We're creating fanworks celebrating all variations of Disneyâs Beauty and the Beast! Save the date and start drafting your creations!
Anyone can join, and all types of fandom works are welcome: fanfic, fanart, podfic, gifsets, edits, mood boards, memes, etc. Each work must contain at least one Disney BatB character (crossovers, OCs, and reader-inserts are allowed too!), be newly created for the event, and not use AI. This year, our theme is âšMagicâš and the prompts work a little differently. Every day has 1 magical phrase that you can use verbatim in a fic or comic, as well as 1 magical item and 3 magical concepts that you can use to inspire any sort of fanwork.

Even though the theme for the prompts is magic, your works do NOT have to include magic. For instance, you can take the âspellâ prompt and write a story about Belle winning a spelling bee. Or you can take the âSay the magic wordâ prompt and draw a comic of Beast being grumpy about having to say please. The prompts are meant to expand your ideas to new things you havenât tackled before, not limit them to strict topics. That being said, you can of course also create works that are about the literal things in the prompts. Whatever inspires you! And if youâre stuck, there are plenty of free ideas at #inspiration.

canon is what happens in the text. e.g. merlin tries to poison morgana
a headcanon is a fact that you have personally made up as an elaboration of canon. it is your invention. e.g. i think morgana and gwen had a teenage lesbian situationship before the events of canon. or, i think modern morgana would love evanesence.
an interpretation is how one reads the existing text. it is not an invented fact nor is it a headcanon, it is a reading. e.g. i think merlin tries to poison morgana out of misplaced self-hatred. or, i think that one line was delivered with suppressed malice and shows a nuanced relationship.
fanon is the general fandomâs accepted headcanons and interpretations that elaborate or recontextualize canon. e.g. merlin is a badass waif and morgana is a bitch.
these are all different words with different meanings.
sad reality of the fanfic-to-published work economy is that the weirdest people are willing to do it. that's why there's now hundreds of shitty no plot cishet hate-to-love enemies-to-lovers books that are ex reylo fanfic. and it's not even good. that's because the people who wrote book-quality steve/bucky and kirk/spock fic are too normal to think to themselves "i should get this porn published". they're too busy working in local government offices
#imo the writers who write insanely good fanfic canât file the serial numbers off because they grasped the canon so thoroughly #the shitty stuff is publishable because once you change the names you canât recognize these people
