#10 – Piazza San Marco

The Piazza San Marco, or St. Mark’s Square, is one of the most famous tourist attractions of Venice and where Nancy can go to get messages from the police on an ATM. It was also where we got off our transfer boat to begin our gondola tour. I quite like the first picture I took, because if you zoom in and imagine the crowds aren’t there, it’s quite clearly the same place as the screenshot (which was completely unintentional!) Also note the weirdly squiggly canal-marking lines, which weren’t present IRL. The second photo was taken from the side of our ship and shows St. Mark’s Campanile (the tall clock tower), the Doge’s Palace, and other iconic buildings surrounding the square.

I've been there!! We went to Italy a couple years ago and spent quite a bit of time in Piazza San Marco, I have a picture of me and my dad sitting at a table outside at one of the restaurants eating fancy gelato!

Also at one point as we were walking through, I saw a man that I can only describe as the Pigeon King of Venice, I didn't see him feeding them so I don't know what the deal was exactly, but this man had tens of dozens of pigeons, possibly more, just following him around, they were surrounding him, some perching on his shoulders and head, and every time he moved, they moved with him, and all I could think was that he was everything I wanted to be in life
