The Everly Brothers; All I Have To Do Is Dream [1958]
Heads or Tails - Jesús & Marcel
marcelxbertrand:
“You’re my family. You always have been.” Marcel nodded. “I do.” His lips twitched and he smiled. “I want to marry you where you were born. I’ve always wanted to go. Marry me there.” His eyes closed at the feel of hands cupping his face, “We can do it all but I’d marry you right here and now. I want to be husband. I want to be an eternity with you.” His hand moved to cover the one cradling his face, “You make me happy.” He read what was on the vampire’s mind, “I could marry you anywhere. I don’t need the expense, just you.” His fingers threaded through the vampire’s, “We could do it, just me and you, someone to officiate. Then after, we’ll have a ceremony. I want to be with you. I’m committed to you. Only you.” He groaned, softly, but out of irritation, “Why won’t you let me feed you?” His lips trailed skin, sucking lightly against the vampire’s flesh. His hands slipped beneath the material of the man’s black shirt and nails raked skin, “Let me feed you.” Marcel was unsure if he was talking about blood or something else. His body was growing warmer and his mind was slipping to desires he wanted to experience again with the vampire.
Jesús’ eyes remained staring at Marcel for a moment, the confession about wanting to be married where he was born was something new to him. And it made him happy. “I love you,” was his response, jaw tight as he tried to control waves of emotion coursing through him. He’d never been happier... Despite what they both faced he was thankful for the moments they have when they build memories like today’s. “That’s all I want. To make you happy...” Because god knows, Marcel made him happy everyday. “It’s settled then... We’ll have a private ceremony... You’ll make me your husband,” he grinned, pulling Marcel closer this time. “Then a bigger ceremony later on...” He hissed, feeling the man’s nails digging into his flesh, “Because feeding me will take a lot of your energy. You need your strength. For training. Work... I don’t want you worrying about me. I’ll be fine...” And nuzzled the man’s neck, a patch of skin sucked into his mouth, licked and gently nipped.
marcelxbertrand replied to your quote “You became the light on the dark side of me.”

Kiss From A Rose, Seal
Heads or Tails - Jesús & Marcel
marcelxbertrand:
Marcel felt his cheeks flush hot. They always did with the man’s attention. From the first kiss to the one he experienced five minutes before. “We’ll go wherever its best for our family.” That’s what they were, a family. They were also partners. Calls had been missed while he was away. Àngel had things under control at the restaurant but people had reached out seeking their services and he knew that would always be a part of their lives. “I would have married you in Chianti.” They were both eager and anxious, “But if I did that, I wouldn’t be able to marry you on a beach in Puerto Rico.” If they couldn’t marry in Italy, Jesús home is where he wanted their ceremony to be. “We could exchange vows if you want to be official…before…” One hand moved to the back of the vampire’s neck, “I want the people who are special to us, there to celebrate. Whoever you want. We’re sharing this day.” Marcel moved his lips to the base of Jesús’ neck, “Then eat. I’m rested. I want you to eat.”
Family. He liked the word; it warmed him from inside out and he knew Marcel caused it. “Is that what you want, Papito? To be married there? Or in the island? Cos I’ll marry you in every country if that’s what you wanted,” hands moved to cup the witch’s face. “Who says we can’t do all that? We can. No one’s stopping us. We can have one ceremony where we can invite everyone we want to be there and then go wherever you want us to go and do it all over again,” he meant every word he said. He had the means and he would do anything to make Marcel happy. He brushed the man’s cheek with his thumb, nodding his head as he admitted to what he truly desired. “I do - I want it to be official before the ritual... But we will both decide on this. Like you said, we are sharing the day...” He tipped his head back, letting Marcel’s lips kiss the skin on his neck, his fingers threading through the man’s thick curls. “Are you sure?” Then brought his head back to look into his fiance’s eyes, “I can drink what you’ve saved me in the fridge. You still need to rest. We had a long flight.”
Heads or Tails - Jesús & Marcel
marcelxbertrand:
“That is entertainment at its best.” Marcel felt guilty almost immediately. “I like Canada. We can move to Canada.” There was a smile on his lips but he wasn’t opposed. He didn’t agree with how things were unfolding. Going where led, Marcel followed Jesús lead when he pulled him away from the bags. His arms slipped around the vampire’s waist, “Honeymoon.” The word was whispered against a cool chest. “We still need to set a date.” He’d been tempted to suggest getting married in Italy. He didn’t want to wait but they both deserved a celebration they could remember. Tilting his head to the side, he looked up at the vampire, “Are you hungry? You’re looking at me like I’m food again.” This time the witch was teasing. He pulled himself up, leaning in until his lips brushed the others, “Or do you want to kiss me again?”
“Then we’ll move to Canada,” he said with a grin, tip of his nose brushed against the other’s. He sighed at the feel of Marcel’s warmth surrounding him once arms wrapped around his waist, grin widening as the word ‘honeymoon’ was repeated. “We do...” He agreed, hands ran down the man’s back, keeping his eyes on the other’s mouth. He’d been thinking about having a quick ceremony. Before the ritual. He didn’t want Marcel to go through it without them exchanging vows. But he thought of it as selfish. It was what he wanted... “If it was up to me, I’d marry you right now. Right this minute... But I want it to be perfect for you. I want your friends and family to be there. And mine, too, of course... What’s left of them,” he breathed out, chuckling, finally bringing his eyes to meet Marcel’s gaze. “I am actually... A little hungry. But I want to kiss you, too. I always want to kiss you.”
Heads or Tails - Jesús & Marcel
marcelxbertrand:
Marcel was speechless for a moment. He still had to reconcile that this was real and not a dream. “Why didn’t I join you in the shower?” He flipped the coin. Placing it on the back of his hand and removed it to show, “Tails…Looks like you’ll be making me tea.” He smiled as the man moved closer. He pouted momentarily when the kiss was broken. Sighing he placed the coin back in his pocket and moved for the first bag. “Why did we take so much stuff for a few days?”His fingers twisted in the black shirt that cover Jesús damp skin, “Or we could unpack tomorrow and go to sleep and avoid any more politics talk.”
Jesús chuckled, shrugging his shoulders, “You were glued to the TV. I say turn it off. We’re moving to Canada,” he was partly joking but he wasn’t opposed to packing his family up and moving them somewhere far away from the chaos - of this country, their duties, the ritual... “We don’t have to unpack tonight, you know?” He pulled the man by the arm, away from the luggage still sitting untouched in the middle of the bedroom. “Just - leave them like that for now. Soon we’ll be heading out for our honeymoon anyway,” he held the man close, eyes fixed on his lips.
Heads or Tails - Jesús & Marcel

The election results were background noise. Commentators pointing to red and blue on touchscreen maps. Marcel wasn’t worried about that now. He’d tripped over the bags at the foot of the bed more than once. It was time to unpack. Time to face that their impromptu vacation was over and the threat of real life was looming. He tossed the coin in his hand a few times, eyeing the man who now held a new title. He smiled, thinking about the proposal and his answer. Again he flipped the coin, “Heads or tails?” One more flip of a coin, “Pick or just volunteer to unpack and let me watch you.”
Jesús was getting out of the shower, a black shirt pulled over his head when he entered the room and caught the look Marcel had given him. He frowned but a smile appeared on his lips, walking over to his fiance. Running his hand over still damp hair, he squinted. “Heads,” he said after a few seconds of contemplation. He could’ve easily volunteered but he played the little game instead, it put a smile on Marcel’s face and he liked seeing it there. “If I win, you unpack and I’ll make you tea then give you a massage before bed?” He added, leaning in to steal a quick kiss from the other’s lips.
Alma de Mi Alma
marcelxbertrand:
Time was always the answer and patience was something he was working on. “You’ve had more time to perfect the art of patience.” He accepted the hand offered to him, easing from his seat as his body slid against Jesús. “Promises, promises…but I thought I told you to keep your mind out of the gutter.” The playfulness was good and now his mind was on later and what else he could be fed after dinner and dessert was long forgotten. “How long have you been plannin’ this?” The trip. Everything had been a surprise but Marcel knew Jesús long enough to know that nothing was all that spontaneous. Sure, plans could be set into motion at the last minute but thoughts often lingered in the back of the vampire’s mind and he waited for the perfect opportunity to act. He tried not to question. He wanted to feel. He wanted to enjoy tonight just like he’d enjoyed all the other moments they’d experienced in the short time at the villa and the vineyard. The tours of the grounds. The history of the family and the friend he’d lost. The quiet moments where they’d been alone and allowed their bodies to speak the words that they often couldn’t say with their mouths.
“I love you.” Words like those. Words he felt he needed to say more than ever. He closed his eyes as they danced. He could hear the music, feel it beneath his skin, but there was something else there, humming and buzzing. He swore if he didn’t know any better, it was the sound of Jesús heart and the air moving in and out of his lungs. He opened his eyes long enough for them to met the vampire’s. He smiled and offered those three words again, “I love you.” It felt natural and right. “I need to say it and thank you. For all the times I bit my tongue and thought I had to hide what I felt for you.” He moved closer. “Thank you for this trip and spending my birthday with me.” He almost did step on the other’s toes but he caught himself before his mistake, led to both of them tumbling in the grass. He was trying to have a moment, heartfelt and sincere. He didn’t need his natural ability to be a complete mess to ruin it for them. “There were times, I didn’t deserve you. That I made bein’ with me hard and you’re still here.” Dark eyes remained on the vampire’s face, “I don’t have the words to tell you how much you mean to me…How much this means to me…I just wanted to try. I hope you can feel it. I need you to feel it.” Marcel took a breath, his eyes closed and he held his breath, “I have no regrets about us. You. This. These memories are what I’ll hold onto when I’m on the other side. It’s what will bring me back to you.”
"Very true," he agreed to the man's first comment. "But it doesn't necessarily mean I have mastered being patient. Certain things, I am patient with. Some -" His shoulders shrugged as he pulled the man closer to him, "Waiting to get you alone again - It takes a lot of patience and a lot of work," he grinned, planting a kiss on the man's cheek. "Mi amor, you are unlike other men or other witches. You have a purpose and you don't have the luxury of being impatient. The wait is not going to be long. The power you held in your hands have a way of making things work whether you influence it ot not. What needs to be learned will be revealed in time. When it's needed. Do you understand?" He smoothed the man's forehead with his thumb, eyes fixed on the man's face. "I'm not going to lie - this whole preparation took a couple of days. It started the day before our flight. But I've always wanted to take you here. I've wanted this for a very long time and I'm happy you like it here..." The confession pulled a breath out of the vampire, his grip around the witch tightened, brushing his lips against mouth that proceeded to speak. He shook his head, eyes closed as he finally pressed a longing kiss onto Marcel's lips. "I love you, too," he said, opening his eyes and directly looking into the man's. "You don't have to thank me for anything. Everything I do, they're all for you... Know that. And no - it's not true that you don't deserve me. You can do better than someone like me -" His finger raised to stop the man from interrupting and speaking. "I knew this from the very beginning. Even your Mamere knew... That's probably why - I..." He frowned, hands falling to cup Marcel's face. He swallowed, eyes drifting to the side before they meet the witch's gaze once again. "What I did was unforgiveable and although - although you might say you find it your heart to do just that I - One day, I will pay for what I have done. And I am ready for it... But tonight, all I want you to feel is being loved. And I love you. More than anything. I don't want you to think about the ritual - It is easy to say that but know that it wasn't easy for me. I feel how you feel. And I'm scared, too." He once again swallowed, feeling the need to do so before taking Marcel's hands. "I understand how things work and there is no denying the possibility of losing you during the ritual," his thoughts wandered off, entertaining ideas he'd temporarily set to the side. As they neared the day of the ritual the more he visited the thought but still, he wasn't fully convinced it was the right decision. Was it one of those times when he'd know what to do when he gets there? The change in music pulled him out of his deep thoughts and he found himself staring into Marcel's brown eyes. And he smiled. If he had a heart beat, he would feel it race as he squeezed the man's hands within his hold. "I am half the man you are but I believe - I can make you happy." Slowly, Jesús went down on one knee, looking up, a smile painted his lips. "I want to make you happy... And I would like to do that as your husband," he then paused, momentarily looking down the man's hand he held within his, thumb brushed over warm skin. Bringing his sight to meet the man's eyes, he continued, "Will you marry me, Marcel?"
An awake heart is like a sky that pours light.

Alma de Mi Alma
marcelxbertrand:
Marcel could feel the sting of bitterness. It caused his chest to tighten. It started as a slight pinch and bloomed across the expanse of his chest. His hands clasped the vampire tighter. If there was one thing that he wanted to be clear, he was thankful. For a time and a place where they could be together again. Both believed they didn’t deserve forgiveness for the sins they’d committed. Thankfully it wasn’t up to either. Fate intervened and set their paths back together. “We don’t have to think about that tonight. Just you. Just me.” Marcel tried to think back to a time where they actually vacationed. No training. No practice. No listening to spirits or deciding what those voices meant for his magic or their partnership. “Mamere was alive.” It had been an extremely long time and yes it made this moment and their days together more special than he initially thought.
He was pleased that Jesús agreed with his suggestion. It would be good for his niece but also for them. “There’s all these missin’ pieces in my head. The how and why? I think it was important, my parents marriage and the Moreaus focus on the Bertands. That’s somethin’ I need to know and maybe it’ll help Noe understand things more.” He was doing just what he didn’t want to do tonight. “No work,” the words were whispered as his eyes fell to Jesús‘ lips. He groaned at the mention of food. His stomach was a ball of knots. He wanted to know it all. What came next. What would come after the next. And just what the vampire had planned for him. He attempted to pout but his heart wasn’t in it. How could it be when the perfect scene had been laid out before him. When Jesús had put forth so much effort to make their night perfect. “You’re perfect Cher.” Another whisper as the staff organized plates and silverware around them. he had to admit that the food smelled wonderful. The witch took a seat and he dared to take a bite as Jesús encouraged him to eat again. The food melted in his mouth but he was at war with himself, enjoy what had been prepared or the playfulness Jesús exhibited.
“If I pout…will you feed me?” It was his turn to tease, even as he plucked another piece of food and popped it in his mouth. Marcel hung on every words from Jesús‘ mouth. Some were met with a smile and others with a feigned pout. “You knew this already.” Dancing may or may not have been a good idea but as the music started, he couldn’t waste time thinking about his two left feet. “I think you better lead when we dance. I’ll try not to stop on your toes.” It was overwhelming. Thinking about where he could have been tonight, had they not found themselves back together. His eyes burned and even if he wanted to fight them, he couldn’t. Tears spilled and he lifted the glass of wine and held it out to toast, “To this lifetime and the next…I only want to share them with you.” He narrowed his eyes at the mention of his favorite band, “I’ll educate them before we leave,” the music swelled filling his ears, “But this will do. As long as I’ve got you, I can deal with your old songs.”
He slipped his fingers between Jesús‘. Holding the other’s hand in his. “Help me work up an appetite.” A playful smile tugged at his lips as he eyed the vampire, “Mind out the gutter, Cher. I mean we dance now and you tell me what’s on your mind. I want to hear it…everything.”
Jesús could see Marcel's head working over time as he thought about France and the things he could learn about his family - the missing pieces. The ones that would help to put things in the right places. He smoothed the man's forehead, kissed the crease away from the skin or at least tried to. "In time, Papito... In time you'll have all the answers about your family and the power you held in your hands..." He then sat quietly as he watched the man began with his dinner, smiling at the witch's teasing words. "If you don't pout maybe -" His eyebrow quirked as he continued, "Maybe I'll feed you something better later." His own words pulled a chuckle out of him. He then breathed out, eyeing the man as he got up from his seat, a hand offered to the man. "Well, come on then... Dance with me..." And took the man by the hand, helping him up from his seat and wrapping an arm around his waist. "Try not to step on my toes, Papito," he teased before catching Marcel's lips into a kiss.
Alma de Mi Alma
marcelxbertrand:
For now it was nice to forget reality and what awaited them when they returned to Louisiana. Marcel was content to kiss and kiss and leave this to be the only reality he knew for the night. “You do realize this is the first birthday we’ve spent together in three years.” It had been close to that time when Jesús left before. This wasn’t the time to focus on negative memories or even pain. For that reason he tried to keep the thoughts of the ritual away. What he did allow himself to linger on was the strength he gained from the vampire. The clear and undeniable effect that the words the man spoke had on him. There were no doubts that he would do what it took for him to remain in his life both in this world and the next.
“I’ve been thinkin’.” And he had. Funny how time and peace made your mind wander to things that you took for granted. “After this and the ritual,” He’d make it. He’d survive it. Anything else wasn’t an option, “And once Serafine’s is up and runnin’. Maybe for Christmas. We can go to France. We can take Noe.” The history Jesús had shared with him since their arrival, made him realize how important the past could be to understanding yourself and especially for him, “I don’t know anythin’ about my mother’s family. I need to.” He let the weight of the vampire’s presence register with him. Each brush of his thumb brought a forgotten memory to the surface and he hoped that he’d think of this night much like he did the others.
At the question, Marcel nodded his head before opening his eyes to greet the vampire’s face, “I do like it. I love it.” He leaned in for another kiss. This one was short, “You didn’t have to do all this. Not for me.” Tonight they could be a couple. Forget past hurts and future burdens and focus on happiness. “Does that mean I have to let you go?” He smiled. Pulling away from the other, long enough for him to pour him wine. “Can you tell me now what you have planned for tonight or do I still have to wait?”
“I know it is...” He whispered his response, nodding his head as he thought of the years that they’ve been apart. It was lonely, painful most of all. And it dragged and days blurred from one to the other... There was no distinguishing the day and night as he buried himself with work. He wanted it that way. He couldn’t bear the thought of Marcel, on his own, living his life - without him. A bitter taste filled his mouth but it was immediately cast aside together with unhappy thoughts that teased to linger. He didn’t need any of them. Not now. Not anymore. “That’s why tonight is special. When was the last time we went on a vacation?”
The witch’s suggestion put a wider smile on his face, pulling the man close he immediately agreed to it. “France? Sure, we can do that. I haven’t been there in a long time. I’m sure your Noe would appreciate it,” he said. “It’s important to know your past, where you came from. That’s the foundation of who you are now. A good lesson for Noe, I’m thinking...”
Finally, he sat the man at the table and poured him some wine while dishes were served. He had a plate set up for himself although he didn’t need to eat. But food were placed in his plate as well and he tasted them as he watched the man, his head shaking at the comments made. “Of course I do. And just for you. Why wouldn’t I? I want to spend some time with you here. In this place. It’s important to me. And you -” His eyebrow raised, giving Marcel a playful glare, “Are very impatient. Are you not hungry?” He stared at the man’s plate and the table of food behind the witch where a big spread was set up. “Eat and then - you’ll dance with me,” he grinned. As if on cue, the band that had been sitting in one corner began to play a soft melody. “I asked them if they knew any of your favorite songs,” he said to Marcel, leaning forward so the other caught his low voice. “They just gave me the look - I don’t think they know who Bon Jovi is,” he teased, chuckling as he sat back, hand over Marcel’s on top of the table.
Alma de Mi Alma
marcelxbertrand:
Three times - The number of times Marcel had stripped, dressed, only to strip again. He’d thought they had a simple and quiet night ahead of them, in spite of the feeling tugging at his stomach. Surprises were hard for him to accept. Marcel knew he could dare to travel across the bond, pick through his lover’s brain and determine what secrets were there. Was it dinner? What had he decided to give him for his birthday? Was he thinking about the second or third round from that morning or was he still stuck on the first like Marcel.
He hated waiting and he always had. When the servant came to the door with the note, he knew it was better to opt out of the simple jeans and tee. He went back for a different tee, a nicer pair of jeans, and finished it off with a light blazer. Immediately nerves kicked in. He couldn’t exactly determine why. Was it him? Was it Jesús?
Their visit had been peaceful and the glimpse into Jesús’ past was bittersweet. The images of a very playful and human Jesús left him with a longing to know the man when sun still warmed his skin and blood flowed freely through his veins. The weight of his tribe hadn’t been on his shoulders at that time but he still saw the beauty the man possessed, even in childhood. He saw the freedom he had to practice magic and love those around him without fear of corruption or death. He was thankful for the education but magical and practical. He wanted to share more, from his life, from the vampire’s, and he wanted them to forge their own memories together.
He found himself wringing his hands together as he walked from the room, down the stairs, and the cobblestone path that led to spot just beyond the vineyard where Jesús stood waiting. He ran his fingers over the beads around his wrist. Nerves were still eating away at him but they eased as soon as his eyes met the vampire’s. A smile spread across his lips, “You knew where to find me if you wanted me, Cher.” He relaxed in the coolness of hands caressing his cheeks. His lips gently grazed the other’s in an act that was becoming more than familiar. Playfully he nipped at the vampire’s bottom lip, “This what you been up to all day.” His gaze left Jesús’ face for a brief second as his eyes traveled across the scene unfolding before him. It was impossible for him to count all the lights. Arms tightened around the taller man and he held him close, “Thank you.”
Jesús let Marcel tugged at his bottom lip, releasing an unnecessary breath as he caught the man's mouth for another kiss. Another kiss that lasted longer than he intended but who was complaining? He grinned, keeping the witch within his hold, letting him take a peek at the vineyard. He nodded his head in response following the man's eyes and took another glimpse of the lights beyond then. Then, he brought his sight back to wander over the witch's, caressing the sides of his face with his thumbs.
"It’s my pleasure...," He replied and placed another kiss to his lover's lips before he continued. "Do you like it?" Fingers entwined within Marcel's thick locks. "And I hope you're hungry. I had them cook a lot of food," a slight smirk on his lips. "I didn't know what to have them make so - I think they made every best dish they knew how to make... Would you like me to pour you some wine?"
