2005•12•09 happy 20th anniversary!
there are’m only 23 types of people in the world
After the hell of the past two days, this reminded me of what America could and should be about. It’s a little pocket of hope when our administration is trying to extinguish diversity and community and basic human decency and replace them with fear and hate and division.
Here is a youtube compilation of all of the episodes so far if you want more :)
when i’m sad i like to think about little prehistoric toddlers tagging along with the adults who are foraging and getting really excited over a Cool Rock or Big Leaf and handing it to a parent to put in the baskets with the Actual Food and the parents having to carry around all their baby’s little Treasures the way modern parents end up with acorns and flowers in their pockets after a trip to the park
Older child: Grandmother why are you making such a small foraging bag? You can't fit much food in that.
Grandmother: It's for your little brother. He wants to bring home every rock so your mother can make it into a spear. He's too little to learn what good tool stone looks like, but he's not too little to learn how heavy rocks are!
(Distant clacking of granite hitting granite) "I make spear like MOMMY!"
i will do ANYTHING but work on my essay apparently
i swear people freak out about the tamest shit ever
"they identify as animals" thats nice, sharon
"no but they actually think they are animals" theres a war going on, sharon
"like they wear masks and run around in all fours and even bark at people" sharon the war
every time i remember that photo of the little inuk girl with her puppy i engage in inconsolable hysterics
this is it. this is the photo of all time

senior/elderly nonbinary people. I adore you and you make the world a better place. whether you've known for multiple decades or you just found out last year. thank you for just Being. so much love from me.
GAUGEHAHAH????
It's pride month so I'll allow myself to express one opinion on the internet :
There are no "exact color" of pride flags.
I see more and more sites and posts talking about the exact hex codes for the lesbian flag, or the right purple for the ace one, and how it should be more or less saturated and I just want to say: pride flags were meant to be sewn in your kitchen. To be spraypainted and to be recognised.
There are no "exact colors" of pride flags because you should do them with what you have ! Nobody should care if you use a crimson red instead of a cherry red or whatever ! Be free ! wave your colors ! The colors you have !

sorry but once you notice how often ppl use a southern accent as shorthand for being unintelligent you can never unsee it. classism is baked so deeply and why are you acting like anyone who talks the way my grandfather talks is stupid.
"you couldnt make seinfeld today" you couldve made seinfeld in 45 B.C.

in happier pride news i actually found this deeply heartwarming
that's solidarity baybeeee
Further context: Durham city council (Reform UK) cut funding and support for Pride. The Durham Miner's Association and other trade unions raised enough money for Durham Pride 2026 to go ahead - a direct call back to when Lesbian and Gays Support the Miners (LGSM) raised money for mining communities when Margaret Thatcher seized union funding during the miner strikes of 1984-85.
At the 1985 Labour party meet, the motion to support LGBT rights as a party was passed due to a block vote from mining unions.
Stephen Guy, the chair of the Durham Miners’ Association, said that when it became apparent Durham Pride was under threat, he took it upon himself to “encourage the trade union movement to step up and do the right thing, and stand shoulder to shoulder with the LGBT+ community […] They not only raised funds for us, but came to our communities, uplifted our spirits when they were down, and showed their solidarity.”
