It’s not that I don’t enjoy being spoken about, but at least give me the benefit of an in-depth conversation first. You don’t have to say anything nice, just say something of substance. If you want to mumble that I’m a ‘wanker’ or that I’m ‘gorgeous’ as you walk past, at least give me a little more attention than just that. We’re social creatures, we thrive off of attention, and all of that nonsense. Some of the people around here, I swear.

Anyone think they can handle it? Go on. Impress me.

For anyone who hasn’t had the chance to see it, tonight is your very last opportunity to see Madison and myself starring in Chicago! The run hasn’t been without its ups and downs, so in some regard I’m definitely ready to move on to the next challenge that awaits me, but the time that I’ve been able to spend with the cast has been an experience that I will certainly remember always. 

I also have a few passes to the cast party afterwards if anyone is interested in joining us, so if you’re interested in attending please let me know!

I don’t think Steve and Bunny are big fans of Footloose. They keep hiding while I’m rehearsing. Or maybe it’s just my dancing they don’t like.

Yikes! How loudly are you playing the music? I remember reading somewhere that bunnies have very sensitive ears so maybe that’s why they don’t like it.

Huh, I never thought about that before. It totally builds up confidence and stuff though! I’ve been performing with my guitar with a long time, but doing Rent was like this whole other deal, you know? It helped a lot.

It definitely seems like it would be to me. I think I probably have the confidence, but using it in a different way and performing and having to display different emotions could be very helpful for me as a lawyer. Plus, so far it’s been great stress relief. It’s nice focusing on something else, rather than making everything about my law classes. They are great, but I can’t let them consume my life.

That’s interesting. They usually wait until after New Years to put out the Valentine’s Day stuff. 

They generally like to make as much money as possible and I guess the profits are best if they do things this way.

I’m excited to say

That after a lot of talk with the Berry men that I’ll be returning to Ame Cerise on a biweekly basis as the performer a few times a week. They’ve worked out a great deal with my record company and I’ll even have a little merch table set up every day where you’re all more than welcome to scan the silly things I’ve come up with. My first gig back is next Wednesday so I hope to see some of you there!

By all means! I’m sure you will be impressed by whatever you manage to find. That’s the plan, anyway. I’m still quite unsure about where I’ll be going to actual law school so I’m not entirely sure whether she will stay my mentor forever. Even if she doesn’t though, I’m hopeful that she’ll remember me and if I apply for a job with her when I graduate, she’ll accept me.

If you ever need a lawyer for anything let me know! I’m more than happy to help a friend out, whatever the problem. At least, I can help with any legal trouble or questions you may have. I can’t promise the same for things outside of my knowledge base.

Ah a New York native. Good to know that you knew what I was trying to say. I’m not saying I am anything like that either, but yes I can be a little more…aggressive now that I have lived in New York. But, as you pointed out, if someone gets in my way I am more likely to show that side. 

Oh. I’m not in that many just some episodes…in the background. I was just starting off though.

New York is a wonderful place. It has a way of getting into your blood and never really leaving you. It also gives you a bit of an edge I think. New York is where I know I learned to take no crap and to stand up for myself because no one was going to make anything easy for me. It’s honestly what enabled me to rise to the top of my class at UChicago and to succeed as a law student where others failed.

It really just gives me an excuse to rewatch it. I love watching Law and Order especially, so honestly all you did was decide my next Netflix binge. Plus, I do want to see you doing your craft and it’s easier to do this than to try to watch literally any soap opera episodes. They are too ridiculous for me. Everyone always dying and coming back to life. It throws me off.

I hope everyone had a good holiday. Columbus has been busy - I’ve had a fun trip, but I’m ready to be back in Chicago.

I would also like to mention that I’m the featured cabaret performer at Davenport’s Piano Bar on Sunday evening at 7. There’s a cover charge to get in, but it’s a fun way to end the weekend. If you don’t have plans, I expect to see your smiling faces there.

I understand that desire to be back in Chicago. I loved having Thanksgiving with my family back on the East Coast, but I’m also really glad to be back here making things happen. I also have to admit that I missed you guys over the few days I was away.

I wish I had known before I booked my flights! I flew back Sunday afternoon, so I didn’t get back until fairly late and then I had to unpack and all of that. I hope you did well and got a large crowd though!

Happy Thanksgiving one and all! I’m thankful for my loving family, all my awesome friends, and for the education I’ve been given. Three years is a long time compared to some. I see. Well, it sounds like you’re simply used to it then. I grew up further upstate and while I don’t particularly mind big cities, I find the volume of people rather inconvenient at times. Boredom has never been much of an issue for me, but when getting to work takes me an extra forty-five minutes because the last two subways that came by were too full and I couldn’t squeeze on.. eventually it all just starts to get on my nerves.

I like running on wooded trails for that very reason; there’s much more to look at and the uneven terrain requires more attention. It’s much less monotonous than, say, running on a treadmill at the gym. I rarely do that. But I still could never dance. It’s my understanding that dancing requires some modicum of rhythm, which I certainly don’t have.

I guess it is a long time. I don’t live here year-round though, so I don’t really think of it as home. Ah I can see why that might be frustrating. You just have to learn the city’s rhythm. Once you figure that out, you’ll almost never have problems like that again. Of course, the city can still surprise you, but you’ll at least be much more prepared. It’ll come in time.

That would definitely be better than a treadmill.Still not quite my speed though. Yeah, if you don’t have any rhythm dancing wouldn’t quite work. It would be pretty entertaining to watch though!

No, I suppose I wouldn’t. I try not to drink so much that I lose my sense of self.

You should still show your law degree the respect it deserves. No one wants a lawyer who drinks so much he can’t function the next day.

Has your mentor published any good literature that you know of? I’m interested to know who you might be working under. Especially if she’s being good to you. Is she your mentor from here on out or will you have to get another one?

For what it’s worth, it sounds like you’re on track to be a fantastic lawyer.

She’s not really the publishing type. She’s an active lawyer so her time is mostly spent defending clients, rather than writing literature. But her name is  Kalia Coleman, if you want to look her up. I should be able to stay with her until I ever leave school, if I decide to go somewhere else for law school, or she decides she no longer wants to work with me. We get alone well, so I don’t think the latter will be a problem, so that’s good.

Thing about New York is you learn to live in it. If that makes sense. What I mean is, you learn to become a New Yorker and eventually that kind of thing doesn’t bother you mostly because you’ve become just as unfriendly. I hope you followed me on that.

Of course you do. Well, I’ve been on a few episodes of Law and Order and NCIS. Nothing major though.

I’m actually extremely aware of how life in New York is. I live near there when I’m not in school. My family lives on LI and I can navigate the city like a pro. I know what you’re talking about, even though I don’t personally think I’ve become unfriendly. Unless, of course, you are in my way when I’m trying to get somewhere. Then my New York roots come out full force.

Huh. Those must have been episodes I missed, since I do actually watch those shows. I’ll have to rewatch them to see you. What a terrible burden.
