So, they go at it. She’s been helpinghim with using his biotics moreeffectively in battle. He usuallyexpends all his energy in the first fewminutes, leaving him more than tiredwhen it comes to hand to hand. 

And yes: He’s more than grateful, buthe’s not exactly excited to get slammedon the mat time after time.

Okay. He’s got it this time. A well placedbiotic blast and he’s got her off balanceand then pins her to the ground. He’striumphant in his smile. While she lays onthe mat, Val leans over, giving her a peckon the lips, his nose sorta brushingawkwardly against her chin, but it gets theaffection across well enough.

“See you at dinner” he calls out, headingback to his quarters for a shower and thendown to the war room to see what needsto get done before dinner.

They stood close, both working on individual meals. For once Gardner was not making a questionable platter of alien delicacies. Miranda was one of the many grateful for his decision to take a day off. She could fix her own meals well enough, it might not have been a full kitchen but she had worked with less for years. The Commander had not said anything, nor her in response. Perhaps he wasn’t sure what to say to her after their spar, fair enough. That had been far from a professional 

Eventually there was a point where they were blocking each other from something they needed. Miranda could see the bottle of wine resting on top of the fridge, just behind him. They turned to face each other, eyes darting from each other to the items they needed. A quick brush past with heated cheeks and they were once again stuck in a teenage dilemma. Which Miranda believed to be well past two adults. Of course she was going to do something, least have The Commander Shepard walk on eggshells around her.

She firmly placed a hand on his chest. Leaning forward she brushed her lips against his pulling away quickly and moving back to her finished meal. Miranda poured a glass of cabernet sauvignon before turning to Shepard and giving him a wink. “Enjoy your meal, Commander,” she teased. Naturally she was not going to sit in the mess, and picked her plate up to migrate to her private quarters.

“Shila v meske ne utaish.” he replies, a smile thrown to her. “Truth will always be discovered, sooner or later.” he translates with a lofty grin pinned on him still. “Plus I’m not sure recreational means the same thing for you” he adds with a light shrug.

Miranda rolls her eyes at his words, once more when he translates them. The hum from the dimmed kitchen lights flooded between them as the woman studies Valentin. She leans forward holding her own smile, “And what does it mean for you?”

Miranda’s face scrunched at the nickname. “What makes you think this is work?” She sipped on her drink, angling her datapad away from the man. “A decent sleep schedule is one of the main keys to remaining healthy, Commander. Not everyone can lead a suicide mission.”

She tilted her datapad away once more. “What I’m doing is recreational, Shepard. That’s far from the stress one can get while doing something like taxes, or reading dossiers,” Miranda set her datapad face down, studying his face. “But you won’t believe me. Will you?”

"You’re the one that wanted to discuss some sort of business plan, without an appointment mind you.” She set down a few papers on the bed next to Ajax. “If you were actually interested I would have assumed you’d set something up with the Templars. Since that’s not the case I get to act as Meredith’s magical messenger.”
