etsy just put out a sitewide ban on anything with nudity beyond breasts (and if it shows those it has to be "artistic"), most sex toys, etc. so if youre a seller of those items heads up, and if youre a prospective buyer go ahead and buy that stuff while you can. :(

the ban also applies to gory art, art with swears, and some kinds of taxidermy

This is more than "just banning porn" like I've seen some tags suggesting. Going as far to ban things like "foot pics" creates an extremely slippery slope.

Adult toys like dildos, vibrators, anal, plugs, sex dolls, and fleshlights are now banned on Etsy. But what this will also probably include is gender affirming items like packers because it can easily be misconstrued as a dildo. Are breast forms going to be safe or are those going to be taken down as prohibited items?

Further bans include language around sexualizing a familial relationship so anything about MILF/DILF is prohibited along with their examples "daddy's slut" and "choke me mommy"

Does this mean those fun Man I Love Frog (MILF) joke shirts are also going to be banned? What about a mug that says #1 Sexy Dad Award?

Any time there is a adult content ban/crackdown minority groups will be targeted the most, so kink and queer shops will have much more items being removed.

With this announcement I'm highly considering closing my shop in protest and solidarity with other creators. I don't currently make any adult content listed here but I'm a transgender queer artist and these rules are the first of many that threaten the inclusion of others.

another general point to add: in regards to the content that isnt banned outright but is still considered mature like nude art and wet specimens, this censorship may as well functionally be a ban considering the censored listing basically cant be advertised, plus much of the existing customer base will be going elsewhere. where that is, im honestly not sure.

Nononono silica dust is a known and common hazard in construction and manufacturing. This is deliberate and horrifying neglect on the part of these employers. They could have properly implemented engineering controls, they could have required respirators on the shop floor. What you call "super asbestos" (silica dust) has been killing people for centuries, as long as people have been stonemasons really. OSHA has strict standards regarding the PEL for silica dust, but there is a dangerous lack of awareness and enforcement of safety protocols. This is not some new horror of the culture of capitalism, this is ordinary and awful and age old neglect.

for all the troubles that tumblr has, the lowest lows have been over shadowed by how absolutely incredible the best of tumblr can be and im so incredibly thankful for all of you.

doing this fundraiser has been so emotional for me because even though i have been following along with everything as it has been unfolding and have felt so much pain for the people trapped in gaza, nothing could have prepared me for being in direct contact with raja.

she has expressed so much gratitude and has told us that she had lost all hope after her fundraiser had been active for months with less than 1000€. she has called us angels and i have wept feeling like this is the most that i can do and that it could never be enough.

but we. are. making. a. difference.

even if i, as an individual can only do so much, even if each of us as individuals can only give so much, the difference we have been able to make for raja and her family has meant the world to her.

Okay I'm going to talk about this for the last time bc currently the stupidest manifestation of this I've ever seen is unfolding, and nothing can top it or explain this phenomenon better

So Amal Clooney was one of the lawyers who advised the ICC to charge Netanyahu with war crimes & issue an arrest warrant. But apparently there was already a backlash over her "not speaking up" which is already dumb, like, as far as I can tell she has no social media, but also she's a lawyer, she can't comment freely on cases, that could literally destroy the case

But she was trending bc people were saying she should be forgiven, for not posting. But also there are people adamant she not be forgiven. Because she should have spoken up sooner. Helping charge Benjamin Netanyahu with crimes against humanity is not good enough, she should have been posting, she needs to be held accountable for her lack of posting while she was, again, serving as a legal advisor on a international humans rights case against Benjamin Netanyahu.

Like when you're at the stage where people ask where a celebrity was, and the answer is "helping arrange an arrest warrant for Netanyahu", and your response is "why was she doing that instead of posting online" I really just have to conclude you think posting online is more important than anything else. Also that your online activism revolves around finding righteous ways to dislike celebrities you have entrenched parasocial relationships with that you rationalize by going "well I obsessively hate them so it's okay". But mostly the Posting Is More Important Than War Crimes Tribunals part
