Alex of goherping is a scumbag
🤷♀️ Transphobia/violence warning
Just a reminder that Alex from Goherping actively called for violence against BLM and is transphobic? Genderphobic? Idk what to call it other than disgusting
s c r e a m s well he's off my YouTube watchlist, goddamn
just so everyone knows he also thinks vets are bullshit for snakes, lizards, etc. Which like, I'm a meat rabbit breeder -- my animals don't go to vets because the price trade-off is not worth it, I dispatch humanely at home if I can't treat, but I don't claim that vets know nothing and I know better so why bother taking them.
like clearly the disgusting transphobia is the Main Event here but it gave me a big side eye in his last video so.
This also gets me. He actively advises against getting your animals vet care, because he's arrogant and thinks he knows it all. Many of his videos show he does not have an extensive understanding of his animals. He knows very basic care, thats not enough to discourage vet care.
Plus if youre "rescuing" like he does, then that means you wont make money off of the animals if you take them to the vet 🤷♀️
Can we also talk about how his adoption prices are super inflated? You can get a healthy vetted animal for half the price of what he sells typically.
I remember this being blown away outta proportion but the actual lack of knowledge in regards to reptile care from people who think they know what they're talking about is ridiculous and something I need to clear up...
Reptiles are nothing like mammals, they are extremely sensitive to anesthetic (so much so that even light use is incredibly risky) and a scared reptile is going to do you and your vet WAY more damage than fluffy the bunny, and you can't muzzle your boa.... This all means that a trip to the vet is gonna result in the same way it's gonna go at home... You can't use anything for pain relief or anesthetic, and most keepers know wtf to do, more so than most vets. If I handed my vet a beardie with a respiratory infection he'd sweat... 😂
Having said that, if it's an emergency or if you have no experience or knowledge in how to treat a reptile, or aren't confident treating yourself, a vet visit is advisable, tho 9 times out of 10 they'll tell you what the dude on YouTube said to do at home, whilst charging a hefty consultation fee 🤷🏻♀️
As a vet tech, who has worked under a reptile vet, who has had her own reptiles go under anesthesia, who uses a reptile specialist vet who regularly anesthetizes reptiles, I would like to say you couldn’t be more fucking wrong if you tried.
WOW. Holy shit. Unsubbing, blocking, and the works. Jesus christ. I thought I could look past a few things because the guy was entertaining but this is just... a whole lot of fucking nope.
