"Ah, ah," Whumper chides Whumpee, tapping their victim's jaw with increasing force until Whumpee is forced to open their eyes. "Don't you dare drift off. You're going to feel all of this. That's what you're for."

Everyone loves the scenario of the Whumpee who came back wrong.

The bubbly sunshine who comes back shell-shocked and quiet.

What about the Whumpee who gets captured while they’re stoic, cold, and unemotional…

Only for them to come back cheerful and sweet?

They smile and they get up early in the morning. They don’t even so much as shoot a sidelong glare at the others when they’re asked to do a task. They’re guarded about what exactly happened with them and Whumper, but will happily insist that they’re just fine and whatever happened really wasn’t so bad.

But that upright posture, candid laughter- those warm greetings whenever someone else enters the room- anticipating the needs of others, “do you want me to put the tea kettle on?”

It starts to look a little bit less like a sunny disposition… and a little bit more like obedience.

“I could kill you, you know.”

Whumpee’s heart plummeted, but they said nothing, keeping their face a careful mask of stoicism. Whumper only grinned, leaned closer.

“Slit your throat. Beat you ‘til your eyes can’t open. Wrap my hands around that pretty little neck and squeeze the life out of you.”

Each sentence conjured images that made Whumpee sick. Their hands began to shake.

“But really….where’s the fun in that? You’re much better like this. Alive, suffering, trembling for me.”

dehumanization tropes i love

-not allowed on furniture. remain standing or kneel on the floor, no sitting

-not allowed to make eye contact 

-being silenced immediately every time they try to speak 

-casual manhandling, being dragged alone because they’re not trusted to move by themselves 

-casual, nonconsensual touch. randomly pulling them closer, absently playing with hair, manually adjusting their posture

-giving orders without explanation 

-giving orders they know are arbitrary, just to exercise power

-talking about them like they aren’t even in the room 

-authorizing other people to monitor and control them

-being kept in restraints 24/7, with movement restricted even further in their downtime 

-degrading their natural behaviors and reflexes. stare is creepy, smile is ugly, flinching is disrespectful, etc…

-putting down their hobbies/interests

-ascribing ill intent to all their actions and assuming the worst from them

Big Bad Wolf series

Would-be whumper but tends to accidentally end her catch's life prematurely.

Whether she's a shifter or some sort of hybrid, it's hard to tell. She falls into infatuation hard and fast-- but if that isn't reciprocated in enough time, well, she gets angry. Really, she just wants someone to feel as intensely towards her-- whether adoration or hatred-- as she feels for others.

Does she feel guilty? Sometimes. Do the ghosts of who she's killed haunt her? Sometimes. But you always remember your first. 💜 it's a shame she can't recreate that feeling, that situation, but with one who will last.

Imagine ransom videos where whumpee is getting periodically more broken

First video they curse at whumper holding the camera and then hide their injuries and refuse to speak to the camera

Next one they break off mid-sentence when they see the video, sob once and hide their face

Finally the video is just them, body covered in visible marks of torture, releases a hysterical little sob and stares at the camera through glazed eyes

"Litte [animal]" type pet names for whumpees will always drive me feral, especially if they're prey animals.

"Little mouse."

"Little rabbit."

"Little deer."

"Little bird."

Oh, man, little bird is my favorite, actually. It scratches a very particular itch and has a specific undertone of affection that the others don't. Whumpee is just a little bird in a cage for whumper, something for them to admire and play with until they get bored or whumpee stops singing for them (literally or figuratively!)

Prey animal pet names don't work for every whumper or whumpee, but they are sooooooooooo good when they do. I'd love to see them used more often.

Whumpee clawing, scrabbling frantically at their throat as they suffocate
