*hits the joint* In the Harry Potter universe, Merlin is canonically a Hogwarts alumni and a Slytherin, which is impossible because Merlin predates the existence of Hogwarts by centuries. Of course, JK Rowling didn’t know that because she is a dumb bitch. I’m sorry. Misogynistic phrasing. She is a willfully ignorant and hateful, deeply unlikable and ill-informed, untalented and unspeakably cruel…..person. Seriously, how could you write a series about British wizards without truly understanding THE British wizard. Anyway, Merlin would never be able to attend any sort of organized schooling. He’s definitely self-taught in every universe because he’s the most powerful wizard ever AND he’d have been expelled from any institution before he stepped through the door. The only reason they haven’t escorted him away from Camelot is because he can see the future and he is kind of like the king’s dad. I was so disappointed by BBC Merlin. I turned it on and I was like “What the fuck is this shit, where is my perverted old man?”

He’s also referred to as a warlock in BBC Merlin, if I remember correctly. Those three words are used interchangeably in English though they have slightly different connotations and they mean different things in some fantasy series. Because his character and his lore originated in Middle Welsh and Old French literature, his powers, the language used to describe him and even what he is can vary greatly across Arthurian literature. Some sources will just refer to him as a ‘magician’ as a catch all term for anyone who wielded magic before it became a term for illusionists.

In popular tradition, he is the son of an incubus and a nun, he inherited his less savory magical powers from his father and his ability to see the future from God, who rewarded him for not becoming the antichrist. I do not know what that classifies him other than a cambion and the weirdest guy in Britain.

The biggest problem I have with "support black indie creators" is that people only really ever bring up black indie creators when a non-black (dare a say often white) indie creator gets exposed or called out for racism, and I hate to break it to you guys, but that is actually not a good thing.

Anti-blackness in the indie scene is a serious issue and we should always call it out even if it seems like a "nothing-burger," but at the same time you should always uplift and support black indie creators regardless. Solely bringing them up when some popular indie creator gets called out for racism will only lead them to being forgotten when the controversy dims down and everyone moves on to something else.

Please support black creators all year round and not just occasionally.

As Smeets says, “The spirit of the Ghetto Tarot project is the inspiration to turn negative into positive while playing. idk i always kind of roll my eyes at all those posts that are like “people used to be ugly in movies” like….. well☝️i don’t think that’s true. i think male actors have always had more leeway to look a bit imperfect. we’ve had average/weird looking male actors in every generation, including this one. but people have always needed to be “hot” for movies. and they did crazy shit for it!! marlene dietrich getting teeth extracted to hollow out her cheeks, carole lombard undergoing her (non-cosmetic) facial reconstruction without anesthesia because they thought it would look better, etc ad infinitum. do you know the kinds of diets they had women on to keep them skinny…. not to mention beauty standards for women of color tryna be in movies. like there’s a reason the three biggest black actresses of classic hollywood decades were josephine baker, lena horne, and dorothy dandridge: all pretty lightskinned with smaller mouths and noses -> approximating whiteness (no shade i love these women sm). i think the difference Today is that there are simply way more procedures you can get done since cosmetic medicine has evolved so much. so people can change more of their face with better and more reliable results than they could in the 1930s. point being that people have definitely always needed to be conventionally attractive to be in movies but given the physical scope of what could be conceivably changed about your appearance there was simply more diversity in like facial structure and features
