sokka and zuko married each other while they were drunk
there really is nothing going on between them, aside from friendship.
well, also aside from the fact that zuko's been hopelessly in love with the guy since he's helped him break his dad out of prison.
and that sokka's quite obviously crushing on him as well, not that zuko would ever notice because sokka's great at hiding things that could possibly be used against him.
no, he's not. well, he actually is good at hiding things as he is a warrior, but, it's just that there was never really any need for it. zuko's oblivious as hell, he'll never know.
and then aang and katara get married. with the bittersweet main event (because yeah, they're a great couple, but, holy shit, they're not kids anymore!), the exchanging of pleasantries, and the celebration afterwards that looked more like a party thrown by teenagers than a peaceful dinner hosted by someone's lovely grandparents, which was what the newlyweds were going for.
iroh, who's just as wasted as them, officiated it. azula kept the documents and stuff just in case.
months later, when zuko tells the gaang that he wants to go off alone in a super dangerous secret mission, everyone's against it, of course. zuko's insistent, though. "no, i'll be fine, seriously! and it really is best if i go alone. for... stealth..."
azula, then, says "what would your husband think, zuko? even he probably knows that this is a stupid idea and that's saying something since he's usually your number one supporter when it comes to almost everything."
"husband? what the hell are you talking about? i don't even have a boyfriend, at the very least."
the rest just exchange looks and his uncle, the actual firelord, visibly avoids his eyes as if he's the most fearsome enemy he's ever had.
azula stands and goes through her drawers, smirking as she walks back.
"oh, zuzu. you're in for one hell of a tale."
