LIVE REVIEW: Cradle of Filth - The Kasbah, Coventry, 16/08/2014

 Spiked leather shoulder pads, a skeleton with devil horns chained and suspended from an enormous cross and a man thrusting at a black plastic goats head on a stick. Could it really be anything other than a Cradle of Filth show?

It may not quite be as extreme as their European counterparts, but the band know how to put on a show if nothing else. There may not be animal carcasses strewn across the stage like Mayhem or the stench of death and decay that fills the room on the night of a Watain show but there's still the same sinister atmosphere before they take to the stage.

Acts scheduled to perform at Jabberwocky festival announce last minute replacement shows

A number of artists who had been scheduled to perform at this weekend's Jabberwocky festival in London have announced details of last minute replacement shows following the events cancellation.

Artists including indie rock band Neutral Milk Hotel, legendary drone band Earth and black metal band Deafheaven have all announced intimate shows across the city.

Machine Head announce new album details and UK tour

American metal band Machine Head have announced the details of their upcoming album, as well as a string of UK dates later this year.

In a new blog post published to the bands official Facebook page earlier today, frontman Rob Flynn confirmed the title, tracklist and artwork of the release.

The band also announced that a ten date UK tour will take place later this year.

Upon A Burning Body streaming new album

The upcoming release from Upon A Burning Body is streaming online.

The World is My Enemy Now is the third studio album from the American deathcore group and is due to be officially released on August 12.

The record feature Red Razor Wrists and Scars, both of which were revealed in July. The album is produced by Will Putney, who has worked on both of the groups previous albums as well as works by Visions of Disorder, Stray From The Path and Suicide Silence.

Dragonforce cover Johnny Cash

British power metal band Dragonforce have covered Johnny Cash, and are currently streaming the track online.

The cover will feature on the band's upcoming sixth studio album Maximum Overload which will be released on August 18th. It will be featured as the final track of the ten song long record.

Godflesh reveal UK tour, album details and new track

British industrial metal band Godflesh have revealed details of their upcoming seventh album.

Earlier today the band also announced plans for a UK tour, with stops in London, Manchester and a host of other cities.

The group also released a track entitled New Dark Ages, which offers a preview of the record; their first album of new material in 13 years. This follows the release of the Decline and Fall EP earlier this year.

Obituary announce London show

American death metal icons Obituary have revealed plans to perform in London early next year.

Support will come from M-Pire of Evil featuring guitarist Mantas who came to prominence as a member of black/thrash metal band Venom throughout the early eighties and nineties.

Thrash metal band Dust Bolt and death metal band Rotting Repugnancy will be joining the band on the bill.

Stevie Nicks streams track from upcoming album online

Stevie Nicks is currently streaming a track taken from her upcoming eight studio album online.

The Dealer is the first song to be released from Fleetwood Mac singers next album, 24 Karat Gold: Songs From the Vault.

The album will consist of tracks written between 1969-1987 that have never before been commercially available. Pre-orders for the album are currently available online from Nicks's official website.

The song is currently available on the artists official Youtube channel.

Protest the Hero release music video through new website

Canadian progressive metal band Protest the Hero have premiered a music video through their new website, http://www.protestthehero.ca/.

The track, Mist, has been taken from their latest studio album Volition which was released in October 2013. The record helped to popularize crowd-funding in the metal scene as it was one of the first to demonstrate how successful the platform could be.

The eight minute long video, which heavily pays tribute to the island of Newfoundland, opens with interview footage with members of the band, alongside footage that seems to have been recorded on previous tours.

Amen cancel all UK dates due to Alt-Fest cancellation

American punk band Amen, featuring Casey Chaos and Dave Lombardo, have been forced to cancel all dates on their upcoming UK tour.

The band had previously been scheduled to perform at the now cancelled Alt-Fest. They were scheduled to play directly before Gary Numan and Marilyn Manson on the main stage.

They had also booked a number of dates surrounding the event which have now been pulled due to financial issues. These shows had been booked in Nottingham, Glasgow, Manchester and London.

Twin Atlantic to tour UK in October/November

Twin Atlantic, the critically acclaimed Scottish rock band, have announced a string of dates towards the end of the year.

The tour will be in support of their upcoming album Great Divide, which is currently set for release on August 19th via Red Bull Records.

The twelve date run includes stops at Glasgow's Barrowlands, Manchester Academy and London's Roundhouse.

Washington based metalcore outfit Darkest hour have released a new music video for their track The Misery We Make.

Taken from their upcoming self-titled record, this track moves away from the band's previous melodic death metal style and towards a more commercial, metalcore influenced sound.

UK alternative rock band Marmozets have announced the details of their forthcoming debut album.

Earlier tonight the group revealed the album artwork (above), track listing and release date of their first record which is currently available to pre-order on iTunes. The group have also suggested that physical pre-orders and bundles may be available soon

Killing Joke and My Ruin both announce intimate shows following cancellation of Alt-Fest

My Ruin are one of a number of acts who were set to perform at the now cancelled Alt Fest and the latest to announce a last-minute intimate show as a replacement.

According to an event listing on the venues website and the poster seen above, the group are set to support industrial metal band The Defiled at Corby's The Zombie Hut on August 15th.

The Defiled announced details of the show on Friday and an official announcement confirming that My Ruin will support them is expected tomorrow.

Metallica to headline Saturday night of Glastonbury festival

Legendary thrash metal band Metallica have finally been confirmed as the elusive third headliner of Glastonbury 2014.

Lars Ulrich, drummer and founding member of the group, had previously stated that the group had a strong desire to play.

The setlist for this show will not be 'By Requeust' in the same way as other dates on their tour with the band choosing the songs themselves rather than allowing the fans free choice.

Other acts set to perform at the festival include fellow headliners Arcade Fire and Kasabian, as well as legends such as Dolly Parton and Jack White alongside new acts including Drenge and Wolf Alice.

Also appearing will be Sounds Like Balloons favourites The Horrors, Lily Allen, Massive Attack and a host of other names.

Tickets for the festival are completely sold out, however UK fans will most likely be able to stream majority of the performances through the BBC, as has been the case in previous years.

Metallica will also perrform at Sonisphere the following weekend alongside Iron Maiden, The Prodigy, Alice in Chains, Deftones and a huge variety of other acts. Tickets are still available through most outlets.

Babymetal announce UK headline show

Internet superstars Babymetal have announced details of their first headline show in the UK.

This follows news that they will perform at Sonisphere festival three days earlier, playing the Apollo stage on the Saturday morning alongside artists including Iron Maiden, Deftones and Frank Turner.

Babymetal shot to fame with their song and accompanying video for "Gimme Chocolate!". The video has gone on to gain over 7.5 million views.

Tickets are priced at £25 with a £3.25 transaction fee and are currently available through Seetickets.

The show is expected to sell out relatively quickly due to the size of the venue, so those wishing to attend should book soon.

Fall Out Boy announce UK arena tour

Reunited pop-punk band Fall Out Boy have announced a string of UK arena dates.

This will mark the bands second visit to the UK to promote their latest record, Save Rock and Roll, following on from their sets at Reading & Leeds festivals and Camden's Underworld earlier in the year.

Staring in Cardiff on March 16th, the band will play a total of seven shows before finishing in Glasgow on the 22nd. Full dates can be found below.

Support acts for the tour are not yet known however tickets will go on sale Friday 4th October.
