There are few things I hate more in this world then this aspect of lgbt fandom where they see a male character that expresses his emotions and decide that he isn’t a man. I know most people doing this are just non binary people starving for representation and I don’t blame them for that. But to me it just reinforces the idea I have to behave in an ultra masculine absolute chad way to be seen as a man, and that’s just not me. It makes me dysphoric as fuck when people headcanon male characters I relate to as nb or gender non conforming because they aren’t ultra masculine. Especially when they go on to misgender him and get mad at me for asking them to at least put a warning for misgendering… fucking hate that. One of the many reasons I kind of left fandom.

An open letter to transmeds and truscum

I’m not here to call you a cis bootlicker or say you’re evil or any of that because I’ve been in your shoes. I’ve been in a hole so dark that being trans seemed to only bring pain and struggle, where there seemed to be no light or joy to it at all. I’ve been so insecure in my identity that the only way I thought I could justify myself and be seen as who I really am was to distance myself from other trans people who weren’t like me while tearing them down.

I hope it gets better for you. I hope your dysphoria lessens, I hope you grow confident enough in who you are that you don’t see other trans people as threats. I hope you can see that while dysphoria is hell on earth, being trans doesn’t have to be. I hope that when you get to that place you can look at those around you long and hard, and that you realize they’re not the ones hurting you. I hope you can find peace.

What the hell is this… faux sympathetic crap? Do you really expect anyone to fall for this?

It isn’t insecurity that motivates people to become transmeds, and it certainly isn’t some petty need to hurt people based on their own misery like a bully from an old Hollywood film.

It’s that some people, believe it or not, don’t like it when someone makes a mockery of them by going “my gender is autism! Oh, my gender changes based on whether I’m wearing trousers or a skirt! Oh, I’m totally trans even if I don’t want to transition! Brain sex (and by extension dysphoria) isn’t real!”

Some people just want their issues to be taken seriously, because it’s an issue that has a fucking body count, and they don’t appreciate being made fun of. It’s that simple.

People like you ARE the ones hurting trans people, and you’re not gonna fix that with your holier-than-thou crocodile tears. Get bent!

I’m going to assume OP is being genuine even if they come across as being condescending.

It’s not about “not like other trans people”, much in the same way as being anti-feminists isn’t about being “not like other girls”. I will say that there’s a lot of us transmeds who grew up in shitty and abusive situations with really disapproving (and frankly, jerkass) family members, and that may have something to do with it, especially if they’re really vitriolic about it and use their status to dunk on other trans folks all the time (essentially “passing the buck” of bullying as it were). I kind of eased up on the vitriol myself without really letting go of the core belief that being trans is a medical/neurological issue*, because it really wasn’t doing me much good. But this whole “you must be a pickme”/”you owe me complete loyalty for being in the same demographic as me” mindset really gets us nowhere, whether we apply this to women or to trans people, because each group has (and should have) a diversity of opinion inside of it. You don’t have to march to the beat of the One True Drummer to be counted as a member of a group.

*Because my experience was very similar to my being neuroatypical in the way I was seen and treated by others, as well as the medical aspects and it being beyond my control.

im never going to believe that posts like these, even if they really are written by trans people, are truly genuine for two reasons: 1) you’d have to be incredibly up your own ass to think anybody won’t see through your patronizing bullshit and 2) the amount of bullying and suicide baiting and harassment et cetera coming from anti-transmeds makes me inherently leery of anything yall say because yall have proven yourselves to be untrustworthy. nine times out of ten you either do it or defend it, so fuck you and anything you have to say. unless you begin your speech with a foreword demonstrating your awareness of the toxicity of your side, i dont wanna hear any of it

As soon as I read the first sentence I knew it was gonna be another person claiming to have “seen the light” or whatever when really they’re just talking down to people who maintained their spine and didn’t buckle under the bullying and social pressure that comes with holding transmed opinions.

If you called yourself a transmed/truscum because of the wrong reasons that’s your fault and you should reconcile that instead of projecting that onto everyone else. If you really wanted things to get better for trans people then you would support trans medicalization. If you want our dysphoria to lessen, you would support trans medicalization and stop intentionally including people under the trans label to continue to increase stigma against us.

Look, tucutes. I know transphobes have hurt you by using the term mental illness as an insult, but that doesn’t mean dysphoria makes you a bad person. And just like any other mental illness, you shouldn’t claim to have the symptoms of it if you don’t have the disorder. You wouldn’t claim to be autistic if you weren’t on the spectrum, you wouldn’t claim to have OCD if you weren’t diagnosed… Oh wait, yes you would.

Maybe stop treating mental illnesses as trends, bc this entire thing is belittling.
