:
1. Marches and rallies aren’t Coachella. They can be fun and fulfilling, but they’re more than that. You’re there to show solidarity and to build a culture of resistance, not to boost your social status or get more likes on Instagram.
2. Don’t take pictures/videos of others without their consent. I don’t care how cool their sign is. Unless you ask first, NEVER take a picture/video and def NEVER post that to social media without consent.
3. In the same vein: don’t be a snitch. If you see someone spray painting or flipping off cops or smashing racist imagery, etc, don’t take video/pictures. Don’t rat out your comrades, especially if they’re doing something illegal and can get arrested or fired.
4. At the march in LA on Saturday, a bunch of white Hillary supporters started shaking hands with the riot police. Don’t do that. The cops are not our friends.
5. Center the voices of members of oppressed groups. If there’s an open mic, let others speak. If you’re privileged, you’re there to listen and learn. Be humble.
6. If something that a member of an oppressed group says makes you uncomfortable, DEAL WITH IT. Don’t try to silence them. If poc start chanting “Fuck the police”, don’t try to shush them or drown them out.
7. These anti Trump marches are not pro Hillary, or pro Bernie, or pro Jill Stein marches. You’re taking part in direct action, not electoral politics.
If anyone has anything else to add to this list, feel free to do so.
For everyone planning to kill themselves in the event of a Trump victory:
Don’t.
We need you. The world needs you. We’ve been through this before, in one way or another, and we have prevailed. Who benefits from your death? Only those who want you silenced.
There will be blue skies ahead. There will be triumphs. This is not the end of the world.
Do not go gentle - we are here today because of the stubborn refusal of our predecessors to go away. There are oases even in the darkest of times. You are not alone, and you have not been abandoned. There *will* be blue skies ahead, and you will live to see them.
I'm actually trying to quit smoking now purely so I can continue to live out of spite.
THERE IS A PETITION TO STOP THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE FROM VOTING FOR TRUMP
For those of you who don’t know, the Electoral College has the final say in December. It’s only happened once or twice, but sometimes they vote against a candidate who’s already “won”. Candidates can win the popular election and still lose the electoral college’s election. THIS IS OUR LAST SLIVER OF A CHANCE TO KEEP BUTT TRUMPET OUT OF OFFICE!
There’s been multitudes of posts going around, talking about fighting back, never giving up, doing what’s right.
ITS TIME TO WALK THE WALK:
