Idk yet but youâll find out tomorrow for the final SoL update đąâ€ïž
Hi again :)
I found an amazing radio today and all of these were on it anyway Iâll hope u guys like this edition of N.Eâs radio favs!
Devil Town- Cavetown- Cavetown- 2015
This is amazing. I think this might be a new favourite
Be an Astronaut- Declan McKenna- Be and astronaut- 2020
I love the the dynamics and melody of this song and the lyrics are just amazing. Maybe I should give Declan McKenna a second shot?...
The Cult of Dionysus-The Orion Experience- Cosmicandy-2007
I actually knew about this one before today when my friend was playing me some of the stuff her sibling had played her. I think itâs pretty fucking cool. And I also thought the band was called the onion experience for a while so... oops đŹ
Hope you like this week (sorry it was so brief but Iâm tired af) see you next week for the final (đą) sound of lockdown. Thanks for reading another rambling N.Eâ€ïž
Hello and welcome to the weekendđ„ł
I was camping for some of last week so I didnât have much of an opportunity to listen to music but tonight me and my family ended up just having like an hour long dancing sesh with lights and stuff. It was weird but very fun. Anyway here are some of my favourite songs from that.
This is definitely my favourite basement Jaxx song. I mainly love it because of the music video. When you first listen to it you probably think itâs about like some young people hitting on each other but then the music video completely flips that idea and the band has some amazing costumes too. Listen to it first but I really encourage you to watch it afters!
This is one of my mumâs favourites. She absolutely loves the beat and honestly shut down for a few days when she found out that rankin roger died. Itâs an amazing song and probably their most famous but if you like this one I would also recommend âstand down Margaretâ which is a total leftist anthem about a certain bastard prime minister....
This is one that I first listened to with my dad. We listened to it so much that we now even have actions to the âall I wanna doâ section. It also uses the riff from the clashâs song âgo straight to hellâ which is another amazing song but maybe not so dance-y.
Anyway I hope you enjoyed this special dance edition of the sound of lockdown and comment down below what your favourite songs to dance to are. Iâd really love to know and hopefully give them a listen! See you next week! NE
(Iâll add dates and titles in later!)
HAPPY FRIDAY MY DUDES!!!!!!
Hope you all had a good week. Iâm finally back from my holiday it was lovely but tiring and now Iâm off again!! I apparently canât stay in one lace for too long this month đ
Right then here are my songs for this week
Skeleton Appreciation Day in Vestal, NY (Bones)- Will Wood and the tapeworms- Everthing is a lot- 2015
I heard this one yesterday with my friend. I just think that itâs so cute. My friend has linked skeletons to this entire album but for this one I just see little skeletons dancing around in a room. Some slow dancing some just vibing and some just doing their thing. Anyway itâs a really nice song and sorry to say this again but SO CUTE.
Just Like Heaven- The Cure- Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me- 1987
Now Iâve known this one for a long time but I just think itâs such a lovely song. I really love the âlost and lonelyâ lyric To tell you the truth, I am so terrible at describing cure songs because I think that theyâre just masterpieces in their own way and the romantic ones are always my favourite (because Iâm a big olâ sop at the end of the day!)
Kiss Off- Violent Femmes- Violent Femmes- 1983
Now here is the upbeat one for this update! Iâve been listening to this album while running (a great idea btw) but I think that this one is my favourite. I love how angsty and teenage it sounds. Just like a fuck them the horny bastards kind of scene in a film before going off and finding their own person to snog. The pain and anger in the vocalists voice is so raw and miserable. The build up in the opening verses is also just amazing. Actually I just recommend the whole album. Those of you who are/were angsty and frustrated teens will definitely resonate with the feelings in the album.
Anyway hope you guys have a good week and see you next Friday for more: SOUND OF LOCKDOWN (*dramatic voice*)

Hola mi gente de la mĂșsica! Woo Spanish
This week Iâve mainly been listening to music while running because itâs the only way I can distract myself from the extreme pain that my body is experiencing. I also managed to semi-accidentally go on a 7 mile walk which gave me a lot of time to listen to music. I also got a lot of scornful stares from boomers as I walked around a park in a massive parka and beanie looking like I might be a dealer. (But then people see my innocent little angel face and realise that their still safe (for now đ) )
any way here are this weeks tracks I hope you enjoy them and see you next week! NE
Pretty Girl- Clairo- Pretty Girl- 2017
I donât really know why this appeals to me so much but I really love the synth keyboard in it and it feels las most nostalgic to me. It really reminds me of the music that plays on the Nintendo mii game. I found a really cool video where somebody did the tune of it using bottles which I will also attach and those who donât know what the fuck Iâm on about may see.
Something changed- Pulp- Different Class- 1995
I decided to add this one after I was reading a book about the John peel sessions (for those outside the U.K Jon peel was a famous radio presenter and responsible for many artists big break). Whenever I come back to my aunts house I always look through the book and see if my new favourite bands ever had a peel session. Pulp did and I found this amazing quote about Britpop at the time and I honestly couldnât agree more...
I think this sums up perfectly how even though they may not have made a massive impact worldwide like oasis or had the looks of blur they definitely won the Britpop battle.
Androgynous- The Replacements- Let it Be (Expanded) - 1984
I chose this one because I love that itâs a statement that could also be mistaken for smooth hotel jazz. The two things donât go together but it still works so well and I just really love the lyrics and the change wobble in the âlove each other soâ lyric. If this makes sense it sounds like a squiggly line. This is the point where you all realise Iâm actually just an artist who wants to nerd out about music and doesnât know any vocab :))
Hiyaaaaaa! Nice to see you guys again
I left my house for the first time in for-f**king-ever and aside from the fact that Iâm permanently tired due to looking after my two younger cousins who have an endless amount of energy I am great!
Novocaine For the Soul- The Eels- Beautiful Freak- 1996
I donât entirely know why this appeals to me so much but I (along with the other 23 million people who stream this song) really like the the âbefore I sputter outâ lyric. I also really love the bluntness of the verses between the chorus and how it goes from that to the smooth ânovocaine for the soulâ lyric all round an absolute 90s classic.
Blister In The Sun- The Violent Femmes- The Violent Femmes- 1983
This is another one that I always try to add to summer playlists. It reminds of when I was little and listened to it while driving around with my dad and just singing along. Itâs also an amazing song that I think I would still have liked if Iâd found it on my own. I love the anger in the lyrics how itâs romantic but also angsty. Another good one by the violent femmes âgone daddy goneâ itâs pretty similar to this one and I almost got them confused while I was writing this (oops)
Something For Your M.I.N.D- Superorganism- Something For Your M.I.N.D-2017
I found this one when it came out. I have no idea how but I fucking love it. Itâs the kind of song I think would be great to listen to on a mega bass-y speaker while high. Just a personal op. If you watch videos of Superorganism performing live they are quite honestly the coolest thing to have hit the earth. All of their sound effects are them opening a can or biting and Apple while still performing. The group is also pretty massive and their music videos are pretty trippy. In conclusion; amazing. And I rlly love this album cover.
All of these songs are from my holiday playlist and I suspect most of next weeks songs will be from there too. But I hope you guys like these ones and see you next week! NE
Hello again! Long time no see!!!
Right so this is the first post like this but this week I found some really great songs. I also discovered girl I. Red and have been listening to them nearly non-stop but do there is going to be other stuff recommended as well so here we go!
Track 45.
The two things on this earth that I will always love is the cure and joy division. This is such an incredibly difficult song to take on as it was heavily orientated around Ian Curtisâ voice but this is so beautiful. I love Robert smiths voice on his own songs but he doesnât have many songs where he sounds so quiet and vulnerable and itâs amazing to hear the emotion in his voice like this.
I found this on YouTube a few months ago but the top comment is so good that I feel I need to share it
Too true
Track 46.
I started couch to 5K this week and so I decided to find some really chill music to run to. This song is so good! It still definitely falls under pop but the vocals are amazing and slightly husky. The lyrics are also amazing in this one. My personal favourite is âI will follow you home/although my lips are blue and I am coldâ I just think it perfectly describes going unnecessarily out of your way for someone you have a crush on. The feeling of yes I can and will put myself through extremes for you to prove that I am secretly in love with you. that went a bit off track towards the end but you get the idea...
Track 47.
This is another one on my couch to 5K playlist and the more I listen to it the more I like it. Itâs still pretty calm but also sounds like something that shouldâve been played at the school dance scene in sex education. If you disagree you obviously donât remember the scene.
Anyway I hope you guys like the new format of this and hope you enjoy the songs. Especially 45, it is amazing. Please carry on sending in requests and see you next week! NE
Hiatus Update!
Ok, well as youâve probably noticed I didnât come off hiatus when I said I would so instead ,starting this week, Iâm going to recommend the songs Iâve been listening to.
This will be every Friday (hopefully) and I will give you maybe 2 or 3 songs (idk I havenât really got that far yet) but this will just be easier for me to maintain through the summer and then depending on what the hell happens with corona I will probably be stopping around September. I will still occasionally post after that but my work will probably start to pick up after that so yeah!
Thanks for reading this long explanation and see you again on Friday! NE
HIATUS
Hello!
Iâm gonna go on hiatus for a couple weeks I just need time regroup and plan ahead a little. Iâm still accepting requests and stuff but you may have to wait a little longer before getting them added. Thanks for all the support so far but my posts have been slipping in quality lately so I just need a little break.
See you on the 15th! NE
â€ïž
Track 44
Iâm in a bit of a rush and donât think Iâll have time to post later so Iâm going to just add this and edit it later!! See you tomorrow NE
Track 43
Gender is Boring- Grrrl Angst- She/Her/Hers- 2018
I found this track while doing the pride playlist but then it didnât quite get into the mix because I hadnât really listened to it that much. But now after having listened to it a bit more I really love it. I love the raspiness of the vocals and the lyrics are amazing. I really love the way they sing âboys donât dress that wayâ or more accurately âbOoOOoOOOOoooOoOOOoooOOOOoOOys donât dress that wayâ this doesnât make sense now but I promise you it will after listening đ. Anyway I hope you love this one and see you tomorrow! NE
Track 42
Holy Ghost- Cocoa Sugar- Young Fathers- 2018
Just going to apologise for forgetting about yesterdayâs track. Donât know what happened there but moving on...
This album is actually incredible and if you havenât already listened to it I highly recommend listening through it. I found this album in 2018 after going to a concert they were the support act for and I personally believe they were better than the actual band... but thatâs just my opinion... It was really difficult to chose one song from this album but I really love the start of this one so thatâs why Itâs here! I went through a very long phase at the beginning of lockdown just listening to this album over and over and over. Thatâs why I find it so hard to pick one song because to me itâs just one 37 minute masterpiece. I have listened to it so much that something actually feels wrong if a different song comes on afterwards. Itâs like a massive chunk of the song has been ripped out almost. But I really hope you love this album and it defo makes up for forgetting yesterday đ . see you tomorrow! NE
P.S I would recommend putting the Spotify equaliser on bass booster for a better listening experience ;)
Track 41 (Iâm missing the rainbow ;_;)
Piazza, New York Catcher- Dear Catastrophe Waitress- Belle & Sebastian- 2003
Iâve been listening to this almost non-stop over the last few days. I am actually in love with it. I really love how it sounds kind of like a sailor shanty but also more modern construct and style. I say this loads but it really feels like thereâs a story behind it. Most Belle & Sebastian songs have this about them and the few that Iâve listened to feel really nostalgic and have a childlike quality to them despite revolving around not very child orientated subjects. I think itâs so beautiful even though my family are pretty sick of it nowđ! Anyway see you tomorrow with the next track! NE
Track 40
Boum!- Charles Trenet- 1938
If you donât love this song we might have an issue. It always reminds me of when we went to France to visit my sister when I was little. It also reminds me of the fact that no matter how much I believe I can speak french the reality is that I canât đ.
Iâve really enjoyed doing the pride playlist for June. Some of these songs are now going to be firm favourites of mine for a very long time to come. I really hope you enjoyed this months choices and if you want to find any of them Iâm updating the playlist on Spotify later tonight (my pinned post has the code to find it)
I hope you all had a good pride month despite all the shit thatâs going on and stay LGBTQ+! (????)
