Hey guys, I swear I am still around and still interested in writing. I know I have some replies due. I just wanted to say I’m sorry for being absent. My work life took a big twist, I’m working 50+ hour weeks and right now doing the job of five people until the end of the year. Needless to say that just kicks my ass. I am going to try to get myself caught back up over these next two days. And if we haven’t written yet and you follow me, YES I do want to write with you. Don’t be shy, say hello and we can plot up some fun.

Bo nodded. “I wouldn’t want germs to live on me. I always wash my hands so the germs go away. Can snakes have a bath?” Bo felt bad for them having to shed their skin to avoid germs. “Is it only snakes that have skin hat falls off like that or do other animals?”

“Well that’s good, having clean hands is very important.”  Sean smiled at the girl and turned to face her, leaning one elbow on the counter.  “They love laying about in a warm tub. It helps their tummies, and it helps them shed their skin.  Lizards also shed their skin, also salamanders and frogs.”

“Bring it on!” She grinned and nudged him. She had outsmarted the Danger Room before she really had any training so she wasn’t scared to try out any of the new simulations. Plus she had told him not to go easy on her, right? She leads the way into the Danger Room but lets him pick the simulation.

It was hard for Sean to keep a straight face, his grin growing as he walked over to the computer. Hopefully the things he and Hank worked on had been finished in time. Sure enough he found was he was looking for, and headed down to join Kitty.

And just like that, they were standing in the middle of a big city street. The entire city was hushed. It was eerie to see that there was not one sign of life.  Off in the distance they could hear a tapping sound, like hundreds of clawed feet moving across the concrete.

“I wouldn’t expect it any other way…” Nor would she want it any other way. Don’t learn anything when the person you’re sparring against pulls punches. She could tell he was up to something, problem was she had no idea what that something was. She smiles at him as she moves off the elevator first and leads the way down the hall to the danger room.

“You know I think some new simulations have been added recently.”  He changed his pace to stroll right up beside Kitty as they moved down the hallway. “We should try one, add a bit of a challenge to the whole thing.”

Bo loved to look at the pictures but she couldn’t say no to some help. “That would be great, my moms read with me a lot but when they are working or on missions I need someone else.” Bo stared her hand for a moment before picking at the skin covering it. “It’s skin? Skin is mean to stay on.” Bo was concerned slightly, so long as only snakes lost their skin and not her. “Why do they shed? No one else does.”

“Well snakes have different skin. Our skin grows as we do, but a snake’s skin doesn’t do that. So they shed it, that will help them grow. Plus it gets rid of any icky germs or parasites that might be on it.”  Sean settled to sit next to Bo, taking a few more pieces of popcorn.  “Pretty neat right?”

A hideous grin….daemonic almost. Like a cat ready to open a jaw lined with steak knife teeth, and sink it into the furred flesh of a struggling rabbit.

“ He took your child and raised her to be a devious harlot. You didn’t bother to care about anyone else but your precious, lost Maeve…..

A lousy excuse for a husband…..and a worthless excuse for a father…”

The smart thing to do would be to walk away. To not engage. But at this moment Sean was beyond reason. The anger was coming off him in waves. And it was the anger that fueled the blast Sean stupidly lobbed in Apocalypse’s direction.

Rachel nodded. “My tummy hurts.”

“Well come on, let’s get you some of the pink stuff and some ginger ale.”  Sean offered Rachel his hand so he could lead her to the kitchen.

With a victorious smile curling her lips Ororo snatched her purse with one hand while the other took hold of Sean before he could change his mind. “Why, Mr. Cassidy! I’m truly offended. When have you ever regretted time spent in my company?”  An obvious jest made to keep the mood light. Call her needlessly concerned or overprotective but she refused to ignore the feeling in her gut screaming he was in desperate need of a little fun, some fresh air and plenty of distance from the school. “And here I had a lovely evening planned.”

“Never, but there is a first time for everything.”  Sean said with his own joking tone. He was too fond of being in her company actually, but wasn’t something he was going to quickly admit.  “Well far be it for me to stand in the way of a lovely evening. I’m all yours, and I’ll just send up a quick prayer to the saints that I won’t regret it.”   Again he was purely joking.

“Gotcha,” she said with a grin. It was a rare treat to fight alongside someone for once, but now wasn’t the time. She surveyed the group; she’d taken down bigger. Probably badder too, but comparisons were painful.

She nodded at his request and waited to drop the shield. On three, she dropped the shield and then spun like a tornado-if a tornado stood in one place, that is. Feathers spun from her cape towards her foes on the right. It might have been a comical sight if the feathers weren’t razor sharp. Surprisingly, none flew off track.

As soon as the shield dropped, Sean took the final hit on two of the four. He knew he had enough to at least knock them out for hopefully enough time. When they were down, he staggered back away from the woman, and fought to stay on his feet.  A low raspy whistle followed a chuckle.  “Well now, that was impressive...”
