Mulan AU where she does get caught by the other fresh recruits while she's bathing but Mushu helps her spin it like the lake is cursed by an evil lizard demon and will turn men into women if they stay in it for too long.

From there it's not actually difficult to get the other soldiers onboard with covering up the fact that poor Ping took one for the team and got afflicted by the vagina curse, especially since it would have been all of them if they hadn't gotten the warning ahead of time. So they agree to help him cover it up, because obviously the army's not going to understand.

Shang is... tentatively glad that the men are bonding and getting along, even if they continue to be deeply weird about it.

like there’s a huge age difference between billy and the youngest sibling and billy tried so hard to hate them but he couldn’t (neither could max)

The baby isn’t a baby when they move to hawkins, he’s three and goes to daycare while neil and susan work.

Billy picks him up on his way home from school with max in the passenger seat. The kids at school think he was a teenage dad at first when word got round there’s a carseat in the back of the camaro.

Billy’s actually looking after him (and max) when neil and susan are on a date. He has to take a shower after working out and goes to find max so she can keep an eye on him and fuck she’s not here anymore so he has no choice but to load the toddler into his car and look for her.

After multiple attempts at various houses, he finally gets sent to the Byers house and he can already see her in the window. He’s annoyed and gets even more pissed when Harrington lies about it.

Max realises that the baby is with him and darts outside screaming why he bought him with him and billy yells back that he had no choice and pulls the toddler out of the car when max goes back inside.

Harrington is standing there with his mouth open, prepared for a fight but does nothing when Billy storms past him and the toddler laughs over Billys shoulder at him.

He hands the toddler to max who quickly adjusts and stands there with his arms crossed.
