Seyloy Week will take place from Sunday, July 19th to Saturday, July 25th, in celebration of more than three years with our favorite Horus slaying girlfriends!

Guidelines:

Participants create any fan content related to the relationship between Aloy and Seyka, including but not limited to fanfiction, fanart, fanvids, memes, edits, GIFs, playlists and more! There is no minimum or maximum length that you must hit with your creations.

The prompt list is just for fun and to help inspire you. If you have an idea that isn't on the list, you are still more than welcome to join! You may fill as many prompts as you wish on whichever days you like.

Please mark all entries appropriately. SFW and NSFW works will both be gladly accepted, but make sure you label NSFW works clearly and correctly.

There's no need to submit your work to either of us—just tag it with #seyloyweek or #seyloyweek26 within your first five tags and join in the fun! If you are posting your work on Ao3, we have a collection set up that you can find here or by searching "Seyloy Week 2026"

Late submissions are accepted! The Ao3 collection will remain open until August 25th, and after that point it will close. You do not need to rush to get all your work done by July 25th, but we're hoping with this advance notice that everyone will have plenty of time to get their works done within the time frame.

Works created using AI are not allowed. If you want to participate, your own creativity and effort is required.

Because of AI I have even more respect for people consciously deciding to pick up a pencil and learning to draw or write from scratch. It’s already hard to compete with that stuff as someone who has been drawing and writing for years, but it must be even harder if you’re just starting out right now.

But please, don’t let it deter you. Write that fic. Draw that art. Do it badly! And know there are people who will love everything you make, because you made it and that makes it already better than all that creepily perfect looking slop that AI churns out.

Fanfic writers: We like comments! Please tell us when you like our stories!

Fanfic readers: Write for yourself and stop being entitled and whiny. We don’t owe you anything. 😇

Okay, we don’t owe you, the readers, anything either, but that’s not how fandom works. That’s not how community works. This is not a give and take. This is a discussion. How would you feel if you worked your ass off on something you’re super excited about, show it to others, and then get crickets? It’s disheartening.

And then these same people are the actual entitled and whiny ones who get pissed when writers don’t share their stories. Hypocritical much?

Lately I've been seeing a lot of discourse around this topic everywhere and I don't understand why a writer is crucified for wanting some engagement on their work. That's basic human trait to want positive reinforcement.

Fanfics are a social service and fandom is a social safe space. No one is obligated to participate in any way but if no one contributed, fandom wouldn't exist.

Fandom is often equated to potluck here, right? But in potluck, everyone participates. Writers bring their fanfics, artists bring their fanarts. And what do they get in return? Engagement from their audience. That is the audience's contribution to the fandom, keep their artists going so their fandom flourishes. Everyone can write or draw, but most rarely do. And these days, it's more like artists are cooking and cooking but no one wants to eat it, and when the artists stop, there are cries of disappointment. Artists are allowed to be disappointed too.

"Only the fanfic authors beg for comments. Artists don't" because fanart is different from fanfics. When you engage with a fanart, you have the full vision of the artist in one look. If you are hitting that like button, the artists know you see it and appreciate it. You send them a page long review, they will love it too.

On the other hand, fics are long form media and it requires some amount of effort from the reader. Are you liking/reblogging it as a reminder for yourself to return to it later? Or really read it and enjoyed it? You don't see the vision of the work until you get to the end and no writer can realise it unless you tell them. Also, everyone is allowed their own interpretation and it's another kind of fun when people come up with theirs.

So yes, comments are the unparalleled fuel to writers. Likes/kudos are great but comments are a whole different ballgame.

Who gives a shit. If you feel the urge to write, if you like doing it, please just do it. You don't have to share it if you don't want to. It can be something fun you do for yourself, if nothing else.

Today I was listening to Jane Goodall being interviewed and she said something I knew about but had forgotten. The whole reason she went off to Africa to study chimps in the wild was because she was madly in love with Tarzan. Huge fangirl!

"He married the wrong Jane!" she laughed.

But she was so caught up in the romance of it all that she literally went off to live with chimps at a time when field studies of wild animals simply did not exist, and women were not taken very seriously as scientists. And basically invented a whole approach to studying wild animals that is standard today, changed everything we know about chimps, and became one of nature's biggest champions.

Because she loved real animals and one fictional man.
