Episode: Shinra - Rufus Fan Trailer
So I made a thing...
Hi All! I'm alive despite being hella quiet while life steamrolls me. This doesn't have Rufus, but it does have Cloud and Aerith!
Was tempted to do the whole list, however~
2, 4, 12, 13, 24, 26, 27, 29
2. What order did you play (or watch) FF7 + Compilation games in?
WELL. Watch and play are two different answers. The first bit of FF7 I ever saw was Advent Children back in 2009. I was so confused lol. I then first watched a playthrough of FF7 back in college (a year or two after seeing AC), followed by a playthrough of Crisis Core. I was obsessed with Zack back then!
When I finally had my hands on a PS4, I played Remake, followed by OG FF7, then Remake again, then got into rp and read On The Way To A Smile and The Kids Are Alright, watched a Before Crisis playthrough online, followed by a Dirge of Cerberus cutscene compilation, and then finally watched Advent Children again. It made way more sense the second time lol. Then I played Intermission and Rebirth. I'm still reading Two Pasts and will pick up the book they just announced, too. I've been playing Ever Crisis as well for the last two years.
4. Who is your favourite party member to actually play as?
YUFFIE. I hate her so much as a character but in Intermission/Rebirth her moveset rules.
12. A background or minor character you love.
Oh no, who even counts as minor?? Cause if it's anyone not in the main party, I feel the answer is obvious LOL. But if we're talking people with almost not screen time... I'd say Andrea. What an excellent inclusion in the franchise. He's great.
13. A compilation character you wish you could see in the main game.
EVAN. We've got Leslie, we've got Kyrie, GIVE ME EVAN. Just a hint! Omg, or VELD. THAT would be incredible. We know for a fact he's a part of the Midgar evacuation during Meteor. All they gotta do is animate it, c'mon.
24. A cutscene you’ve watched so many times you’ve lost count.
LMAO EVERY SCENE WITH RUFUS.
26. Fuck, Marry, Kill: any three Shinra execs.
I only fuck Hojo in the go die sense, so we're killing him. He is literally the reason EVERYONE is fucked up. Fuck Rufus, mmm. And Marry Reeve. You know he'd do his best.
27. What's your dream DLC after part 3 comes out?
TURKS TURKS TURKS. GIVE ME EPISODE SHINRA OR KIDS ARE ALRIGHT AS A GAME I'D DIE
29. A headcanon you wish would become canon
Honestly, SE already delivered this to be on a gold platter in Rebirth already. I was yelling at my screen. When Glenn called Rufus brattish and lonely and he said, "I don't deny it. Why would I? It's brought me all this?" Rufus lonely and stubbornly owning it CONFIRMED. Gosh that was just -chef's kiss- exactly how I see him. Like, just keep feeding me that human side of Rufus.
I guess if there's anything I'd like to see that could easily be true but is far from confirmed... it's that Rufus has a hand in helping that key get dropped in the gas chamber that lets Tifa escape. Though the way they're spinning the storyline with Glenn... they seem to be taking a more cutthroat approach to Rufus, which I don't super like. At least as EC painted the whole scenario with Glenn, it doesn't make a lot of sense. I'm hoping part 3 does a better job with it.

More than anything, Reno wished to continue poking at his supervisor, boss, and HE who was holder of his entire fate. Rufus ShinRa adopted the throne at a young age after his father's murder, and while he was capable, the silver spoon handed down from one mouth to the other, he really was still young. If Reno could get away with calling his President naïve in his head, he certainly would. Did Rufus even know what the remaining gunners were up to? Did he know anything about locker room and storage closet hookups? If Reno was a betting man, he'd put a few gil on Rufus not mixing work with pleasure and liking things to be official. All his sexual partners likely had to sign contracts that is, of course, if the bossman even had sex. A man was a man, but he was the golden child who carried the greatest industry on his young shoulders. Fuck am I thinking about? A scowl formed across his lips, and he stood even closer to Rufus until the tips of their noses were nearly touching.
❛ I know you're capable of making a decent shot, but you're my responsibility, boss. One stray bullet. One ambush, and that's that. ❜
There was an equal if not greater amount of danger leaving Rufus alone, but an escort mission really was not ideal. Reno couldn't be his planned reckless self if Rufus was trailing behind. He could leave Rufus at the dinner service; he was smart enough to avoid anything obvious and a large crowd would prevent a direct attack. Rufus was, of course, already prepping to stay glued to Reno's side. The redhead refrained from breathing out with exasperation. He was arguing with the very person he was trying to protect; the very person who employed him. Reno did not like ShinRa Sr. but at least that antiquated man knew when to leave the hired help do the dirty jobs.
❛ Don't fire me if I have to push you out of harm's way. ❜
Grin was not returned, instead he stepped forth quickly to take the lead; while they were not very different height wise, Reno would still be able to protect his President. He walked painfully slowly down the corridor. One long hallway leading to the next. Cartons with supplies and doors marked staff only, otherwise there wasn't much to see. The murderer didn't get any blood on them, thus no trail was left. More than five minutes in their walk, and from around one corner came the voices of the employees jabbering about work. Reno stuck close to the wall and waited the boring two minutes until the men returned to work from the door which they came through. Walking down the corridor for another minute revealed nothing. There was a door leading to employee bathrooms, a door for the kitchen, one for the ballroom, and one for the emergency exit - alarmed. Reno pivoted on the heels of his dress shoes and looked at Rufus.
❛ What now, boss? Go back snooping or-- ❜
Someone must have found the body because the next instance muffled radio calls came from the door leading to the kitchen, and Reno could hear several fast working footsteps. He holstered his own weapon before hastily dragging Rufus by the lapels of his dress jacket through the door leading to the ballroom. It was an exquisite room though not currently set for dancing. A cocktail service was being held; couples were gathered around tall tables and paid the two new faces no mind. Reno gave Rufus a sideways glance.
Rufus distantly heard what Reno was saying. The bulk of his focus was on the small but intimate sensations that were all but foreign to him. The weight and warmth of another's body so close to his. The soft brush of breath on his lips. The unique and pleasant smell that were Reno. And since when did he know what Reno smelled like?
He took a deep breath, unintentionally getting more of his scent, but he pushed the unwanted flurry of feeling aside and sharpened his focus on the issue at hand. "My luck has held so far," he stated with the undue confidence that only the heir of Shinra could manage. Undue, but not wholly unearned. He eyed Reno inscrutably.
"Why would I fire you for doing your job?"
Is that what his father would have done? He wouldn't but the idiocy past him. With a quiet sigh, he followed after Reno, keeping a sharp eye for movement behind them and trusting Reno to give him warning for anything ahead. The corridor seemed unfortunately normal, however, with no obvious incriminating evidence left further down. That blood on the other end wasn't going to go unnoticed for long, however. Unless they had some very discrete in janitorial, they probably had 20 minutes, at people before screaming and chaos broke out at the news of a murder aboard. Which—now that he was thinking about it—
Reno yanked him off balance before he could finish his thought, let alone conceal his own weapon. He regained his footing as they went through the door, and followed the momentum into a controlled halt right before Reno, trying to play it off as passion. He smiled softly at him, his eyes glaring as he slipped his pistol into an inner pocket of his jacket.
He leaned forward, lips brushing over the shell of his ear. "Give me a warning next time," he growled. "Before someone sees my weapon and I become the prime suspect in this investigation." He pulled back and stroked Reno's face affectionately as someone walked past them. As soon as they were out of earshot, he continued, "We should probably retire and freshen up a little, don't you think?"
Otherwise known as make sure all the blood was off their shoes and securely hide their weapons just in case any searches were demanded. There was probably only a limited amount of time before there was some kind of confinement to quarters issued, which meant they were running out of time to gather information. "Besides." He continued at a more normal volume, taking Reno's hand and kissing the back of it. "I'd like a little private time, wouldn't you?" He gave Reno his most alluring smile. The one he once used to charm the masses. He wouldn't hate it if it worked on Reno a little, even if he was just playing a part.
"I regret to inform you that I'm in charge." -From u know who >:)
Heat rushed through Rufus.
He was familiar with anger. There was rarely a time he wasn't angry these days. The simmer of it right under his skin was almost companionable.
What was unexpected was the way the anger moved through him and settled in his groin. He looked down at himself, appalled and bewildered. Why on Gaia should such a provocation affect him in this way? And from someone he considered more menace than anything, at the present.
Rufus shifted, trying to ignore the tent. Even if he couldn't see him, it somehow felt like capitulating if he so much as touched his waistband. He stared at the bookshelf—he was fairly certain he could recite the title of every book in order, he'd looked at the damn thing so many times—and tried to compose himself.
When the warmth had adequately faded, he picked up his phone once more.
Contrary to present circumstances and your deluded belief, I am, in fact, still your boss, Reno.
Rufus hit send and dropped his phone onto the couch, head tilted back to the industrial smoothness of the ceiling. The heat pulsed again.
Maybe he'd take a shower.
"I regret to inform you that I am in charge"
This one's still a sketch, but made for the Renoru enjoyers after a request some months ago. Time to set it free!
Whatever "understanding" Rufus has with Tseng, Reno doesn't care; when Tseng is off-duty, it's his show.
After all, if anything happened to the Shinra president, Tseng would hand him his ass on a silver platter...
I haven’t played Before crisis, is this accurate?

RUFUS/RENO MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM <33333333333333
You know, it kind of makes me wonder; every time I search up some Rufus lovin’, why is he the bottom? I mean, to each his own, sure, but he is such a ruthless asshole in the game I am honestly incapable of picturing Rufus as a bottom in any pairing. Even in Advent Children, he’s like, in a wheelchair and crippled with Geostigma, and even then it’s still easy for me to picture him going “Reno, come here.” and then flipping his Turk around and fucking him right there in his seat.
