UK FRAME RATES

The frame rate for the UK is 25fps and the US is 24fps. This is because we use PAL and the US use NTSC which means that the animations won’t be compatible in either countries. 25fps is better suited to HD and LCD displays. Anything less than 12fps the eye will start to differentiate each image and cause motion sickness. The higher the frame rate, the smoother the animation.

What pages are working?

Home Page

The Home Page is fully running, all of the menu bar links are navigating to the right pages and the social media links are working too. The images on the home page change every 5 seconds.

About Page

The About Page is fully running, although I may change the picture of myself. The information about me is short but tells the user some of what I hope to achieve in the future, and where I am currently studying. 

Portfolio Page

The Portfolio page is fully running, and has a link to my Behance profile. I am including the best work that I have done this year. The Portfolio page will also have a Showreel drop down menu, but this is hidden at the moment because it is under construction.

Gallery Page

The Gallery page has drop down menu to each gallery that I have work in. At the moment, they are under construction. On the Gallery Home Page, I have added image buttons for easy navigation, these all link to their relevant pages.

Contact Page

The contact page is fully running with my email and tumblr ask, and also a submission box.

List of things to add to my Wix

I need to put my 2D animation onto Youtube and then link the video through to my Portfolio page on Wix.

I also need to gather all of my work together and create a showreel, upload it to YouTube and then put onto the Showreel page on Wix.

I also need to upload the 2D Animation to Behance.

Evaluation - 2D Animation

Feedback that I have got:

Paris: WOOOW I love it! Love the music from Tangled - good choice, the fairy reminds me a bit of tinker bell, animation and graphics are great. Loving the style of it. Wouldn't change a thing.

Mat: Your animation is really smooth and looks really good.

Luke: I honestly have no words to describe your 2d animation. It is actually really good, music fits with the theme well. Animation was very good as well.

Grant: You’re animation turned out great, you’ve used the techniques we’ve learnt well and your art style works great with the animating.

What went well:

I found it quite easy to complete this project as I enjoyed the drawing side of the animation, which you don’t have with 3D animation. I thought the drawing went well, and so did the frame by frame animation with the flower. 

I think I worked really well and kept to all of the deadlines that I gave myself, and managed to get the animation done in plenty of time for the final deadline. I think this is a very good animation for my first attempt and I am quite proud. I think that the way that I have animated the fairy dust works well, as I tried creating a shape and using a motion tween but it didn’t have the same effect as creating it using frame by frame. I think it gave it sort of a sparkly effect. I know that in my pitch review, I said that I will think about using some sort of transition to show that the season was changing, but I think that introducing the scenes using the environments was clear enough to the viewer that they were different seasons. Also no one has mentioned that they didn’t understand that it was different seasons so I think that it didn’t need it.

What I could improve on:

I think that I could improve on and could have spent more time on the final scene where I have used frame by frame animation to create the ice forming on a branch. However, this was a bit jumpy and didn’t flow very well. If I had spent more time making sure it worked as I was going along it would probably have looked better.

I also think that I could have made sure that in some parts that the fairy dust kinda of doesn’t flow properly, I should have made sure that it moves in the right way. Also in between scenes, there was a bit of a jump, I should’ve made sure that the fairy was in exactly the same place in each scene.

Here is my home page example, hopefully what it will eventually end up looking like. I have tried to keep it simple as I don’t want anything overpowering my work, I want my work to be the centre of attention and be the stand out on the page.
