Im watching Naruto for the first time (yes really) and JESUS does this show hate Sakura

Like im over 100 episodes in and I can count the number of times Sakura is allowed to outclass Sasuke and Naruto on one hand (heres a hint, its 2; when theyre climbing trees and when, in the Chunin exams, Naruto and Sasuke are literally unconsious)

And while Sasuke gets the Chidori and Naruto gets the rasengan, meanwhile Sakura learns no new jutsu, and a good 80% of her screen time is her visiting the hospital to see Sasuke and Rock Lee I know this show came out in the prime of "this characters personality is that shes a girl" but there are genuinely other cool and talented female ninja and it feels strange that the female main character hasnt gotten any form of character progression outside of cutting her hair in her one of 2 cool scenes

Hoping fruitlessly for this to change, wish me luck o7

HEY IM BACK, long hiatus, got depressed then life happened then I lost my motivation for art, but now IM SUPER GOOD AND WANT TO START POSTING AGAIN!! heres my updated sona since i have green hair now :p

In many cultures, ethnic groups, and nations around the world, hair is considered a source of power and prestige. African people brought these traditions and beliefs to the Americas and passed them down through the generations.

In my mother’s family (Black Americans from rural South Carolina) the women don’t cut their hair off unless absolutely necessary (i.e damage or routine trimming). Long hair is considered a symbol of beauty and power; my mother often told me that our hair holds our strength and power. Though my mother’s family has been American born for several generations, it is fascinating to see the beliefs and traditions of our African ancestors passed down. We are emotionally and spiritually attached to our hair, cutting it only with the knowledge that we are starting completely clean and removing stagnant energy.

Couple this with the forced removal and covering of our hair from the times of slavery and onward, and you can see why so many Black women and men alike take such pride and care in their natural hair and love to adorn our heads with wigs, weaves, braids, twists, accessories, and sharp designs.

Hair is not just hair in African diaspora cultures, and this is why the appropriation and stigma surrounding our hair is so harmful.

Rashida Tlaib has set up a petition to send to the White House to recognize and stop the ethnic cleansing and forced displacement happening in Gaza. If you’re a US citizen please sign. I have no illusions that this will change policy, but the public outcry against their actions must continue. Everyone should take the time to read this- but especially thin allies in the body positivity movement to end fatshaming who sympathize but haven’t experienced fatphobia directly. Great insight into the mindset of fat people who want to be healthy, but have bad relationships with food that have been pushed on them by society.
