when bobby is giving the ER buckâs information he says âdown three minutes before starting compressionsâ because buck was hanging there for a bit before they could get him lowered to the gurney. then, they did CPR in the ambulance for the three minute drive to the hospital, and his heart only started again when eddie took over CPR on the way from the ambulance into the ER.
according to my math, thatâs somewhere between six and seven minutes if you give a little wiggle room. logically, if eddie is only going to count either the time while buck was hanging from the ladder or the time he spent in the ambulance, it would be the time he spent without any medical intervention.
which means that at some point immediately after getting thrown off the ladder, eddie started counting the seconds. while he ran up after buck without a tether, he was counting. while he pulled on buckâs line, knowing it was useless, he was counting. as he lowered buck down to the gurney, he kept counting.
and when chimney started compressions, eddie stopped counting. one hundred and ninety seven seconds. he didnât know buck was dead during that time, all he knew was that buck was unresponsive. just how in love do you have to be to start and maintain a timer in your head while you use every ounce of your strength to try and bring your best friend back to you?

earlier I was reading the comments section of a reddit post that screenshotted this woman's post in a religious community where she basically says she's pro life but now conflicted because she could die from having another baby (also her husband is blatantly abusive and uses her as a baby machine, but she talks about him like it's normal). so I opened the comments (of the post with the screenshot, not her original post) and there's a lot of people joking around and saying she should die basically because she's stupid for being against abortion and she should consider this "god's punishment". now judging by how this woman describes her role in her marriage she's quite clearly abused and currently willing to possibly sacrifice her LIFE for her husband. and as someone whose dad also treats women like this and uses religion as an excuse I had sympathy for her despite her "pro life" stance (I mean it's not like she's a politician passing anti abortion laws lol). I tried to comprehend the comments joking about this post but I couldn't. I can't find the situation funny. and it makes me realize some people's political convictions are very surface level. it's just about fun clapbacks on social media. no one is treated as a real person.

It's why I block people who tag my posts that say queer with q slur. Queer is a separation from Normal, and Normal is determined by the ruling class. I don't align with anyone who wants that shit.
I honestly think tagging as "q slur" is, conscious or not, just a performance.
If someone felt uncomfortable with it, they'd already have the content filtered. So the tag isn't for them.
In fact, they probably wouldn't many people who put the word on their dash regularly enough to tag it. So again, not for them.
So who is the tag for? It's for the people who aren't affected by the word to feel like they are doing good, and to think that the people they follow are doing good.
All it does, particularly when it's done to someone who is using the word as an identifier and not speaking about being assaulted with language, is let us know that every time you see our identity, you feel a stab of discomfort towards our identity at least big enough to performatively tag it as a potential offense to someone.
Our identities are treated as a potential offense and with discomfort. And we're supposed to be fine with it. I've never had anyone tag anything where I use dyke with D slur, either.
