Your art is delightful and I love Fia! Is it okay if I draw her with my octo?

I really try to make her an interesting character while still being fairly relatable too. OOC // was feeling really stressed out so I drew these two being sweet again, they’re oddly therapeutic for me it seems.  It’s funny how Fia can’t stand Inklings for multiple reasons but this one just swooped into her life and she (although HIGHLY reluctantly) allowed them in eventually. Although that’s future talk...currently she’s still quite snippy/not fully trusting of the persistant squid. Inkling (AA) belongs to @aced-it-arts

Mimi would remind her that she has no bones and she can slip right out of those shackles. She is an octarian and octarians cannot be stopped.

Honestly she doesn’t even know how she could have possibly forgotten about this silly detail, perhaps she’d been around the Inklings too long already and their nature was rubbing off on her or something. Fia would be incredibly appreciative of Mimi and won’t lose herself again like this.

Fia would be unsure as to why this squid would even consider helping her in any situation, as she can tell that this was one of those agents that are often found fighting against her kind more often than not. Although she doesn’t seem too hostile toward them yet and appreciates the offer none the less.

“With only Inklings surrounding me, and no Octolings to remember me or call ‘family’, how am I to feel ‘free’..?” “Would you release the ‘beast’ I am seen as, or would you free me and accept me for who I am?” ----------------------------------------------------------- OOC - sssssooo sorry, I needed to release some tension, and I’ve been feeling “trapped” lately, so I drew Fia in a sort of metaphoric state, the shackles representing the feeling of being trapped basically. I don’t think she’d ever be in this exact situation no worries. I actually kind of like how this came out, although it was a bit on the quick side and a pinch lazier than my usual full drawings, but ah, I really hope you guys still like it. And look at that! She’s not wearing her contacts here. So, would you free her? careful, she’s known to be hostile/moody toward most Inklings. Seems she’s not too fond of them all around.

Sometimes you just need to sleep the pain away, or hide in a bundle of shining golden eggs to bury your self doubt. Maybe you’ll shine like they do one day..? -------------------------------------------------------------------------- This...this isn’t what I wanted to draw for tonight, that image is still a WIP in my files for now, I um... I started feeling kind of...unwell? while trying to draw and ended up having a random cry for whatever reason. So I drew something else...or tried to at least, I couldn’t manage a full body somehow. Random little fact about Fia, she holds a lot of self doubt and hate after losing her old team to an incident involving an inkling, she tries to hide it by overworking on things or acting tough like she would have when she was still an active Elite. Sometimes to the point of exhaustion where she’ll just pass out leaning against something like this.

If Fia had to be any other ink color, what would she be?

“You know…something that would make me look more natural or at least a color fitting my original status. If you meant the ink color that I would use to attack with, however…I should hope you would know the answer would obviously be purple in any normal situation”——————————————–Artist notes -  Kay so, for context on her “more natural” comment, she used to be one of the Elite’s you’d normally see hanging around the squads that are sprawled out and about in the canyon. She loved her team and loved her job, and is still COMPLETELY willing to go back once her personal business in Inkopolis is done. Mind you…a certain someone I’ve drawn her with might persuade her to hang out a while longer. Still though, She looks fabulous but she IS a smidge self conscious at times about how badly she really fits in with her kind appearance wise. Uniqueness is a good thing! However she does not know how well others took it when she was back home. PS  -  that first panel is NOT how I would talk to anyone, Fia’s just not the sweetest Octoling you can walk up to if you aren’t an Octoling yourself or she doesn’t trust you  xD   She’s worse than what you see in this at times.

Artist notes - I don’t know HOW I forgot to upload this image of Fia, it was one of my first drawings of her, as well as another on featuring her in her old gear. A couple facts about her: Her eyes - the heart shaped pupils you constantly see on her are not her real pupils, she wears contacts to add to her ‘fashion/uniqueness’ since back then octo’s generally looked very uniform. Her glittery hair on the other hand is real. This image - When I drew this for deviantart the story was the same as what it is now, basically, after Fia lost her original squad (splatted by one of my Inklings/Cazz featured on my sideblog), Fia lived a good long while out in the canyon trying to keep an eye out for said inkling and was instead confronted by a pair of my other inklings (also on sideblog, Kanna/Lucerne) whom constantly returned to try and convince her to move to Inkopolis.  Fia was rather rude to them and kept pushing their offer aside until she’d learned that the one she was hunting down was commonly seen in Inkopolis in turf wars.  Yes, her literal original reason for moving to Inkopolis was based on revenge for her team, that doesn’t end up the only reason in the end but it explains a lot about why she pushes inklings away, she does not trust them and probably never fully will, loyal to her fellow octolings through and through.

“Just imagine, you’re offered something expecting it to be tasty and what you get is just a green pile of nearly flavorless mush…have people ever heard of balance…?”————————————————–Artist notes -  Sorry it’s not in color like the others, just finished a bigger thing on my sideblog and this ask seemed a bit urgent as the splatfest is tonight lol.  Fia also speaks for me here btw, I normally pick Marina’s side but I’ve literally never had the chance to try an actually good Guacamole, it’s not even the dip’s fault! Every time someone in the family made it they just didn’t add enough to flavor the stuff or added too much of something that just kind of ruined it, so I haven’t had a positive experience yet.  I’ll have to make it for myself someday.

Important artist talk

I’m sorry if this is a...”tldr” situation, but it’s something that has been bugging me for quite a while now that I’ve been holding in. It’s important to me. I’ll remove this in time if needed since it’s not related to Fia or this specific blog, but it is VERY MUCH related to me as an artist and other artists out there and what you probably should NOT do to them. A while back I posted a YCH over on my sideblog when I was needing a little change to renew my nintendo subscription so I could continue to play Splatoon. It was a chibi YCH, something simple and cute, I figured posting it would be fine. I left an example of how it’d turn out so people knew there’d be a nice quality to the finished product. The result of me uploading this commission option? Someone commented on it stating that my art was “cancer”. It hurt. It hurt a lot. It probably shouldn’t have as it’s just a word and a dumb comment coming from someone insignificant in my life, but as an artist whom spends hours if not days or WEEKS on my art, it really did sting. It’s one thing for me to feel constant worry and anxiety about what others think of my work, but for someone to come out and blatantly show me what they think in the worst way possible, honestly I was pretty crushed. I’ve been having a hard time producing art ever since I saw the comment, it broke my motivation because I was scared that well...what if I post something even more detailed and it’s still insulted. Not only that, but “cancer” really should not be used as an insult, you don’t know what people’s lives are like behind a screen, you don’t know who you’re throwing that word at. My GRANDFATHER has fought with it for years, it’s more than just some “joke” to me, it’s probably the worst insult that can be thrown. Please, I cannot stress this enough. As an artist, I plead to you, please don’t go around calling other artists work such things, don’t insult peoples work, whether you like their art or not. You don’t know how much you’ll break them, or ruin their hopes of ever even improving or continuing their work. Please reconsider your words, reconsider how you approach artists if you do. Be considerate of their feelings and time spent, be CONSTRUCTIVE in your comments if you don’t like something, tell them how they can improve in a kind way rather than being hurtful. I’m sorry guys, I’m sorry for this post and how long it is, just...yeah...I don’t know what to say anymore aside from apologizing for this essential rant. I’m hurt. That’s all I can say.

FA Commission Pricing  For the non fA users -  Tumblr Commission Pricing Holy wow I’ve never drawn any splatoon characters before, so this was definitely one of the first and fun challenges! … I - I accidentally overdetailed his boots though and I would apologize but I think they look shasmhing so. I won’t. :D I absolutely love this.  Characters / Commission belong to @Floofurr / Floofurr and her companion (I am unaware of his name SOB) If you would like to perhaps drop me some markers for some art in exchange, check out my wishlist here! Just note me for my mailing address, use your own cell phone for the tracking order information, then screenshot me the order confirmation. Anything over 15$ (meaning more than one piece sets like, the markers of course, I need markers so bad) will totally get you a piece! And if you give me a character with the marker theme that you purchase, I will DO MY BEST to traditionally color and doodle it, otherwise I-I might ink a pretty doodle and copy it, then try to color it.
